Rise and Run

217: Podcast Family Feud - Episode 3 - For the Matriarch

The RDMTeam Season 5 Episode 217

A game show rivalry meets runner wisdom in a rubber match that’s equal parts chaotic, helpful, and heartfelt. We pit Team Rise and Run against Team Will Run For in a custom Family Feud built from real Run Disney life: favorite expo merch, the best post‑race resort pools, the cleanest, quietest in‑park bathrooms for that urgent corral P‑stop, and the most energizing on‑course entertainment that isn’t a character. Along the way, you’ll hear how tiny choices—like a mug over a pin, a quiet pool over a volcano slide, or Norway over the TTC—add up to a calmer, faster, happier race day.

We also shine a light on community. Michael shares details for the Virtually Live 5K supporting Unite For Her and the scholarship created in Erin’s honor at Rowan/Cooper for medical students focused on oncology. After a nail‑biting Fast Money, we cap the show with a surprise donation to Erin’s fund—a reminder that this sport is bigger than split times and park playlists.

Beyond the feud, we dig into practical takeaways you can use immediately: which expo vendors are worth the stop (Sparkle Athletic, Fit2Run, and more), how to plan bathroom strategy on Walt Disney World race courses, and which non‑character entertainment—gospel choirs, marching bands, live actors—can carry you through late miles. We round it out with training updates, medal reactions, and a packed race report loaded with PRs, tips, and laughs.

Press play for a smart, lively tour through Run Disney culture that balances fun and function. If you enjoy the episode, subscribe, share it with a running friend, and leave a quick review. What’s your top on‑course bathroom or favorite expo buy? Tell us—we might just feature it next time.

SPEAKER_13:

At this point, I just give up. I I have emailed so many times about them getting the correct name in there, but again, they they just that they just send it back and like again, we don't care. So Craig, what are you talking about? I'm looking at your picture and it says Bob next to you. You're complaining about the name on the it's all good, buddy. Well, I I know it's all good, but at the same time, though, I do appreciate that over the course of all of these episodes, Michael has called me the name of every single host that has been on Family Feud. As it should be. Yeah, so uh I I appreciate the the depth to the bit. I really do appreciate that. But folks, welcome to what I'm dubbing the rubber match. Uh-oh. Podcast Family Feud. Team Rise and Run took the first round two years ago. But last year, our friends over at Will Run 4 with a dominant, dominant performance, even though there was a lot of cursing and anger about Italian restaurants.

SPEAKER_18:

Oh my god. They're back.

SPEAKER_13:

They're back to settle the score here of this best of three series, and we're so excited for it. Again, welcome to this another amazing, amazing episode of Podcast Family Feud. Uh, before we get going with the proceedings, we have a couple of uh sponsor announcements that we want to go with here. And our first sponsor uh for this game is brought to you by Wawa. Because if you're going to Lady and Tramp a Hoagie, make sure it's a Wawa Hoagie. If if you folks listen to our Loopy Looper episode, you'll uh definitely know. Yeah, if you know, you know, you you'll understand the reference.

SPEAKER_03:

But stop we stop talking dirty to me, buddy.

SPEAKER_13:

Listen, this is a family show. I know. Thomas.

SPEAKER_10:

So that's why I thought you should have called it the prophylactic match instead of the movie match.

SPEAKER_11:

Oh my goodness. Wow, okay.

SPEAKER_13:

Rise after dark. Yeah, a little more decorum, right? I don't even know where to go from there. So, what we're gonna do is we're gonna go meet our families and we're gonna head over to the studio and chat with the will run for family. All right, Tom. We we talked about hoagies, we talked about adult topics, but now let's get down the brass tacks here. What's your strategy going into game three of Podcast Family Feud?

SPEAKER_03:

Blurt out whatever comes into my head.

SPEAKER_13:

Okay.

SPEAKER_18:

Different from another strategy you had?

SPEAKER_13:

In life in general, right?

SPEAKER_03:

That's it. That's it.

SPEAKER_13:

My my other question is um, will you be also doing the buzzing for Diana this episode like you had to do last episode? Or, Diana, are you guys gonna get physically involved and hit the buzzard this time?

SPEAKER_18:

I have no memory of what you're talking about. I didn't even know this was happening, didn't I?

SPEAKER_13:

And that tracks. So, Tom, with that being said, why don't you introduce your family members to us?

SPEAKER_03:

Yes, hi. Uh, this is Tom. I am a humble host of Will Run For, and I'm also Greg's number one fan. Um, with me is my beautiful um partner in life, Diana. Uh, Michael, who is the patriarch of the Will Run For podcast. Um our favorite cousin, cousin Allie, who shows up at Thanksgiving and other um holidays. And then I can only describe his him as an Adonis. Um I'm a little starstruck. He's clearly the most famous person on this episode. It's Tony.

SPEAKER_08:

Related to us.

SPEAKER_03:

It's Hollywood Tony. He's he's a cousin, but like it's weird because like we can't quite track the genealogy back to him, but we'll we'll claim him as our own.

SPEAKER_13:

I I guess you could also throw Trader in there as well because the last time we did this, he was on Team Rise and Run, but but he uh he has moved over to We'll Run For.

SPEAKER_18:

I was actually gonna ask that I was I was like, wasn't Tony here last time for the other team?

SPEAKER_09:

I was trying to remember that too.

SPEAKER_13:

He was, and and and the and the reason why is um you know to make this true podcast family feud, we would have had representation from the war on cars. Um but we we are so sad. Um our friend Doug could not join us uh this evening because he's just gallivanting all across the states per way too famous. Oh yeah. Yeah, yeah, promoting uh you know his new book, Life After Cars, sold where any good book is sold. Um, but so Doug, we miss you, but we know uh you are here in spirit. So, but team will run for, thank you for being here. And before we get into the proceedings, though, Michael, this weekend is a very special weekend for the Will Run 4 family. Can you please tell us why?

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, so uh on Saturday, November 22nd, uh 9 a.m. Eastern Standard Time, we will be doing kicking off virtually live. Uh we'll kick it off on Instagram live. Uh as long as Tom hasn't booked some other event that he's gonna be at accidentally.

SPEAKER_11:

Okay.

SPEAKER_01:

Uh so we'll kick it off then. Uh we'll do our whatever run anybody feels like doing. Uh I have my own secret plan, but that's another thing. Oh uh, and we will, you know, do it all, kick it off together. Uh, I'm gonna be running at the infamous Cooper Loop.

SPEAKER_11:

Yes.

SPEAKER_01:

In misery because it's winter time and I hate it. Uh, and it's gonna be whatever, 45 degrees or whatever.

SPEAKER_19:

Oh, sounds beautiful.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, wonderful. It's great. And don't I want to go back to running along the Sasagul like I was like two days ago. But uh we'll do a uh probably do a zoom at the end of that. I'll push that out on uh probably through the email from the run signup site. Probably be the easiest. That way it's just not floating out in the ether for anybody to hop into. But anybody help them to join for sure.

SPEAKER_10:

Yeah, folks can still sign up and join, right?

SPEAKER_01:

Uh the sign-up is closed, but I do like if you if you want to just message me, I can still mail you. Like, you're not gonna get the bib in time, but if you want to bib or stuff, just shoot me a message and I'll mail you one out. I have plenty of.

SPEAKER_10:

Oh, no big deal on that. I just want our friends to know that they can still join and still can still make a donation too.

SPEAKER_01:

Oh, definitely. Yeah, just go to unite for her, or if you go, actually, if you go to the site, there is a you can either donate um through the site, but if you click on it says, I think it says like donate here or unite for her. If you just click on that, it'll take you right to unite for her. So which is a little easier because then it won't go through run sign up, you'll go directly through uh the charity itself.

SPEAKER_13:

Good to know. Perfect. Yeah, and and we we scheduled this episode for this week on purpose so that way while you're running your virtually live on Saturday, you can be listening to Podcast Family Feud with our wonderful friends. So we're we're very excited to be collabing together uh in terms of this episode and this awesome event. So we're we're very proud of all the money that you raised uh for it. So uh congratulations, guys. Uh, it's awesome to see.

SPEAKER_18:

Yeah, and I just looked up how cold it's gonna be on Saturday, and I'm gonna be in misery. So thanks for that reminder.

SPEAKER_13:

All right, excellent. Well, team will run for cousin Allie, Fox Hollywood, Tony. Thanks for being here. We're gonna move now to the other side of the studio and meet the Rise and Run family. All right, Bob, for game two, you weren't here. I was not here. And we missed you, but Alicia did a wonderful job. And now the thing is, Alicia and Lexi can't be here. So we have another podcast that's helping fill in. Can you go ahead and introduce your family members for tonight's game?

SPEAKER_10:

Well, I'd be happy to. Hi, friends, I'm Bob, and I'm here with that. Sounds awfully familiar, doesn't it? But anyway, I'm here with John. Hey, how you doing, Bob? Good, John, Jack. Hiya, and our extended family members, the famous sisters, the stride sister, Hannah. Hey, and Natalie.

SPEAKER_04:

Hi.

SPEAKER_10:

Glad that you're with us. Thanks for joining us. It's gonna be fun.

SPEAKER_13:

Oh, you got that right. All right, let's before we get into the game, let's quickly go over the rules here. So we have five rounds of your typical family feud questions. Again, uh, you know, there's the whole three strikes and passing. Jack, don't blurt out answers when it's not your turn because we know you love to do that. No, I don't remember. Several times.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, that definitely never happens.

SPEAKER_19:

You know what I remembered this time? I remembered to like have like a remote so that way I can actually click on time and not try and break my computer. Oh.

SPEAKER_13:

So, and then whoever is the first team to get to 300 points will be our winner and go on to play fast money. And believe it or not, we might actually have a prize this time, but that's gonna be little tease for the end of the game. So let's get into round one. Give me Bob, give me Tom. Here we go.

SPEAKER_11:

Woo!

SPEAKER_13:

All right, gentlemen, did you do your uh virtual handshake fist bump?

SPEAKER_10:

Gentlemen, did you hear that? That was that was pretty cool.

SPEAKER_13:

I appreciate it. All right, here we go. We surveyed 100 Run Disney runners. Name your favorite type of official Run Disney merchandise to buy at the expo. I saw Tom's hand first.

SPEAKER_03:

I'm gonna go with uh the pins.

SPEAKER_13:

The pins, all right.

SPEAKER_08:

Good answer.

SPEAKER_13:

Survey says that is the number three answer on the board. So, Bob, you get a chance here to get answers one or two. I'm going with t-shirts. You're going with t-shirts, all right. Survey says that is the number one answer. We're going with various clothing items as the number one answer. So various clothing items. No, here we go. Uh you know what? Quite broad.

SPEAKER_18:

Let's I will admit it's vague. Like, so we're lumping like jackets, t-shirts, and like leggings together. Like, that's all one thing.

SPEAKER_10:

I was gonna say I was gonna say left socks, but whatever. That's fine. I thought that was too detailed.

SPEAKER_02:

Next to the nachos.

SPEAKER_13:

Yeah. So team rise and run, you have control. So the decision is up to you whether you want to play or pass. And I I will I can't remember if I said the top, it's the top five answers on the board. So there's only three healers remaining. So that if that factors into your decision.

SPEAKER_10:

What do you say, team? Take it, take it. I say play. Play, play. I'm looking at hedge. We're playing.

SPEAKER_13:

Okay, all right, they're playing. So we now move down to John. Again, three answers left on the board. Name your favorite type of official Run Disney merch to buy at the expo.

SPEAKER_02:

This is a crazy question, but do sneakers count as clothing?

SPEAKER_03:

I don't know. That sounds like random clothing.

SPEAKER_02:

Tom sh I'm going with sneakers.

SPEAKER_13:

You're going with sneakers. All right. Survey says that is your first strike, not in the top five. That's okay. It's okay. We move down to Jack.

SPEAKER_18:

That's actually surprising to me.

SPEAKER_01:

That is very surprising.

SPEAKER_18:

That's not clothing, though. No. I mean it's surprising it's not.

SPEAKER_19:

Jack, do you like to shop at the expo? I like to look at things I can't afford.

SPEAKER_11:

Yeah. Relatable. There's a lot of those.

SPEAKER_19:

But but John, John, I got you. Okay. A magnet.

SPEAKER_13:

A magnet.

SPEAKER_10:

Okay, that's good. I like that.

SPEAKER_13:

Good answer, right? Survey. That is the number four answer on the board. Twelve people said magnet. Jack is so cute. Good job, John.

SPEAKER_01:

Good job. You sure that wouldn't fall into the category of random things that stick to things like points?

SPEAKER_13:

All right, Hannah. Welcome to your first game of uh of Podcast Family Feud. Two answers left on the board, only one strike. What is your guess here?

SPEAKER_05:

I'm gonna go with a shoe ornament. A shoe ornament.

SPEAKER_13:

Okay. Survey says that is the number two answer on the board. 20 people said a shoe ornament.

SPEAKER_10:

That doesn't include a sneaker.

SPEAKER_01:

Oh, sorry.

SPEAKER_19:

That is so fair. Various types of sneakers.

SPEAKER_01:

I didn't even know they existed. Shoe ornaments.

SPEAKER_03:

We have we have about five on our Christmas tree.

SPEAKER_05:

I do not go to an expo and without getting my ornament. Yep.

SPEAKER_01:

I've literally never bought anything in an expo, so I'm so we have to do that.

SPEAKER_10:

I can see Natalie stretching out over here, though.

SPEAKER_13:

She's going, I can't think about it. All right, Natalie, what do you think? There's one answer left, but you still only have one strike.

SPEAKER_04:

So there's a couple options that I have here, and I think I'm gonna go with my gut, even though my gut says it's not something I tend to buy, but bags like loungeflies.

SPEAKER_13:

Oh loungefly. Okay. All right. Survey says Loungefly not on the board. Start preparing for a potential steal. We're gonna go back up to Bob. I've got one. Oh, back to me. Oh my god. Back to you. One answer left, but two strikes.

SPEAKER_10:

Can I hear the question again, please?

SPEAKER_13:

Seriously, name your favorite type of official Run Disney merchandise to buy at the expo. Oh uh glassware. Coffee mugs, wine glasses. Okay. All right. If coffee mugs, wine glasses, glassware is on the board, Rise and Run sweeps the category. If not, we go over the team we'll run for for the steal. Survey says it's on the board, and Rise and Run sweeps round one.

SPEAKER_08:

I have a question. Did was ears counted as like random clothing?

SPEAKER_10:

Way to go, T.

SPEAKER_13:

Uh no, it was not.

SPEAKER_08:

It just wasn't on there.

SPEAKER_13:

Brooks is too late to the party. It didn't make the top five. I I think I think a couple of people said it, but it was not enough in order to elicit uh to um elicit you know the the top five response.

SPEAKER_08:

Surprising.

SPEAKER_13:

All right, congratulations, team rise and run on taking the the win there in round one. So after that first round, our score is team rise and run 91. Team will run for zero, but as we always like to say, there is plenty of game still left to play. So we're gonna move now to round two. Give me John and give me Diana. Here we go. Hands on your buzzers. Here we go. We surveyed 100 Run Disney runners. Name the best Walt Disney World resort pool to relax in post-race. I saw Diana's hand first.

SPEAKER_18:

I'm gonna go with. Ooh. I'm gonna go with.

SPEAKER_10:

You don't get to buzz in and not have an answer, Diana. Polynesian.

SPEAKER_18:

But the second pool at the Polynesian. The second pool! The second pool at the Polynesian.

SPEAKER_13:

All right. Survey says.

SPEAKER_18:

Not the volcano pool.

SPEAKER_13:

The pools of the Polynesian. Because since most Disney resorts have multiple pools, we did the judging kit lump them all together. So the Polynesian comes in as the answer number two. So, John, you have an opportunity to find the number one answer here. So, Yacht and Beach Club? Yacht and Beach Club. Survey says that is the number one answer, Stromong Bay. So rise and run. You win the round again. So you get controlled. You're gonna play, you're gonna pass. And I'll say again here uh top six answers are on the board. Okay. Let's go, John. Let's go, Jack. Let's do it. Okay, let's go for it. Let's go for it. All right, you're going for it again. Okay. We move over to Jack. Jack, there are still four answers remaining. Yeah. Best resort pool or just resort in general with pools to relax in post-race.

SPEAKER_19:

Caribbean Beach.

SPEAKER_13:

Good answer. Caribbean Beach. Good answer, Jack.

SPEAKER_19:

They got a hot top.

SPEAKER_13:

He says. Yeah, that's a good one. Not in the top six. I'll be doing it. All right, Hannah. What are your thoughts here? Now she looks stressed.

SPEAKER_03:

I am stressed. Is it like a nice Marriott around?

SPEAKER_05:

I'm stressed because I don't have a lot of experience in this department. I've only ever stayed at uh Port Orleans and pop in my entire life. So like okay. Oh, and Sarah Saratoga, right? Is that right, Natalie?

SPEAKER_10:

Yes.

SPEAKER_05:

Natalie's my memory. I don't I don't remember what I do. Um you got this. I don't know what to say. I'm gonna go with my heart for Orleans just because I I'm sorry.

SPEAKER_13:

That's good. That's good. That's good. For the judging committee, I need you to be a little bit more specific. What side of Port Orleans?

SPEAKER_02:

Why? Whoa, whoa, whoa. We've got various clothing items. Port ordered.

SPEAKER_05:

Technically, it could be Riverside or French order.

SPEAKER_13:

Yeah, that's right.

SPEAKER_05:

Uh Riverside.

SPEAKER_13:

Riverside. Okay. Port Orleans Riverside survey says that's your second strike. All right. If not, we move over to World Run for the Right. But Natalie, what are your thoughts on the matter here?

SPEAKER_04:

Okay, so I think I have to go with Again, not my heart. And uh, but it also in my heart in a different way. And I'm actually gonna say that people like to go luxuriating in hippie dippy pool at Pop Sentry.

SPEAKER_13:

Yeah, hippie-dippy pool at Pop Sentry. All right. Survey says that is the number three answer on the board. Pop Sentry and the Hippy Dippy Pool. Alright, back up to you, Bob. Three answers left, but you have two strikes.

SPEAKER_10:

I'm staying there at Marathon Weekend because I like the hot tub, and that's French Quarter.

SPEAKER_13:

French Quarter, okay. Survey says French Quarter also on the board. The uh the Bloon Lagoon pool, if you're curious about the uh the name of the pool there. Okay. Two answers left, John. Over to you. Two answers left, two strikes, though.

SPEAKER_02:

I was gonna say Animal Kingdom.

SPEAKER_13:

Animal Kingdom, okay. Survey says not on the board, so we go over to Team Will Run for. There's two answers left.

SPEAKER_08:

What are you thinking, Diana?

SPEAKER_13:

What do you think?

SPEAKER_18:

I well, when he first asked the question, my brain immediately went to Margaritaville, which is not an option, and I have like a seizure. It just wasn't like my brain was malfunctioning. Um did anyone say boardwalk?

SPEAKER_01:

That's what I was saying there. Yeah, boardwalk is good.

SPEAKER_08:

You know, Coronado hasn't been mentioned. Coronado was Coronado's not bad either.

SPEAKER_01:

I'm okay with either of those. Yeah, I'm okay with either. You want to go with Coronado? I know a lot of people that's a bigger resort than boardwalk. That's a nice hot tub. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03:

Steve, we're gonna go with Coronado.

SPEAKER_13:

Coronado. Okay. If Coronado is on the board, team will run for steals. If not, this could be a runaway game. We'll have to see. Survey says it's on the board. Number four answered. Seven people said Coronado Springs.

SPEAKER_08:

Nice! Heck yeah.

SPEAKER_13:

Congratulations, team will run for uh before uh we move on to the next round. Just to reveal the final answer, uh, number uh the number six answer on the board that nobody mentioned. And this one I think is a little obscure, uh, but the sand castle pool over at Old Key West.

SPEAKER_18:

Yeah, interesting.

SPEAKER_01:

People who like old Key West love Old Key West. Yeah, love Old Qest.

SPEAKER_03:

Um hippie dippy pool. That's my damn.

SPEAKER_09:

You and me too. I'll see you there, Tom. Yep.

SPEAKER_13:

All right, we are two rounds in, and ladies and gentlemen, we got a tight game. Rise and run 91. Team will run for 87. I think this is probably one of the closest ones we have had. Very exciting, but we're now gonna move to round three. Give me Jack, give me Michael, here we go. All right, Jack, do you know how to use your buzzer this time?

SPEAKER_19:

Yes, because I I have a mouse this time. Look, it's raisin already. There we go. All right, no cheating, no cheating.

SPEAKER_02:

That's until he tells you.

SPEAKER_13:

All right, I I am very excited for this question because I just can't wait to hear the responses to it. But here we go. Name the best in park bathroom in Walt Disney World to take a Corral P stop, Michael.

SPEAKER_01:

That would be the uh Figment bathroom.

SPEAKER_13:

The Figment bathroom.

SPEAKER_01:

The one by behind Figment, the secret ones. All right.

SPEAKER_13:

Good answer. Good answer.

SPEAKER_18:

Nice, Michael.

SPEAKER_13:

That is on the board. It's the number four answer.

SPEAKER_08:

Ooh. It's my number one answer, Michael.

SPEAKER_13:

So, Jack, you have an opportunity here to get one, two, or three.

SPEAKER_19:

Oh no. Okay. Sorry, my my sister-in-law has keeps calling me. I'm gonna sorry back.

unknown:

Sorry.

SPEAKER_19:

I'm gonna say the German pavilion, the Germany bathrooms.

SPEAKER_13:

Germany. Germany bathrooms. Okay. Survey says Germany does not make the top seven answers on the board.

SPEAKER_18:

I didn't know Germany had bathrooms.

SPEAKER_01:

By the little train. Yeah, they're by the train. Yeah.

SPEAKER_13:

So that means control goes to we'll run for guys. Are you gonna play or are you gonna pass? Top seven answers on the board. Top seven?

SPEAKER_01:

Oh my god.

SPEAKER_03:

I think we have to name seven bathrooms in the park. I don't even think I know. I can think of like two.

SPEAKER_01:

I gotta pick three.

SPEAKER_03:

I I'll be honest, I kind of want to play. You want that?

SPEAKER_01:

There's no way we're gonna get Tom. Go for it. It's I assume these are race related, right?

SPEAKER_13:

Yes, these are these are in-park bathrooms you run by on a Walt Disney World race course. And for no one mentioned the bathroom in Disneyland, so this is just specifically Disney World.

SPEAKER_01:

All right, you want to go for it then? I I'm fine with it, whatever. Okay. All right.

SPEAKER_13:

Let's do it. All right, cousin Allie. Hi.

SPEAKER_08:

Hi. Okay. I'm gonna go with um I'm gonna go with the Tomorrowland bathroom.

SPEAKER_13:

The tomorrowland bathroom. I don't know.

SPEAKER_08:

I have any other one I could think of. Yeah.

SPEAKER_13:

Oh, you're you're you're seeing the bigger. I remember Heidi did her makeup in that bathroom.

SPEAKER_08:

Well, John and I were waiting outside. Yes.

SPEAKER_13:

Yes. All right. So tomorrowland bathroom survey says not on the board. Tony.

SPEAKER_08:

Sorry, family.

SPEAKER_13:

Where do you like to pee when you're when you're on a course?

SPEAKER_09:

Besides the side of the highway. Um I think the the the softball one here is obviously the Rapunzel bathrooms that you run by in Magic Kingdom. The Tangle Tower.

SPEAKER_13:

Okay. Survey says on the board. That's the number six answer. Oh my god. Six of seven. Only eight. Who even remembers all these bathrooms?

SPEAKER_08:

Yeah, we're missing the big one.

SPEAKER_02:

Somebody's a really bad bladder.

SPEAKER_08:

These are these are not like there's one I always in-park bathrooms.

SPEAKER_09:

You know when we run these races coming up, we're all gonna be looking at all the bathrooms.

SPEAKER_01:

When do we run by Rapunzel? We ran by it at least last year, Marathon weekend. Marathon. Oh, yeah. And sometimes Princess. That's right.

SPEAKER_13:

Right, Princess. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Tom, we go back up to you, sir. Oh Lord.

SPEAKER_18:

You wanted to play, and you don't even have one.

SPEAKER_03:

Iron blue. Okay, so I'm gonna describe where it is, but it's it's in Hollywood Studios. Yes. Like like that side area where it's like there's like this ramp. You know what I'm talking about?

SPEAKER_10:

Yeah, it's on uh Hollywood or Vine.

SPEAKER_03:

Is that by Tower of Terror? Yes, it helps.

SPEAKER_02:

Email Bob.

SPEAKER_03:

I know where he's going. That little nook.

unknown:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_08:

It's not the Tower of Terror one. The one at the top of the room. The one before that with the ramp.

SPEAKER_09:

No, I know which one. It's a little right before Tower of Terror. It's kind of where we exit or enter Hollywood studios a lot of it.

SPEAKER_18:

Yeah, yeah, kind of by like phantasmic.

SPEAKER_10:

It's between those two stores. Yeah. Yep.

SPEAKER_09:

Those two different ones you think.

SPEAKER_13:

All right. Here we go. So Tower of Terror adjacent area. Survey says that is the number seven answer on the board. The Tower of Terror area.

SPEAKER_08:

Obvious ones.

SPEAKER_13:

Yeah, you're getting the bottom of the board. It's the top of the board that you're struggling with. Diana, what do you think here?

SPEAKER_18:

I always pee in England, like right where that turn is. Um kind of like that's just funny right there.

SPEAKER_10:

I always pee in England. Yeah, but by the telephone booth. By the telephone booth.

SPEAKER_13:

Yeah, in the booth, yeah, but next to it.

SPEAKER_11:

Next to the booth.

SPEAKER_13:

All right. The United Kingdom survey says.

SPEAKER_18:

I pee there every race.

SPEAKER_13:

That is your second strike. We go back to Michael. Michael, there are still four answers on the board, but rise and run, get ready for a potential steal here.

SPEAKER_03:

I'm gonna be real. We should probably should have played this one.

SPEAKER_08:

I mean, you've got to get this, Michael.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, so I'm trying to think. This is one, it's not really technically in the park, but it's definitely on the course, and it's on multiple courses. Uh, and that's the TTC bathroom that you run right past that literally everybody uses.

SPEAKER_18:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_13:

Okay. All right. The ticket and transportation center bathrooms. If it's on the board, we continue on. If not, we go over the rise and run. Survey says. All right. All right. Rise and run. What we can do. I've got another one.

SPEAKER_02:

My thing is where everybody goes, I think, on that long course, is that one in Animal Kingdom in uh Asia?

SPEAKER_10:

But only one race goes through Animal Kingdom.

SPEAKER_05:

I know. I think we should consult Natalie. Natalie skips America's appreciation lives.

SPEAKER_04:

Skyliner bathrooms save lives.

SPEAKER_10:

Which skyline.

SPEAKER_04:

Also the American Adventure Pavilion.

SPEAKER_10:

About America. I think America. That goes by almost every race.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, that's true.

SPEAKER_10:

Yeah. Yeah. The problem with Animal Kingdom is only one race goes by this. Okay.

SPEAKER_19:

Well, the only the only reason why I say no to the American ones is because it's so in the back. It's out of the it's out of the way. And not many people think of it right away.

SPEAKER_08:

I can think of so many bathrooms that people use now. Now that the pressure's off.

SPEAKER_13:

All right, Rise and Run. I need a consensus answer here.

SPEAKER_10:

All right. No, there's no consensus. I'm just going to be obnoxious and say America. America. America.

SPEAKER_02:

America. Say that you said Bob.

SPEAKER_13:

All right. If if America is on the board, Rise and Run gets the steal. Here we go. Survey says the American adventure, the number three answer. Answer on the board. That one has never crossed my mind.

SPEAKER_18:

The second guess was Norway.

SPEAKER_09:

Like, yeah, me too. John's was my guess.

SPEAKER_13:

So here we go. This is what ran out. The number one answer, Diana, you got it, is Norway. Twenty people said Norway. I went down. The number two answer was that bathroom. I think it's nearby um the Skipper's Canteen restaurant, that one that connects Adventureland and Frontierland. Right, right. That was believe it or not, that was the number two answer. Very shocking.

SPEAKER_02:

Will they ride that enough?

SPEAKER_13:

Twice.

SPEAKER_10:

Three times.

SPEAKER_13:

Three times. The number five answer was that new bathroom that they built next to the refreshment port in Epcot. Oh, yeah, okay. I know it. Oh, yeah. It used to be right next to Starbucks before the Yes, yeah. It was a Starbucks, but now it's like the ice cream festival. Oh, yeah, that was big.

unknown:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_08:

No matter what, we can all agree we love an indoor and flushable bathroom where you can wash your hands.

SPEAKER_04:

Some of y'all need to use the Skylighter bathroom. That's what I'm saying.

SPEAKER_10:

No, that's a good one. I'll run that fast. Something to look forward to.

SPEAKER_13:

Alright, so congratulations, Team Rise and Run. You uh are are the, I guess, temporarily the best Corral peers uh around uh since you were able to get all of those. But after three rounds, our score, Team Rise and Run 128. Team will run for 87. So we'll run for you got lucky because they didn't get the big ones. Not as many points in that round. So it's still a uh pretty darn close game, but we are going to now move to round four. Give me cousin Allie and give me Hannah. Here we go. Let's do this.

SPEAKER_03:

You got this, you got this, cousin Allie.

SPEAKER_13:

All right, they did the virtual handshakes. Okay, here is the question. We surveyed 100 Run Disney runners, and just because I'm feeling nice, points are doubled for this round. This guy. Top six answers on the board. We're heading back to the expo, folks. Name a vendor you can find at the Run Disney Expo. Cousin Ally.

SPEAKER_08:

We're gonna go with Jeff Galloway. I know he's not a vendor.

SPEAKER_13:

Jeff Galloway. Survey says that is answer number four on the board.

SPEAKER_08:

He's my number one answer.

SPEAKER_13:

So Hannah, you have an opportunity to take control with one one, two, or three. What do you think?

SPEAKER_08:

Oh, wait, no, yeah. Like I already looked, I don't know.

SPEAKER_05:

Um I was thinking about Sparkle Athletic. What's the vendor that sells all the different like fuel and stuff, and their colors are like you can't ask questions. I can talk to myself though. Out loud. I have to go with Sparkle Athletic because I can't remember the name of it.

SPEAKER_13:

Sparkle Athletic. Okay. Survey says good one. That's the number one answer. Sparkle athletics. Wow. Yeah, that's what I was doing. All right, team rise and run. You have control. So are you gonna play or are you gonna pass? Again, six answers, Hannah. Six answers on the board, two are gone. Let's go for it.

SPEAKER_05:

I have trust in my team.

SPEAKER_13:

Okay, all right. Natalie. Oh, shoot, that's being a vendor you can find at the Run Disney Expo.

SPEAKER_04:

Uh, fit to run.

SPEAKER_13:

That's a good one. That's a good one. Survey says that is the number two answer on the board. I should also admit that none of these vendors have paid off the Rise and Run podcast.

SPEAKER_10:

Not yet. Bob, what do you think here? I'm torn between two. Um, but I'm gonna go. I'm gonna go with shocks.

SPEAKER_13:

Shocks, okay. Survey says not on the board. First strike. John. I had two. Can I go with the other one?

SPEAKER_02:

No, I'm you want to give it to me? No. I'm going with KT tape. KT tape. Okay, that's a good one.

SPEAKER_13:

That's good, yeah. Survey says that's your second strike. I'm surprised, John. I thought that was a good one.

SPEAKER_08:

I visit that booth every year.

SPEAKER_13:

Jack, three answers left, but two strikes.

SPEAKER_19:

Gooder.

SPEAKER_13:

Gooder. Survey says. Unfortunately, that is your third strike. Control now goes over to we'll run four.

SPEAKER_01:

Gotta be raw threads, right?

SPEAKER_08:

Well, we yeah, we got raw threads. We got the jewelry people. Rawls? Wait, yeah.

SPEAKER_03:

Cliffs, blocks. I literally know no other ones in there. I never literally walked through. I don't think I've ever gone into the thing. I think raw threads is a slam dunk. Yeah, they're always there.

SPEAKER_18:

They're back. They've only been back for like a year. I'm cool with raw threads.

SPEAKER_08:

Yeah, I like them a lot.

SPEAKER_13:

Okay, so final answer is raw threads. We're jewelry thingy. If raw threads is on the board, we'll run four with the steel. If not, the points go over to Rise and Run. Raw Threads survey says did not make it, unfortunately.

SPEAKER_02:

What expo has these people been going to?

SPEAKER_08:

With Fluffy. I was gonna say fluffy. Just came into my head and I didn't. Andora?

SPEAKER_02:

My next one was gonna be.

SPEAKER_13:

They have been here for a while.

SPEAKER_05:

The clicks people.

SPEAKER_13:

So uh to round out the board, uh, you're finally starting to name some of them. The number three answer, our uh good friend BB Brook. Yeah, was the uh was the number three answer. What the hell is that? What is that?

SPEAKER_18:

I don't even know. What is that?

SPEAKER_10:

No, she she sells uh she sells jewelry, ears, headbands.

SPEAKER_18:

I have no idea what you're talking about. Uh she is a person. She's a nice person. It's nothing against I have no idea who this vendor is.

SPEAKER_11:

That's her.

SPEAKER_10:

I don't I don't think she's going anymore. I she was in Disneyland last year at Halloween. I haven't seen her over there for a while.

SPEAKER_19:

I think she was at Wine and Dine.

SPEAKER_10:

Was she okay?

SPEAKER_19:

She's only been around for like a season and a half.

SPEAKER_13:

Yeah, she she is a a newer vendor, but yeah, she she has been at the expo before. Uh, the number five answer, uh, Brooke Shoes, uh, made the the top five. And then as you uh uh Afley uh mentioned uh there at the end, uh the number six was um our good friends over at Fluffy Fizsies made the uh also have no idea what fluffy fizzies are.

SPEAKER_18:

Like, what are you guys talking about? They are a sponsor of some podcasts.

SPEAKER_09:

You need to listen to the Rise and Run podcast.

SPEAKER_18:

Also, no, I've never listened to an episode of Rise and Run. To be fair, I've also never listened to an episode of Will Run 4. It's true. Tom was listening to it one day in the car, and I was like, who is speaking? And he said Greg, and I was like, I had no idea.

SPEAKER_03:

Unbelievable. Wow.

SPEAKER_08:

Oh man, Diana, I love you so much and your hot takes.

SPEAKER_13:

Oh boy, oh boy. This is why I love these episodes. All right, now now that the scores have been tabulated after four rounds, wow, team rise and run 242, team will run for 87, but in the fifth and final round, those points are tripled, and this could be anybody's game. But before we get to the uh fifth round, this round brought to you by Cliff's blocks. We put the extra F in fuel. All right, here we go. Give me Natalie, give me Hollywood, let's go.

SPEAKER_03:

Come on, Tony.

SPEAKER_13:

No pressure. No, Natalie.

SPEAKER_04:

The battle of the oldest.

SPEAKER_13:

All right, here we go. Our fifth and final question: hands on your buzzers. Name your favorite Run Disney on course entertainment outside of the characters. Tony's hand was first.

SPEAKER_09:

Premature buzzer. Um, outside of the characters. So is like DJs too uh just you know, just asking generally, is that too vague?

SPEAKER_13:

That's up to you.

SPEAKER_08:

Good answer. I think that's a good answer to it.

SPEAKER_09:

All right, DJs.

SPEAKER_13:

DJs, okay. And sorry, I should have said this up top. Top four answers are on the board. DJs. Survey says, and that is the number four answer. So, Natalie, you have an opportunity here to take control.

SPEAKER_04:

Gonna have to go with the gospel choir.

SPEAKER_13:

The gospel choir. Yep, there you go. Survey says that is the number one answer. So rise and run.

SPEAKER_09:

So technically they don't sing half the time, it's like a track playing under them. So that's kind of like a DJ.

SPEAKER_18:

Yeah, they're DJs. That's like my favorite thing is those tiny kids lip syncing. It looks so dumb. I love it.

SPEAKER_13:

All right, rise and run. What are you doing here? Oh, let's go for it, Natalie.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, let's do it.

SPEAKER_13:

Okay, all right. Bob, we move on to you, sir. There's two two s answers left here.

SPEAKER_10:

Um I'm gonna go with the uh the race announcers.

SPEAKER_13:

The race announcers. All right. Survey says not on the board. John.

SPEAKER_02:

I was gonna go with the bands, the marching bands. Oh, that's good, John. That's good.

SPEAKER_13:

All right, survey says. That is the number two answer on the board, the marching bands.

SPEAKER_10:

Ready to go, John.

SPEAKER_13:

Thank you. All right, Jack, one answer left, only one strike, though.

SPEAKER_19:

Can you can you ask the question again? I just want to make sure that's a good idea.

SPEAKER_13:

Yeah, I can absolutely do that for you. Name your favorite Run Disney on-course entertainment outside of a character.

SPEAKER_19:

Oh god. Okay, okay. What's the what's okay? I don't know exactly their official name, but it's the people with the camel and the martini glass.

SPEAKER_10:

Oh, yeah. The adventurers club.

SPEAKER_19:

Thank you, that one.

SPEAKER_13:

Okay. If if that is if that is on the board, Rise and Run sweeps the category and goes on the fast money. If not, we keep going.

SPEAKER_19:

Oh, I have a different answer, but it's okay.

SPEAKER_02:

We'll just hold it for now.

SPEAKER_03:

Don't blurt it out, okay? What's that answer? What is your second answer?

SPEAKER_10:

Just whispered it. I know.

SPEAKER_13:

No, no, no.

SPEAKER_11:

I'm not lucky at it.

SPEAKER_13:

All right, here we go. Survey says. So the the judging committee on this one went with actors. So human actors. Because a lot of people mentioned Jody. You know, um, you know, that was my second guess. You know, the this um, what do you want to call it? The you know, when they do the thing, the camper and stuff like that.

SPEAKER_05:

So we are on the wavelength, Jack.

SPEAKER_13:

Yeah, the the committee went with actors on that one. So, congratulations, team rise and run. Gets the win of the round and the win of the game. Congratulations.

unknown:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_13:

All right, so now that uh the regular game is over, you guys have a decision to make here. What two players are gonna go on to play fast money?

SPEAKER_08:

And we can go backstage and have drinks now.

SPEAKER_13:

Absolutely, yes. Okay, yeah. But you need to you need you need to stick around though for for the end of the episode surprise.

SPEAKER_18:

I think you guys should just pick Tom on the opposite team to just see what he says. Yeah, I agree. Please don't put me through this.

SPEAKER_10:

Hey, friends, are you okay if I let our guests, uh Hannah and Natalie, go? I'm fine with that. Absolutely. All right. Are they fine with it?

SPEAKER_05:

Hannah does not matter.

SPEAKER_10:

That's the same as my American answer. It doesn't matter. We're going with it.

SPEAKER_13:

Okay. Well, actually, in the spirit of Tom, Fast Money is brought to you by Tour Austria. We are the landlocked Norway of Europe booking holiday today. Okay. All right. Who is going to go first in Fast Money?

SPEAKER_05:

Natalie can go first.

SPEAKER_13:

Okay. All right. So, Hannah, what I need you to do.

SPEAKER_02:

Do you know what you're doing, Hannah? Like the process of this? No. Maybe you should go first.

SPEAKER_04:

I know the end of it. It's the end of the of the game. Yeah, it's the end of the game.

SPEAKER_11:

I'm gonna look easier.

SPEAKER_13:

Yeah, correct. Yeah, Natalie, take off your headphones and mute your mic. Yep, there we go. All right, perfect. Okay, all right.

SPEAKER_05:

I'm panicking just a little bit.

SPEAKER_13:

Just a little bit.

SPEAKER_10:

That's okay. That's okay. Nothing to lose.

SPEAKER_13:

Again, so the non-existent timer will begin after I'm done reading the first question. Are you ready?

SPEAKER_05:

I guess so.

SPEAKER_13:

All right, here we go. Name an extinct attraction that used to be found at Walt Disney World.

SPEAKER_05:

The thing in the tree of life, the bug's life show.

SPEAKER_13:

That's good. Name a song heard on Guardians of the Galaxy. September. Name the most underrated Run Disney race weekend.

SPEAKER_05:

Springtime.

SPEAKER_13:

Name your favorite type of Walt Disney World transportation.

SPEAKER_05:

Boat carry thing, you know, on the water.

SPEAKER_13:

Name a Run Disney race distance or challenge that sells out first on registration day.

SPEAKER_05:

Dopey.

SPEAKER_13:

Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding.

SPEAKER_05:

I don't think I understood the question.

SPEAKER_18:

You sounded so calm. Like you sounded so put together. Like, I feel like whenever we've done it, we're just like screaming. Um, that's like my own.

SPEAKER_08:

She should be back.

SPEAKER_09:

Natalie came back right on time as I finished. That was a little uh question. That's interesting.

SPEAKER_03:

Interesting how that works.

SPEAKER_13:

Natalie got you still gotta take your headphones off.

SPEAKER_10:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_08:

Okay, sorry. That was my phone.

SPEAKER_10:

I'm in a phone. You can sit there like, well, you can't hear me.

SPEAKER_13:

Okay. Alright. So the first question was name an extinct traction at Walt Disney World, and you said a Bug's life.

SPEAKER_05:

What's that sound?

SPEAKER_13:

Zero people said Bugs Life.

SPEAKER_10:

That wasn't bad. Hannah, that wasn't bad.

SPEAKER_13:

Alright. Name a song heard on Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind. You said September survey says number one answer. 61 people said Guardians of the Galaxy.

SPEAKER_02:

It's gotta be number one answer now. Yeah.

SPEAKER_13:

It does, yeah. Alright. Name the most underrated race weekend of that Run Disney offers. You said Springtime Surprise.

SPEAKER_18:

Number one.

SPEAKER_13:

62 people said springtime surprise. How many? 62.

SPEAKER_03:

That's because that's the one we go to.

SPEAKER_18:

Yeah. That's buying us at Springtime Surprise. And only that weekend because they priced us out.

SPEAKER_13:

Name your favorite type of Walt Disney World transportation. You said boat survey says 10 people. Okay.

SPEAKER_05:

That's good. I definitely didn't realize I was trying to guess what other people would guess. Oh. It's my actual favorite.

SPEAKER_10:

That's okay. That's that's the way to go. That's all right.

SPEAKER_03:

And then it's like I'm a plane.

SPEAKER_13:

And then the final question: name a Run Disney distance or challenge that sells out first on race day. And you said dopey. 26 people said dopey. Hannah, congratulations. You scored 1590. All right. Let's get Natalie back into the studio game.

SPEAKER_18:

That was so funny. I didn't know I was supposed to be picking the popular answer. That's probably forgotten the whole game.

SPEAKER_03:

That was awesome.

SPEAKER_18:

I told you I'm anxious. I loved that.

SPEAKER_08:

You did really good, though.

SPEAKER_18:

So good.

SPEAKER_13:

All right, Natalie. Your podcast co-host did not feel confident going into this. But in fast money, you gotta score 200 points to win. She got 159 points.

SPEAKER_04:

Oh, let's go. Yeah.

SPEAKER_13:

You only need to score 41 points. No pressure. That's that's the good news. The bad news is we usually, when you only have that many points to score, it's harder to come up with the number one answers. But we got confidence in you. Yeah, we do. Natalie, the uh the fake timer will begin after I end the first question. If you repeat an answer that Hannah said, I will make an obnoxious noise with my mouth to signify that you repeated the answer. Are you ready, my friend?

SPEAKER_04:

Ready, as I'll be.

SPEAKER_13:

Alright, here we go. Name an extinct attraction that used to be found at Walt Disney World. Maelstrom. Name a song heard on Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind.

SPEAKER_04:

September.

SPEAKER_13:

Uh-uh. Everyone wants to rule the world. Name the most underrated Run Disney race weekend.

SPEAKER_04:

Princess Half Marathon weekend.

SPEAKER_13:

Name your favorite type of Walt Disney World transportation.

SPEAKER_04:

Skyliner.

SPEAKER_03:

Natalie, you were all business.

SPEAKER_13:

I know.

SPEAKER_19:

I I love it. It's still.

SPEAKER_03:

Don't try to throw her off, Tom.

SPEAKER_13:

Okay. Name a Run Disney distance or race challenge that sells out first on registration day. The goofy challenge. Okay. Facial expression differences between the two are minus.

SPEAKER_03:

We are okay.

SPEAKER_10:

Yeah, we got to go. Those are good. They did well.

SPEAKER_03:

We got beaten pretty badly, so it's fine.

SPEAKER_18:

You had to play when I have the bathroom. You had to play the bathroom round, Tom.

SPEAKER_13:

Merica. All right. Named Extinct Attraction that used to be found at Walt Disney World. You said Maelstrom.

SPEAKER_18:

Good answer.

SPEAKER_13:

Survey says four people for maelstrom. All right. Number one answer was Mr. Toad's Is Snow White on there at all?

SPEAKER_10:

Is there a Snow White ride? Is there a dinosaur?

SPEAKER_03:

Okay. Wouldn't dinosaurs be on there or something? It's not a snow white.

SPEAKER_13:

Yes, Moppet Vision was on there, yes. R.I.P. Uh question number two name a song heard on Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind. You said everyone wants to rule the world. Survey says ten people said that. Of course, the number one answer was September. So you have you're at 173, so you need 27 more points. Name the most underrated Run Disney race weekend. You're gonna get it right here. You said Princess. Gonna get it right here. Survey says six people said princess. Springtime surprise was the number one answer.

SPEAKER_04:

I'm performing like my fantasy team right now, and that's not a compliment.

SPEAKER_18:

Hannah got two she got like two number one answers. So they are difficult.

SPEAKER_13:

Okay. Name your favorite type of Walt Disney World transportation. You said this is the one the sky. You got it, yeah. Survey says 55. Play the song. High five. Rise and run. Virtual group hug. Winning fast money. Nicely done. Congratulations. Now I said that there was gonna be a surprise. Surprise and run. The prize for this game is that Bob, as team captain, your prizes, you get to tell Team Will Run for their special parting gift.

SPEAKER_10:

Friends, on on behalf of all of the Rise and Run family, and I mean that sincerely, we are excited to be donating$250 to Aaron's charity. Oh thank you so much.

SPEAKER_03:

Thank you so much.

SPEAKER_02:

Heck yeah. Yes, I love that. You get some you get some cliff blocks, Tom. Yes.

SPEAKER_03:

Are you pronouncing that right? I love that.

SPEAKER_13:

Michael, could you just uh give us a few more details about this uh the scholarship fund uh that uh that you oh yes so I established a scholarship fund over the summer, actually.

SPEAKER_01:

Um might have been early in the summer, whenever it was. Uh so Erin went to Rowan University, uh which is in New Jersey, for those who don't know, uh, and she was cared for at Cooper University Hospital. Rowan University now has a medical program at Cooper University, uh, which I didn't know at the time because I was just going to set up a scholarship at Rowan. Um and they had mentioned their medical school is intertwined with Cooper. So I was like, oh, that kind of works out well because she was cared for at Cooper and went to Rowan. Um so basically each year it will give out a scholarship. Uh this year it's giving out, I think, a$3,000 scholarship for a medical student focusing on anything within cancer treatment, research, oncology of any kind, something like that. So and then each year it'll just depend on uh, you know, it's based on a percentage of how the fund grows essentially.

SPEAKER_10:

So hey Michael, if our friends who are listening want to donate to that independently, how can they do it?

SPEAKER_01:

Um I I will actually put uh a link in my bio and in uh the will run for bio to make it a little easier.

SPEAKER_13:

Okay. Okay, we and we can post a link on the uh the Rise Run Facebook page as well. Yeah. And for all of those of you who are participating this weekend in the virtually live in your um race materials that uh Michael sent to you, you got a little business card here that does have a QR code on it that will uh directly link you uh to that website to make a donation as well. So um, yeah, so congratulations, guys. This was something that we had talked about for a while about wanting to do. So uh we figured this was a very appropriate parting gift. Uh, thank you guys. Thank you so much, really. And you know, and thank you for all that you have done to draw awareness to all the communities that Aaron loved and uh we miss her dearly. Uh, and we know that uh she was in this game tonight in spirit yelling at all of you for not being true Disney fans.

SPEAKER_18:

She also explained how the points work to me for like an hour after we recorded last time, and I retained none of it. Like I have I still have no idea how the port was.

SPEAKER_03:

But this was fun.

SPEAKER_13:

Some of it was yeah, yeah. So so you know, folks, always remember when you're out there on your training runs, especially this weekend during virtually live. Remember to crush your goals no matter what they are. And if you see a dog, make sure you pet all the dogs. Thank you so much for joining us here. Congratulations, Team Rise to Run, taking the 2-1 series win. Um, but you know what? Even though you have the lead now, I think these episodes are so fun enough that I think we need to make this an annual tradition and just keep doing it year after year. So thank you to We'll Run for Stride Sisters, even though you're not here. Doug, we miss you. Tony, thanks so much for uh for uh gracing us with your presence again on this episode. We greatly appreciate it. Cousin cousin Allie. Oh, and cousin Allie. Can't forget cousin Al.

SPEAKER_08:

I'm just in the family.

SPEAKER_13:

That you are. Thank you for joining us for this very special episode of Podcast Family Feud.

SPEAKER_10:

SPEAKER_08:

That's cousin Allie to you, Bob.

SPEAKER_10:

Yes. Oh well, cousin Allie. We're glad. No, you're nah you're closer than that.

SPEAKER_08:

I'm back to I'm back to being family. This is the family. From rising run family. I threw the game for for Will Renfort.

SPEAKER_10:

Oh boy, wait till they hear that.

SPEAKER_08:

I'm pretty sure they know I'm just dumb as bricks. So oh my goodness.

SPEAKER_10:

I was pr I was pretty proud of Merica.

SPEAKER_08:

Yeah, it was pretty good.

We'll also want to thank our Patreons whose support helps us keep the Rise and Run Podcast rising and running. If you'd like to join the Patreon team, please check us out at patreon.com slash rise and run podcast. And we'd like to welcome newest Patreon, Nicole, who joined us at Mandalorian.

SPEAKER_10:

Nicole, thank you so much. If if uh if you haven't heard from me by the time this airs, shame on me, but I'll be getting with you with an email in just a little bit.

SPEAKER_13:

The Rise and Run Podcast is sponsored by our wonderful friends over at Magic Bound Travel. And you know what, gang? I think we got a little bone to pick with Magic Bound. Brad and Maggie just got off the brand new Disney Destiny, and they didn't invite any of us. Son of a gun.

SPEAKER_08:

I didn't get an invite.

SPEAKER_13:

So, but it seems like they had an absolutely heroic time on that ship since it's all themed to heroes and villains. Oh, okay. Um, you know, all all the the stuff coming out on social media on their socials and and and socials around the Disney spheres. This looks like an absolutely awesome ship. I'm dying to get on it. And if you're dying to get on any Disney cruise ship, our friends over at Magic Bound Travel can definitely help arrange that for you. So be sure to visit MagicBoundTravel.com to get your no obligation vacation quote.

SPEAKER_10:

There you go. Magicboundtravel.com is their website. Check 'em out. Guys, let's look at the training schedule. Marathon weekend at Walt Disney World. Now seven weeks away. We are in training week 21. And the way it runs now, now that the numbers are up high, your long runs out around 20 miles or plus, you're going to have two down weeks between every long week. And you probably only have two long weeks left. But this week, if you're doing the beginner's marathon plan, you have six miles. If you're doing the goofy or dopey challenge, it's one of those four to six mile weeks. The Disneyland half marathon. Now ten weeks away. We're in training week eight. It's, I think this may be the first double up. No, it's probably the second. This is the first one. The second one, yep. Yeah. Second double up in training. If you're doing the challenge, you have a two-mile walk and then a nine and a half mile run walk. Princess Weekend is 14 weeks away. We're down to double digits in days. Actually, on the day that we're recording, we are exactly 100 days away. But on the day of release, it'll be 98 days till Expo Day for Princess Weekend. Training week number four, the long run is five miles. Looking at a non-Disney event that many of our friends go to, Space Coast weekend is coming up really quickly. Uh it's it's the weekend of Thanksgiving, so it's just a week away. We're actually 10 days to the expo. We'll have some kind of get together there, friends. I have not, I'd like to talk with uh Coach Chris Twiggs at Customize because a bunch of customized friends and a bunch of rise and run friends are there, and we'll try to get together maybe Saturday afternoon, maybe go to dinner or something like that. I know Becky and I always spend Sunday afternoon at the Careeb Brewery, the place where they make that wonderful pineapple cider that you get at Disney World. Yeah. However, I also know a lot of our friends leave before then. We have the luxury of being retired people, so we can come home on Monday. Heck, we can even stop by Disney World on Monday on the way home. And uh, but we'll do something. There'll be a bunch of us there. I look forward to that. Uh let us see. I want to share some information on Rise and Run Friends and some of the things that they've done. You recall our friend Andres, who made that terrific documentary film on running his first dopey. We had him on the podcast a while ago. He won a couple of awards. The Jollywood Awards. Now, the Jollywood Awards are earned and awarded in Orlando, but they're not a direct tie-in to the Jollywood nights at Hollywood Studios. It's independent, and I think they just kind of borrowed the name. Anyway, Andres won Best Music for a Feature Film and second place for Best Documentary feature at the Jollywood Film Festival.

SPEAKER_12:

That's awesome.

SPEAKER_10:

Yeah, it is. Congratulations, Andres. That's really neat. I'm I'm glad we were able to, you know, feature that and a lot of our friends got to see it. That's good stuff. Our friend Andrew the Puppet Runner, he has been nominated for acting awards in his acting community. And I think we get a chance to vote for him. Now, the best suggestion I have if you're interested, it's R Andrew Strickland. And you can look for him on our Facebook group page and cast your vote for Andrew. If you are going all right now, if you're going to Honolulu, listen up, pay attention. If you're going to Honolulu to run with Jeff, there's an opportunity to participate in a surprise for Jeff and Barb. I can't give you much more information than that, but if you're going and you would like to participate, please email me Bob at Rise and RunPodcast.com and I will forward the information to our Rise and Run friend Mary, who's a big part of this. So look out for that.

SPEAKER_13:

Bob, what if you just whispered like really softly that way Jeff wouldn't hear it?

SPEAKER_10:

Well, yeah, the the funny thing was uh I was asked if Jeff listens to the podcast, and to the best of my knowledge, the answer to that is no. Now I know obviously he's very familiar with the podcast, he's a big friend of the podcast, but I don't think he listens on a regular basis. And he's so busy this time of year, I'm not sure he listens to any podcast right now. But still, I don't want to I promised Mary I wouldn't uh spoil the surprise. So if you'd like to participate that and you're heading out to Honolulu, let me know, please. Bob at RiseandrunPodcast.com. Friends, we have any training updates we'd like to share.

SPEAKER_19:

Yes, I would love to share them.

SPEAKER_10:

We we're glad you would.

SPEAKER_19:

But um, I will say if you want to hear about it or watch it, then you're more welcome to go check out our YouTube channel because a new video is popping up on Saturday.

SPEAKER_13:

Jack, that was impressive. You did a plug and a tease all in the same sentence. That's good. I like that.

SPEAKER_19:

I'm learning from the best.

SPEAKER_10:

That is impressive. Yeah, we talked a bunch about training last week. I mean, everything we said still holds. We know it's tough, but hang in there. These are the days that really make the weekend much more fun for you.

SPEAKER_12:

Caution runners, change of topic ahead.

SPEAKER_10:

Hey, we saw Disney release medals for Princess Weekend.

SPEAKER_19:

Ooh la la.

SPEAKER_10:

Yeah, what did we think?

SPEAKER_19:

Do you want to go first, Bob?

SPEAKER_10:

Yeah, I thought they were okay. Okay, there we go.

SPEAKER_19:

They're just fine.

SPEAKER_10:

They're okay. John, we've established that already.

SPEAKER_02:

I I I I you don't like them? The 5k medal, I think Merida's like looking for some coffee right now. She's like, very stressed out.

SPEAKER_19:

That's my favorite one.

SPEAKER_02:

She's like, I need I need coffee before I start doing anything else.

SPEAKER_10:

Hey, who's going to Princess Weekend? I I'm going for the challenge.

SPEAKER_13:

I think you're the only one out of us that's going, Bob.

SPEAKER_10:

Could be. Could be. Let me see. I'll I'll look at our list here. Um Princess Yeah, just me.

SPEAKER_13:

I mean, I I I will say this. I I made this comment to my wife yesterday when I was talking to her about the medals. You know, I I have I have never run uh Princess Half Marathon weekend, and I know there's a whole host of reasons as to why you should do a race weekend, and obviously a medal should not be the end-all be-all in terms of your decision. Obviously, you have to make the decision before the medal comes out. That being said, in all of my years of participating in Run Disney events, this is the first year where I think I'm going to have some major FOMO in terms of a princess weekend because I thought this metal set was outstanding. Okay. I I think that they they really dug deep in terms of the creativity, in terms of the the bearer um paw print and the the stained glass on the challenge. Yeah. Uh, you know, the the Rapunzel one, probably for the half marathon, uh, out of the four, even though I think it is a beautiful medal, it's probably my my least favorite out of the set. But you know, I I really gotta commend Run Disney. You guys have been knocking it out of the park in terms of creativity. You know, this is the third set in the row now between um you know, between Marathon Weekend, Disneyland, and now Princess, where it just it's a really, really stellar job. I love the creativity, and you know, I know there's been a lot of chatter on social media as well, too, about it doesn't look like there's barely any movement if movement at all on all of these, and that if this is a new direction that they're going towards, I'm I'm here for it. I I I thought they were brilliant and I thought they were beautiful. Job well done. I like that.

SPEAKER_19:

Okay, so I'm just gonna basically echo what Greg said because these are absolutely gorgeous. I love like the stained glass looks, and they're actually in all of them because in Milanas, it's in it's like at the bottom, like the the top of the boat. Then the paw print is all stained glass, the um Rapunzel one is obviously the purple in the background. It these are just so stunning. I'm so excited for you guys. I'm actually so sad I want all of them.

SPEAKER_10:

Well, I'll let you see mine, Jack.

SPEAKER_19:

Okay, it's not the same, but like Meredith is my girl because she and I share the same curls.

SPEAKER_10:

That's the one I'm not getting. I'm just running the challenge.

SPEAKER_19:

I just wow, good job, Disney. And the fact, like Greg said, like that they don't move. I really do like this classic kind of feel to them because you don't have to have everything with a gadget or gizmo of plenty of people.

SPEAKER_10:

I've been an advocate of that for a long time. I agree a hundred percent.

SPEAKER_08:

It does make them super heavy too when you're like walking around the park. Some of those movement ones that I have are like and then they break.

SPEAKER_19:

Like the one from Disneyland, I literally opened up the metal. Uh the I'm sorry, I literally opened up like the little plastic packet that it comes in, and I like took it out, and all of a sudden the thing that was like a slider fell off. And I was just like, and then I just I was already back where you know, past where you can get the medals. I was like, I'm not going back. And I tried to ask for a new one, and then they sent me the wrong medal.

SPEAKER_10:

No kidding.

SPEAKER_19:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_10:

Oh, you didn't tell us that before. That that's too bad.

SPEAKER_19:

Yeah. It was my first 5k at Disneyland.

SPEAKER_10:

Oh. Well, you know, I've been an advocate for a long time because my you know my point. No matter what they do, you hang them on your wall and they never do it.

SPEAKER_02:

You never do anything with them. And that pewter finish kind of is totally different than that usual bronze goldish finish they usually do, which really really makes it step out a little bit.

SPEAKER_10:

All right, so the consensus is a thumbs up on the princess medals. Boy, it seems funny to be talking about the princess races. Although they get here, we just went through how far away they are. We'll get here before you know it.

SPEAKER_12:

Caution runners, the topic is about to change right now.

SPEAKER_10:

Now, normally at this time of an episode, I would turn to my friends and ask, what would Alicia do? But Alicia would this week enjoy cruising wherever she is. So instead, it's time to talk about stuff Jack says.

SPEAKER_19:

That's not what it is, Bob. You want to use the real word?

SPEAKER_10:

I forgot GMG. Oh, yeah, no, because it can get you down. No, I no, no. Have dagum stuff Jack says.

SPEAKER_19:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_10:

Okay.

SPEAKER_19:

Okay. So I'm just thoroughly curious because I don't get bothered by too much, but this one thing bothers me. It's like a pet peeve of mine. But before I say what mine is, do you guys have like any pet peeves when you guys are like working out or any kind of fitness stuff or whatnot?

SPEAKER_13:

My biggest pet peeve is when I am forced to go to the gym to do my run on a treadmill. I get so mad sometimes at the gym owners when I am on a treadmill that slips. Oh and I am for some reason I went the this was a this was a couple of months ago. I went on three consecutive treadmills that slipped and to the point where it was giving me anxiety that I thought I was just gonna face plant on the thing. And I was so angry to the point where I that if I would have gone to a gym representative, I probably would have said something that they that particular person did not deserve, and I was like, I'm just gonna blow off steam elsewhere, and I think I just yeah, it was probably I think it was cold as opposed to like raining or something like that. So I was like, I'm just gonna you know go home and I'm just gonna walk in instead of run. And because I don't know all the mechanisms that go into maintenance and tremble, but I know like for like my walking pad that we have here in our house, like you know, every couple of months you just gotta you know that little bottle of oil and you just you know get it underneath the you know the track just to you know help loosen things up. But I mean, like if you don't maintenance those things properly, that could cause a very serious injury while you're on that. And the and I was like, this can't be coincidence that I went on three consecutive ones that were doing the exact same thing. Like it's to the point now where like I have made mental notes to myself of okay, I know this particular treadmill in this row has never given me issues before, and I always pray that that one is available when I walk into the gym.

SPEAKER_10:

That's funny, Greg. The uh the treadmill I have here for a number of reasons. I wasn't on it for like eight weeks, and when I finally did get back on it, it was making all sorts of squeaky noises. So I had to lube it myself. And it did slip a little bit. And it'll get your attention. Now it's you know it's all the lubrication is all evened out, and I'm fine again now. But yeah, it will. It's uh it's anxiety producing when all of a sudden that your foot slips there and you're not sure where you're gonna go.

SPEAKER_02:

I I get like OCD at the gym sometimes. Like like I hate when people put the weights back in the wrong order.

SPEAKER_07:

Oh, me too. I end up just I put them where they're supposed to go, and that's like part of my workout. That would be, yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, like like when somebody like like okay, you got five, ten, twenty-five, fifteen. I'm like, I gotta rearrange the whole rack. It just bothers me. Or they put the wrong you know, plates on the wrong numbers.

SPEAKER_08:

I'm like, it's just it's I'm with you on that one. I'm definitely I'm re-racking rates weights every single day. I gotta like add in 10 minutes of my workout just so I can remember.

SPEAKER_02:

That's my that's that's one of my biggest pet peeves. And the other one is the the the phone workouters that do a set, sit on sit on the bench, oh yeah. Work out, like take take care of business, send three emails and then then go back and do their set again.

SPEAKER_08:

I'm guilty of that.

SPEAKER_02:

Oh, I I I I didn't want to call you out.

SPEAKER_08:

It was me at your gym, sorry. Um I so similar thing, like along the same route, is just uh when I sit on a bench or like go to sit on a bench and there's sweat on it and it grosses. Yeah. People who don't wipe up. Yeah. We have um we have we also have a track that's um indoors, and the other thing that kind of bothers me, you guys might not know this unless you have like an indoor track that you run on. But there's a lot of people who um are walking in the wrong direction or like walking on their phones, and and I know we're we're all just trying to get through this whatever walker run that we're doing, and we want to distract ourselves as much as possible. But sometimes I'm doing like a crisp twigs workout where I'm sprinting and then I look up and I'm like, oh god, and I almost like take out somebody. So pay attention. I'm coming.

SPEAKER_10:

Yeah. We can run right through them, Allie. They'd have it coming. Boom.

SPEAKER_08:

I did play roller derby, so I guess I'm right.

SPEAKER_13:

Yeah, I was saying out of all of us, if there's one person I do not want to mess with, it's Allie.

unknown:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_19:

My pet pave is how do I put this? So I it really bothers me sometimes when you see the like all these weights all over the gym. Like at my apartment complex, like no one ever puts anything back. So they might uh some of the weights might be upstairs in the yoga room and stretch room, or they'll just be on the other side of the gym. And you're just kind of like, wait, I swear, I know we have these weights. I don't know where anybody put them. And is and then you got like these like what's those like stretchy things that you could resistance bands, resistance bands just place in all different places. That really bothers me. And it's like I so when I used to work out really, really early in the morning, like at 5 30 in the morning before work, I would there's usually these uh few people that are in there, um, and I haven't seen them in a while because I stopped working out at 5 30. But they would this is the other where the other pep pew comes in. They have their coach on their phone on the loudest volume possible. And then they are just they take everything, lay it all around them, and then when they leave, they don't put anything back. So when they leave, I go and put it back for them because I just want to be courteous for the next people that come in. You know what I mean?

SPEAKER_06:

Also, because they'll see you leaving the gym and they'll be like, that lady like left all the gym all the way.

SPEAKER_19:

Guilty by, I guess, association. I don't know. Right, yeah. Yeah. But like, yeah, I just wish people put stuff back so it's easier for people to find it.

SPEAKER_11:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_08:

That happened to me yesterday at the gym. This is that we like if you've ever used a squat rack, there's two sides to the squat rack, and they both have a little handle that you can adjust and you can, you know, put it up by your shoulders or put it down for like a dead weight or whatever, a deadlift. So um I was missing the one piece. So I had one of them and the other one was missing, and I was like, how do you lose that part? Yeah, like that should always be attached, but yeah, or like bands or you know, any sort of equipment where you're like, that was here yesterday. Now where is it? Where's this, where's my roller or whatever? Like you just are missing it.

SPEAKER_19:

And with like the phone like on high volume, so the entire gym can hear it. Like, my thing is if you if you're working with a coach or you have music or whatever, I get when you're by yourself, obviously. I don't it's it's whatever, but like when there's other people around, at least put like a headphone in so that you can hear them and it's like not so blaringly loud.

SPEAKER_10:

Right.

SPEAKER_19:

That's my oh my gosh, that just makes me sound bad, but it's just like yeah.

SPEAKER_08:

It's okay. These are imaginary people we're we're talking about. None of us would ever do anything. So that's right.

SPEAKER_02:

No riser runner would do that. I hope no nobody at our gyms listen to this podcast.

SPEAKER_08:

Well, not anymore.

SPEAKER_10:

Well, anyway, since we're not quite sure what Alicia would do this week, that's what Jack has to say.

SPEAKER_12:

Dagnabish caution runners, change of topic ahead.

SPEAKER_10:

Hey, friends, couple of announcements. Let's catch up on a couple of things. If you want to participate in the Marathon Weekend 5K as an alien, it's time to get those orders into Kawaiian Pizza Apparel. Alex got that shirt there for us. And I kept reminding folks last year that the shirt is uh she sells it at a discounted price, so there's no discount. She gives us help me out, friends. She gives us a happy running discount, I think. Or rise and run. I can't remember. I think hers is happy running. If happy running doesn't work, try rise and run. I I think it's rise and run because I think happy running is fluffy fizzies. Fluffy fizzies, yeah. You're right. I'm gonna get to that in a minute. So rise and run is the discount with Alec on Kawaiian Pizza Apparel. You won't get it on the shirt, but if you order another shirt from Alec, the Rise and Run code will work and it will put you over$50 total, and you'll get free shipping. So that's a good deal there. But she's coming up on uh order cutoff, I think it's the end of this month.

SPEAKER_02:

I looking on their website, race order deadlines for this season, marathon weekend's December 17th, but I wouldn't wait that okay.

SPEAKER_10:

Yeah, I wouldn't either. I'll tell you one that is coming up, and that's we were just talking Fluffy Fizsies. Fluffyfizzies.com. Michelle will be at the booth this marathon weekend, and her pre-order cutoff is Thanksgiving. Now you can still buy stuff at the booth, but if you want to pre-order and use the happy running code, plus she's got a 25% discount also. She told us she'd double them up, but I haven't been in contact with her. Our friend Adam said doubling up didn't work on the discounts, but if nothing else, you got a 25% discount. Happy Running should work for the other 10%. We'll see. But pre-order cutoff fluffyfizzies.com is Thanksgiving. It's not too late to get your name on the Christmas card exchange list. Our friend Card Exchange Jenny. Her post is pinned to the top of our Facebook group. If you want to join that list, I haven't checked recently. It was growing pretty good. It looks like a lot of fun, a lot of cards to be exchanged, but she's got to cut that off here very soon, just before Thanksgiving, probably this week. This will probably be the last week to join because she wants to get the list out by Thanksgiving so we can start sending our cards, especially those of us who agreed to send cards overseas. Friends, we are now, as of just before the time we went to recording this, 2,500 downloads away from half a million, from 500,000 downloads. So between this episode and the Thanksgiving episode, we should hit that half a million mark. You know what's unfortunate? We'll know when we hit it, but we won't know who it was that put us over the top. That would have been kind of cool. We could have a little contest for who's the 500,000th download. But there's just no way to know. We we wouldn't even be able to tell. See, we we know numbers, but we don't know who's downloading. We know where and all that. But anyway, we're getting close to half a million. So if you know somebody who hasn't been listening, yeah, give them a little nudge. Say, hey, why did download this one, help the gang out, and uh put us up over half a million.

SPEAKER_06:

Bob, you should just you should just tell them it was it was you. So just if you just say, congratulations, you're the one who put us over. Thanks for listening. They won't know.

SPEAKER_10:

That's true. That's true. If I just if I add happy running at the end, it'll all sound good. But yeah, but in all seriousness, thank you for getting us close to that number, and you're gonna push us over the top pretty soon. Now, Zoom Thursdays are about to get messed up because this this Thursday is not a Zoom Thursday. The release of this episode, 217, is not a Zoom Thursday week. 218 would be, but that's Thanksgiving evening. And as much as I love you and as much as I consider you family, I think your immediate family would be a little upset if you ran to your laptop. Done with dinner, okay, it's zoom time. I don't think that would fly.

SPEAKER_13:

But Bob, that's the perfect thing. Like, what what if you're in one of those situations where like you got the crazy uncle that sits at the table who is like the conspiracy theorist or whatever, and you just you you need the out from the table. The the the rise and run zoom would be the perfect thing for that, right?

SPEAKER_10:

Wouldn't it? Yeah. I don't think it would go over well in this household if I told Rebecca, hey sweetie, you gotta clean up the table with one arm because I'm gonna go. Oh, I'll be cooking Thanksgiving dinner this year, by the way. Which is not a first for me. I've done it before. I'm sure I'll have expert guidance and direction.

SPEAKER_13:

Just hovering the entire time.

SPEAKER_10:

It'll be good. It'll be fun, it'll be fine.

SPEAKER_13:

If not, Bob, just look up the number to your local Boston market on speed dial.

SPEAKER_10:

Boston market's gone, I think.

SPEAKER_02:

Are they still around?

SPEAKER_10:

I I don't know. I don't know.

SPEAKER_02:

They've all closed down, I think.

SPEAKER_10:

There is there is an existing building not far from me. There's a Boston market building, but it's not open. Remember, Kenny Rogers had the same idea. Sure I do. Sure I do. So does Kramer. Yeah.

SPEAKER_07:

Kramer. Kenny Rogers. Kenny Rogers roasters.

SPEAKER_10:

Yeah. They were pretty good. I'm not sure what happened. I don't know. Who knows? Who knows? But he had been gone for a while. All right. So I we'll figure out the Zoom schedule, but as of now, I would say two weeks from now will be our next Zoom.

SPEAKER_02:

My wife's the house down with Kenny Rogers chicken. What? Episode 218 for that. That's easy. Easy story. She comes before my wife used to have this nice little cover for the toaster oven that so it looked pretty on the counter. So she comes home, puts the Kenny Rogers bag on the counter next to the toaster oven, accidentally presses down on the lever, and now the little funny thing is going on fire.

SPEAKER_10:

Oh no. Golly.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, so that was Kenny Rogers who's trying to burn the house down. All right. Well, that's good. And we have no more uh covers on the toaster oven.

SPEAKER_08:

Highway to the danger zone. Wait, was that Kenny Rogers?

SPEAKER_02:

Oh, I don't think so. Kenny Loggins. Kenny Loggins, right? Close enough. Gamblers, Kenny Rogers.

SPEAKER_08:

Kenny Loggins, the roasters.

SPEAKER_02:

All right.

SPEAKER_10:

And now. Please stand clear of the door. It's time for a race report. A more mantengancy alejado de la squadra. Race report sponsored by Thomas Stokes, Stoked Metabolic Training. Stokes dot fit slash rise and run coaching is the website. Information on what Tom's got available to you is pinned to the top of the Facebook group page. On the race report, I want to say thank you to our friends who are putting, and I see more and more of you doing this, putting the race name, location, and date of the race up front helps me a great deal. I appreciate it. You get your race report in by Monday, you're golden. If you do it on Tuesday, it's kind of iffy, but uh I'll uh do the best I can. Thanksgiving's coming up. Thanksgiving weekend is the biggest race weekend in the United States. It would be very helpful if you could add your race to the race report file that we keep pinned in the Facebook group. It's another one of those things that's pinned to the featured section. If you could add your race there, that would help me out a great deal. If you can find where it is. If you don't want to put it into the file yourself, just make a comment and I'll put it in, or our friend Rob helps out a lot with that too. Might as well mention right now that when Thanksgiving rolls around and we do the race report, it's gonna have to go pretty quickly. We'll highlight PRs. But for most of it, it's just going to be there's just so many. I think all we're going to be able to do is mention the race and who ran it. Alrighty. Let's start on Saturday. Troy was in St. Petersburg, Florida for Garrett's hero run for muscular dystrophy. This was actually a virtual event, but a bunch of folks got together in St. Pete to run this one live, and Troy was amongst them. When Troy's at, who holler hypes Troy? Who holler hypes Troy in Debbie? That's a good question.

SPEAKER_13:

I don't know. I mean, I try to whenever I'm on the app, but yeah, I'm I'm hoping though that a friendly rando is the one that is messed up. I mean, obviously Debbie's gonna is gonna hype Troy. Yeah. But actually, you know who who has just gone onto the uh the holler hype train is um our buddy AJ over at uh One More Hunt Podcast. Okay. Um we just collaborated together on an Instagram reel that they were talking about uh holler hype um on their episode this past week, and he is locked in. So I think he's got the potential to be the next uh friendly all friendly rando all-star.

SPEAKER_10:

Yeah. All right. Oh, very cool. Hey, there was a marathon in Richmond, Virginia, and we had a bunch of folks there. David did it. David says it's his favorite non-run Disney race. City of Richmond really comes out to support the runners. Weather was really good for this one. Scenery varies from park-like streets by the river to interesting city views of historic buildings. He missed out on a PR, but he's proud of showing up and sticking with it for this marathon. Ellie ran this one with her friend Robin. They both agreed it was tough. The hills in the middle of the race were no joke. Ellie had a hamstring issue going on, and after getting through the hills, she had to walk the last 10 miles. Really happy that Robin was there with her to help. Uh, they were actually dead last for about four miles, which is fine, partly because several people behind them had dropped out. In the last couple miles, they managed to catch up with some others, able to finish with an official time, and just really just about 15 minutes over their target on what was a catered training run. Divi was there, did the half, highly recommends the race, energy, the crowd support. They carried her through. Richmond always shows up very well. I used to live not far from Richmond when I was stationed uh at a base in the Army. It's a great area. I really like it very much. Uh, the best thing that Divi saw was a lady in a garbage truck who was helping block off the route. She was honking her horn, cheering, leaning out the window, high-fiving passing runners, just having a good old time. Divi says she also tried some pickle juice for the first time. Sure, but have you tried a pickle milkshake, Divi? That's the question. Kristen was there, also ran the half marathon. Let's go to Michigan. The Lake Orion run, Michigan cheap 10K. Bethany. Bethany got a PR and a proof of time. Just a little over an hour, five minutes for this 10K. Never thought she'd PR at age 40. You may remember a couple weeks ago, Bethany just missed a PR. She's the one where the finish line, there were two finish lines at her race, and it was very vague as to which was which. And she ended up missing things by just a few seconds. Anyway, this uh run Michigan Cheap is a nice race series throughout Michigan. 10K is 30 bucks, and even though it's 30 bucks, they still give you a shirt and a medal. Lori was in Canton, Ohio for the Franksgiving Day 5K. Fun idea of a hot dog themed race. A lot of people running in wiener costumes or mustard or ketchup costumes. Lori was on Team Ketchup. She decided to push the pace, see what she could do, broke 36 minutes for the first time on her brand new knee. Out in Tucson, Arizona, Garmin has started sponsoring some races. The Garmin Tucson Half Marathon. Julie, Rich, and Emmy were there. Julie submitted the report, says their son Rich lives in Tucson, so they visited him. Julie and Emmy did the half while Rich did the 10K. Expo was uh simple but nice. Tucson isn't flat, but the course gave him some excellent Hill training. The highlight had to be a spectator who had homemade salted chocolate chip cookies. MMM. That's what the little cartoon character says when something's good. MMMMM.

SPEAKER_13:

Now, now I I'm not saying this about the three of them, but do you think when you cross the finish line of a race sponsored by Garmin, do you think it tells you that your race was unproductive?

SPEAKER_10:

That's a good question. That's a good question. Next time we see Julia or Emmy, we'll have to ask him. Let's see. Oh, they finished up and then headed to Scottsdale. They were in Tucson for this. They headed to Scottsdale on Sunday. We'll hear about that in just a little bit. Jessica and Debbie were up the road in Gainesville, Florida for the Buy a Pumpkin Feed a Child 5K. This was another dopey catered training run. They added miles by running from Jessica's house to the race location and back. Flat course up there in Gainesville. Ran through a really lovely neighborhood. A lot of the houses nicely decorated for fall. Fun 5K for a great cause. Let's go to Charlotte, North Carolina. The Charlotte Marathon. Chrissy, Christy, not Christy, Christy, says she didn't hit her target goal, but she did get a PR. Course was Hilly. She kept a steady pace, so it was a win in her book. Heck yeah! Any finish of a marathon is a win, especially one that gets you a PR. Now Kristin was also there. Kristen ran the half marathon. In Perry, Georgia, Beth ran the Georgia Farm Bureau PBJ 5K. There you go, Jack. They have a 5K for PBJ. That's right up your alley. It was fun. Said it was fun. Ran through the Georgia National Fairgrounds. They got to run through the tractors that are on display at the antique tractor show. While Beth ran, her husband and son were checking out the tractors, then they all enjoyed here you go, Jack, fried peanut butter sandwiches that she got for finishing the race. You ever have a fried peanut butter sandwich?

SPEAKER_19:

No.

SPEAKER_10:

Is that an Elvis thing? Peanut butter and banana. Yeah, that's just a taste sensation, my dear. Perry George is part of the peanut belt, like Southeast Alabama. So there's uh peanuts everywhere. And by golly, they really are good. Let's see. Beth Beth doesn't really know what her PR is for a 5k, but this was probably close. She's coming up on a new decade next month, so she'll start over with decade PRs and keep track of it from there.

SPEAKER_13:

I I was gonna ask that since I have now entered a new decade and allowed to wipe all my PRs clean. Okay.

SPEAKER_10:

Oh yeah, no question. No question. I mean, you're gonna get to a point, Greg, where that's the only way you're gonna set a PR. That's true. I mean, I'm I'm there. I'm there. I don't even know what I've given up on that idea. But so now you're in a new age bracket, Greg.

SPEAKER_13:

I am in the new age bracket, yeah. And and apparently is over the hill still a thing. I I I I haven't I haven't heard the phrase in the wild.

SPEAKER_10:

I haven't heard it for a while. Okay. I'm sorry. I'm so far over it though I wouldn't hear it anyway. But I can't hear, you know. Anyway. Huh? That's right. I got I got my headsets on, so I'm okay. Hey, let that let's head out to Utah, St. George, specifically for the snow canyon half marathon. Melody did this one. Melody sent us this on Buzz Sprout fan mail. I gotta tell you, Melanie, sometimes it's hard for us to find that, but I'm glad I did because I've noticed you've sent a couple in that way and we've missed them, but I got this one. I'm glad we did. Melody says this is a beautiful, mostly downhill run out in Snow Canyon. Uh perfect weather, and all that added up to a PR. So I'm glad we were able to report on that one. Let's go to Panama City, Florida, up on the pandhandle for the copper collar 5K. And no, I'm not going to try to say that three times real quickly. Lenora was there. Beautiful day for a run. Rather was nice in lots of Florida this weekend. Pleased with her finish time, but she's working on improving it as Princess Half Weekend is kind of just around the corner now. So we'll see Lenora in February. Savannah hosted the Savannah Southern Half Marathon, and we had a bunch of friends there. Chelsea and her friend Anna were there. Amanda, Amanda saw Elvis running, and she snagged a finish line photo with them. I'm not sure what Elvis was doing in Savannah, but Amanda's got photographic evidence. The icing on this charming weekend was a new half marathon PR. Melissa was at this event, said the course was flat as she expected it to be. See, and Melissa looked up the elevation, Jack. And it was beautiful, but she was a little disappointed by the race support. Still, uh, she lived in downtown Savannah for 10 years and been working there for 17 years, so the course was really fun for her. Maybe the roughest half marathon she's done. But she PR'd it, so there you go. It sure is. Jimmy was there, great day for running, but running on bricks. I guess there were some cobblestone streets there. Instead of concrete's a pain. The last mile, they ran the complete outside of the Savannah Bananas baseball field. And Michelle was there. Michelle ran the 5K at this event, and she PR'd it and came in second place for her age group. Good for you, Michelle. In Orange City, Florida, Evelyn and Lillian ran the Save the Manatee 5K. Out in Hawaii, Kona, specifically on the Big Island. The Kona Coffee Half Marathon in 5K Terra ran. Not a PR, but still fun. Happy that there was a race on her vacation week. Very nice. It was Runfest in St. Petersburg, Florida. The 5 and 10K occurred on Saturday. This is the first St. Pete Run Fest I've missed in a while, and a couple of my friends commented on it. What happened is when we were registering for this event, about the time we would be registering, I wasn't sure I was going to be running anymore. And that got fixed. And by the time that got fixed, Becky had her surgery. I need to help her out. So I missed it. And I missed a good one. It's always been a fun one. But let's start on Saturday. Duncan was there running with her daughter, Emiline, which I mispronounced Emiline's name last time we did it. It was Emiline's first 10K. We know what that means. This was the most Run Disney-like local race that Duncan's been to. They even had a sparkle station for glitter. Now, on a on a somewhat sad note, she was recently diagnosed with colorectal cancer. She's still in the staging process, waiting to find out what her treatment plan will be. But the CT scan was good. So it looks like it hasn't metastasized. At least that's good. And I we you know, here the family, all of us, wish you the best, Duncan. Stick with your medical program. I'm confident you're going to be okay on this one. Easy for me to say, I know. But we're thinking of you, and I, you know, I I think this is gonna work out for you. Sounds like things were discovered early. Uh her next run Disney race is springtime surprised. So she's hoping everything's behind her by then. We hope so too.

SPEAKER_06:

Yeah, but if you need a hug, we meet up at the now.

SPEAKER_10:

Kayla did the uh Tortuga triple challenge. A lot of our friends did. This was kind of fun because in the race report, Tortuga got autocorrected to Portugal. So I'm going, what in the world in St. Peter are we doing the Portugal triple challenge? Anyway, it's the uh 5K, 10k on Saturday and the half on Sunday. Again, we had a couple of friends doing it. Uh Kayla says uh she did lose her toenail. I'm just that file that under if you know, you know. She's been talking about that for a while. Uh she finished both the 5K and 10k. She'll be back on Sunday. Sin was there too, doing all three. The Portugal Challenge. Sin is an ambassador this year. Uh but the half for this race weekend eight years ago was her first half ever. So it holds a special place in her heart. Now on the 10K, the course runs through St. Pete, then to the waterfront and to the St. Pete Pier, which is a lovely tourist attraction. You do about a mile on Cobblestone on the streets. I remember that. She needed to get back quickly to run to 5K with her friends. She did the 5K, walked it with her friends. They had fun. There was beer, pickles, cheese, curds, and water at the end. Judy needed to do a nine-mile training run. So why not do a 10K and then follow that up with a 5K? It was hard to take it easier and not go into race mode, especially when our favorite announcers, Jodie Chase and John Pelke, were there. John gave a great shout-out for the Rise and Run podcast. Thank you, John. Appreciate that. Great post-race swag. I missed a bunch on this one. Again, I've been doing it for years, but apparently they've upped the game this year. They probably knew I wasn't going to be there. So they just let's let's do things neat we haven't done before. I don't remember the glitter station. Or I'd have been all glittery when I finished. All right, let's go to Letonia, Ohio with Greenway 10K, Megan. Megan says it was supposed to be chilly, but it wasn't as cold as she thought it would be. Out and back course along a rail trail, greeted by several trains who blew their horns to cheer him on. She tried not to pay too much attention to her time, just went out and did what felt comfortable. Paces felt good. She came in in an hour 37, which is a four-minute PR. Great race. Still can't believe every mile was under 16 minutes. Every mile was under 16 minutes. This is the first time she's ever done what she's calling a Disney legal race longer than a 5K. Meaning she'd have beat the balloon ladies every mile. Yeah.

SPEAKER_13:

She's been crushing in her training. It's been great to see her progress.

SPEAKER_10:

A lot of our friends are doing great, but we're yeah, that's great. Great. Good job, Megan. Mary did the Dash of the Century 5K in Okoe, Florida, a race that's close to her house. She walked to the start, felt good. They changed the course from the April Chick-fil-A 5K, had a few little hills thrown in, but she stayed so stinking consistent with her mile paces, walked away with her first place age group award, merry way to go.

SPEAKER_08:

Well, you know what they say. They say you gotta know when to walk away with your first age place reward. And you gotta know when to run.

SPEAKER_10:

No when to walk away, no when to run. But back to Kenny Rogers, aren't we?

unknown:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_10:

Oh, is Kenny Lawgins? I don't know. Let's go to Sunday and pick up that St. Pete Run Fest. This time the half marathon. Great weather. Uh just uh it really has been lovely in Florida, just a touch warm in the afternoons, but really nice in the mornings. Laura Ann says it's always an amazing race. A cheer for everyone all the way to the last runner. She didn't train as hard for this one as she did for the Disneyland half. She still ended up with a two-minute PR. Kayla was back to finish her challenge. She started off strong, but once she stopped for a bathroom break and saw the beer mile. I don't remember any beer miles in this race, but they got them now. Uh all that starting off strong kind of went out the window. Now, according to Jody, Kayla was gliding through the finish line. She did finish with a 311, which is a four-minute PR. Here's another one I missed out on. You got an extra medal because Kayla was at that 4th of July event at the pier in St. Petersburg. Remember the one I told you where the water was shin deep most of the rest?

SPEAKER_19:

Oh, I remember that one.

SPEAKER_10:

Oh my goodness. I was at that one. Was that a boat medal? It should have been. That was just incredible. But yeah, you got an extra uh medal for this one. Oh, golly. Next year. Next year they'll change it all back. Uh Sin was there. She uh she's finishing the challenge. Wanted a PR, but hasn't run many miles like she should. She had a sprained ankle from Disneyland. So plan B was to have fun. About mile four, her Garmin went nuts and said her heart rate was over 250. I sure hope that's a problem with your Garmin because that is a crazy high heart rate. So she started walking. Probably smart. Felt right, got her heart rate back to normal on the watch. Again, referring to the beer mile. The last 10 finishers or so get confetti. I could be a last 10 finisher, I'm sure I could. Again, they celebrate every runner there. Uh, Trina and Jeff were there. So many things on the course to distract you. Business giving out samples, beer, tequila, some other shots, cheesecake, peas cobbler, cheese curds, pickle juice, cold brew coffee. How do I miss? What how did I miss this one?

SPEAKER_02:

You if you have all that, how are you running a half?

SPEAKER_10:

Oh no. No. Yeah. Just you're just having fun. Trina and Jeff had a great race. Jeff totally got a PR with all that stuff, still got a PR. And Trina finished about 12 minutes in front of him so she could wait at the finish line and get some good finish line photos. Kevin did this race for the first time and loved it. Uh the shirts that they gave out, plus all the post-race bling are amazing. Definitely doing it again. For Kevin, a PR. Beat his previous half marathon time by about 10 minutes. And came in under two hours. Nice job, Kevin. And rounding it out, Judy was there too. Judy simply says she had a great time. Out on the West Coast, the Run Malibu 5K and half. There's been so much rain in Southern California that this one got canceled. But she ran it virtually, stuck to the treadmill, added a 10K, made it a Run Disney simulation weekend. They really have had a mess of rain out in California.

SPEAKER_02:

Wow. That's good for them, though. They needed some rain out there.

SPEAKER_10:

Well, they did, but they didn't need this much in this short period of time. It caused some problems. But yeah. Let's go to Scottsdale. The every women's, every woman's marathon in Scottsdale. Every said this was kind of a tough one between the hills and the heat. It's also a lot of fun. She finished with an 18-minute PR. Definitely recommend this race if you're looking for a fun, supportive experience full of glitter. There's that glitter again. Lucy was out there, as was Jackie, completing her second marathon and helping a friend to her first. Great run, wonderful vibes, lots of fun. Thanks. See you all soon at Marathon Weekend. We already said Julie and Emmy were going to be there. They're doing the goofy challenge in January, so this was their training simulation weekend. They did the half on Saturday, did a full on Sunday. Nice job. Liz did her second full marathon on this beautiful course. Lots of wonderful on-course entertainment. A couple people commented on this. The favorite was the cowboy on horseback that was singing to them as they ran by. No, it wasn't the naked cowboy from Times Square, John. He's not really naked. Yeah, I know he wears his underwear. Um the Cheer Squad was a highlight. She wants to thank Mark, Tara, Emma, and Steve. And Molly was out there. Molly started getting chills at mile 14, stopped at the med tent, and her body temp was down to 93. Oh gosh. Yeah. So the medics wrapped her in Mylar. She's okay. She finished a half. She didn't finish the marathon, but she did finish a half, and she got her medal. And apparently Molly's okay now, so we're glad to hear that. So that looks like a good event out in Scottsdale. There was a cast member 5K at Disney World. Cast members and friends, a couple of folks were there. Ken was there, happy to participate. Heather was rolling this one. Lots of parking lot time. You got to see Goofy, Mickey, Chip, and Dale in unique outfits. And got to spend time with friends. Her friend's granddaughter, Kinley, did her first 5K out of the stroller. So, Kenley, this PR bell is for you. Christian says, early morning miles around Disney's Animal Kingdom Kingdom. Got to walk with friends, given her so much support and her own running journey. Carla, Shanira, and Claire completed their very first 5K race. Let's head out to Las Vegas for the glittering lights. PJ5K Sarah. Second time she's run since the Disney Halloween half, and thinks this is exactly what she needed to get out of her running funk. Course was fun, lots of water stops, lots of enthusiastic volunteers cheering them on throughout the course. Lots of dogs, some of them in pajamas. It's a PJ 5K, so. Finisher's metal wasn't too exciting, but the milk and cookies more than made up for that at the end. Let's go to the UK and it gets me every time. English words, and sometimes I'm going no I'm going to butcher them, but I think, I think this is the St. Neotz half marathon. I'm sure Emily will be happy to tell me if I'm wrong. She was there. She wasn't expecting the hills to be as steep as they were, but pulled out a PR of 208. Great confidence boost as you go into the winter months and the long mile weeks of dopey training. And a great POT for that dopey event. Wrapping up the race report in Columbus, Ohio. Columbus Hot Chocolate 10K Rebecca says it wasn't really chilly, except when the wind blew, which was most of the time. Cup of the hot chocolate at the end really hit the spot and warmed up her hands. She shaved six minutes plus off of her previous best 10K, Earning a PR. And there we have it, friends. Race report for episode 217 of the Rise and Run podcast. Now next week will probably be light because it's the week before Thanksgiving, and everybody saves their races for Thanksgiving. But we're looking forward to it. Alright, my friends. Hope you enjoyed this one. I know we enjoyed uh playing it. Thank you to our friends from the Will Run for Pack podcast, to our friends from the Stride Sisters podcast, to Tony and of course to cousin Allie for helping make it a great episode. Trading serious friends, and if you run, you know you are our friend. Keep it up, keep moving forward until we meet again.
