Hello, this is Kayla Kaiser from Los Angeles, California. Happy running y'all. I'm doing my summer training out here in rural Nebraska, baby, and you're listening to the Rise and Run podcast. See you out there on the track.

Speaker 4:

That's our friend Kayla. Kayla. Thanks for leaving us the introduction. Kayla from Los Angeles, but training in Nebraska. When we see Kayla at one of the races we'll have to ask her how that worked out. Training in Nebraska you guys know that Nebraska is actually a pretty humid area. I was surprised to learn that. I was looking Down around. Here is the most humid area in the summer, but with all the irrigation for the corn, nebraska and Kansas get really humid. But boy, I got sidetracked. Friends, hello and welcome to Episode 151 of the Rise and Run podcast. We are delighted that you're with us. I'm Bob here this week with Lexi. Hello With John.

Speaker 2:

Hey how you doing.

Speaker 4:

Speaker 4:

Hey hey, hey. And with Alicia, hello, hello my friends. With Greg, hey, hey, hey. And with Alicia, hello, hello. My friends, this week we are going to visit with our friend Amanda from Once Upon a Marathon. She joined in a very spirited group discussion about D23. Discussion about D23. So in-depth and so spirited that we're actually going to roll it into two episodes. So the first half this week, second half next week. In the Race Report Spotlight, our friend Missy climbed Mount Kosciuszko in Australia at 7,310 feet. Well, not exactly, not exactly. But stay tuned for the Race Report Spotlight and you'll find out exactly what she did do.

Speaker 6:

Speaker 2:

I'm like I know this number but I don't know where to place it.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, it's really hard for me to do that, but I don't know where to place it. Yeah, it's really hard for me to do that, but I managed to do it. I don't check that. It's a website gang. When you call and leave a recorded message, it shows up on a website, the Google Voice website. I go in there and check it and I can also message people from there. But I moved the mouse over to the wrong spot and I clicked and I called john. I realized what I had done.

Speaker 2:

I hung up right away yeah, I felt you know neglected friends.

Speaker 4:

The rise and run podcast is sponsored by our friends at Magic Bound Travel. Let's see Halloween season's approaching. I hope by now you got all of your reservations for Disneyland. But you know Universal and Disney World have the Halloween celebrations coming up. You want to make arrangements to travel there? The folks at Magic Bound Travel will be happy to help you with either. Magic Bound Travel is the website. Check them out.

Speaker 3:

As for our YouTube page, Jack just wanted me to pass along a note that she is still working on our latest edition of the Ask Us Anything individual host edition, so I just filmed my clips just the other day, so hopefully we will get that video up in short order. But next on the docket is the lovely, the talented Miss Lexi Me. So I think what? At the end of this week, Lexi, you'll be doing a post and then everyone can submit their questions.

Speaker 4:

Yes, I will. Okay, Sounds like fun. Looking forward to that. Guys, we've talked about it. We've put it on Facebook and on Instagram. The Rise and Run shop is open, john. We have news on that.

Speaker 2:

Yep, the shop is open. We're having a preorder. The preorder is going to august 24th with we're expected ship date of october 1st. Uh, so you'll have the stuff in time for wine and dine. Recent weekend we have race shirts with the with this year with a quote on the back that kind of goes with the the race theme. Uh, we have a cotton pot polyester blend clock shirt with our clock logo on it, which was helped pick colors and design by our Patreons, and also we have our headband that we're looking to have out there also. Plus, we do have other stuff in stock from the old stuff, but so if you want everything to ship together, just tell us and we'll hold everything up there for you. Uh, our visors are in, our race hats are in, so if you want any of those, and our bags, so they're, they're ready to go right now if you want them right now or, like john said, if you want to save a little on shipping and bundle them all at once, let us know and we'll do that.

Speaker 4:

All All right, thanks, john. Hey, let's take a look at the training schedule. Disneyland Halloween race weekend three weeks away Gosh Be soon. That's crazy. I'm so excited for you, Bob. I am so excited I am, I genuinely am Training week number 15, the long run is four miles. Wine and dine weekend, and we were just talking, the Food and Wine Festival starts in a couple of weeks. Now it's delayed this year, but it starts in a couple of weeks. I have to try to get over there.

Speaker 6:

I'm kind of glad that it's opening later. I mean, I feel like the past couple of years it was like earlier and earlier and then it was like the beginning of July and it was in the past couple of years.

Speaker 4:

It's been one after the other, with like a two week break in between. But having said that, I've been over there a couple of times this summer and there's no food booths.

Speaker 3:

And I kind of miss them. I love, I love how people are calling a non-festival Epcot Day Diet Epcot.

Speaker 4:

That's absolutely amazing. I'll tell you what. I have been to, places I haven't been in a while. I've been to the Regal Eagle, which I haven't been to in a while because the booths are all out there. I've been to some of the fast service places, counter service places in Japan, and so, yeah, it is a break, but I'll be happy when it's back. Anyway, we're still on the training schedule Wine and Dine Race 11 weeks away.

Speaker 4:

We are in training week 7. Long run is 3 miles. Marathon weekend Now, 21 weeks away. Away, we are in training week number seven and, in one of the inexplicable vagaries of the jeff galloway training plans, if you are training for the marathon, your long run this weekend is four miles. If you're training for the dopey or goofy challenge, your long run is three miles. I can't explain it, but trust me, the plans work. If you follow the plans, the plans work. As we mentioned before, springtime surprise registration is coming up 12 days from the day of release. So next week is club Disney reservation Week. After that, springtime surprise reservations Gang. What kind of training news do we have to share with our friends?

Speaker 6:

I have a training update. So today I was at the gym and, um, I was just doing my little workout, uh, that Tom gave me, and um, I was getting ready to leave workout that Tom gave me, and I was getting ready to leave and holding all my stuff and this girl walked up to me. She was probably about my age, probably about my size, and she said I just wanted to tell you you are killing it. I didn't want you to think that I was weird from like watching you or if you saw me watching you, but I just had to tell you you are just killing it, cool.

Speaker 3:

I love that, that's awesome.

Speaker 6:

Aw, thank you, it just made my whole day.

Speaker 4:

Oh, yeah, it makes you feel good, it does.

Speaker 5:

So mine is more of not really like a training update but kind of a training reminder. Last week I was really struggling, I had some rough days at work and so I took some extra rest days and rest time. And I just want to remind our friends that rest and recovery is super important, especially if you're going to be training for the marathon and goofy or dopey, to remember to take that time and actually rest and recover, and how important sleep is. Um, so I did that and I'm feeling much better this week. So I'm back on the plan for training. So that's good.

Speaker 4:

I'm glad to hear that I Sundays have taken on a whole new meaning to me, because I'm doing three days of Tom, three or four days of running. And then I get Sunday.

Speaker 2:

I look forward to it. So yeah, my training is. I am officially signed up for Bird and Anne. Yeah, I will be seeing you out there. Yes, the 11th was the deadline for the shirts and I'm not sure when the official deadline is for for registration, but I know the day of you can register that morning that sounds about right yeah but you got to get there, like at 6 30 oh yeah super early right I'm for you, John.

Speaker 3:

I'm excited to have you there.

Speaker 4:

I'm excited to be there. Let me pass along a few things. I have been doing this for a while, my friends, and sometimes it takes me a while to learn, but this last weekend I had a 12 mile run and the heat index was a hundred degrees. I can't escape it. I could do treadmill. I don't want to. So I go out and I do what I talk about as I slow down. I even walk some of the miles and I've paid much more attention to nutrition, hydration and pace and I've paid much more attention to nutrition, hydration and pace.

Speaker 4:

We give a lot of focus to nutrition the day or two before a race. We don't always think about it the day or two before a long training run, but we need to. You need to think about that your nutrition and hydration before your long run. It took me until last season, when I it was a 12 miler, where I really really, really struggled before I finally went and bought a hydration vest where I can carry two bottles Carry one with water and one with some kind of an electrolyte drink.

Speaker 4:

I saw a question online about Jeff's 30 second rule Every five degrees above 60, slow down 30 seconds. But if you do the math, that's four minutes a mile for me at the temperatures I was going. Am I going to slow down that much? No, but I did slow down. I probably slowed down two minutes a mile. I had a conversation with Jeff I joke with him about it. I said oh my gosh, jeff, if I slow down 30 seconds for every five degrees, people who are used to training in the heat, and that's because while we think we're acclimated and to a degree we are we tend to push it too far.

Speaker 4:

Whereas someone from a cooler climate says, nope, I'm going to back off, whereas someone from a cooler climate says, nope, I'm going to back off. Some of us and I've learned not to do this from the hotter climates go no, I'm used to this, I can. So do I do the 30 seconds per five? Not exactly, but I certainly do take my time and I do slow down. Finally, before I leave the training and I'm springing this on my friends here I had a thought. I know that oftentimes when our people are out on a training run and they go you know I need to talk to somebody about this training run they can pop in there. I think we're more likely to see them in that. I know I get notifications on my watch when somebody hits one of those. Uh, somebody hits one of those chat groups, so I'm going to think about that. I'll let you know what I decide.

Speaker 3:

No, I think that's a great idea, Bob, because I know, countless times I've seen whether it's the marathon weekend, you know chat group or the princess one, you know, sometimes you just see random people hey, I'm in the midst of my 17 miler and I'm having trouble, you know again through. You know again through. You know what advice does everybody have? So you know, a dedicated channel just to that, I think would be really helpful, because I, I know we all need it sometimes. You know whether it's, you know, text messages or phone calls, like you know, for me, when you know running loopy looper last weekend, um, you know, our favorite pacer with a cape, Adam, you know, was kind enough to, you know, give me a phone call as I was heading out on you know my next loop and you know he kept my mind motivated for you know the next mile or so. So you know, sometimes just those little thoughts of encouragement really can go a long way.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, I think it would be helpful. I mean, even in our personalized chat between the hosts we've done that to each other, where we're like hey guys, I'm on this run, help me get through it, and I think that it's helped all of us. So I think that would be really motivational.

Speaker 4:

I know there have been times when folks have reached out and I've missed them or I've seen him the next day, or something like that. And on a dedicated chat, like as I said, or something like that, and on a dedicated chat, like as I said, I can set notifications and they'll show up, and Okay, so I'll do that in the next day or so. In fact, by the time this is released, we'll probably have that chat group up and going.

Speaker 3:

I love it when we workshop things live on the air. It's great.

Speaker 4:

I like spring and things on people. It's more spontaneous. We've got a note here about springtime surprise proof of time submission.

Speaker 3:

Yes, yeah, when we were chatting about, um, you know the announcement of the themes last week with kristen devin, uh, you know, we got so entrenched with um. You know just the idea of you know why we like this theme, why we didn't like this theme, uh, but there was one piece of information, um, that we forgot to chat about and that is run. Disney did actually make an adjustment to the proof of time. So if you are running the 10 miler, the proof of time cutoff for this race is one hour and 55 minutes, and it can be a race that ranges anywhere from January 1st 2022 until October 1st 2024. So, again, you got you know. You know just a little less than a two-year window there. So if you have an official race and defined by Disney a 10K, 15k, half marathon or marathon, if it has that equivalent of 155 or less, you can officially submit a proof of time.

Speaker 4:

Good to know. Good to know, good to know. I have no races coming up because it's August in Florida. But next year, next year maybe.

Speaker 2:

I thought you were going to say the proof of time was due for springtime. We didn't even register for that.

Speaker 3:

I wouldn't do anything like that. But actually, the one last thing I do want to mention, since we're kind of bumping up our announcements a little bit earlier in the show. Here is speaking of Kristen and Devin, who we add on last week just want to remind everybody about the pop-up collaboration between RunFitFab and the Rise and Run podcast during marathon weekend, january 10th. So it will be the afternoon of the 10k day, from noon until two o'clock, and you can get your tickets at eventbritecom. We have links to it in the show notes. We have it on our facebook group as well, or you can go over to the dopey strong facebook group and get all the information there. So if you're interested in attending that event, you can buy your tickets there for the awesome event that we're going to be a part of with a live podcast recording during Marathon Weekend.

Speaker 4:

Sounds good. All right, we said we're going to talk D23 and visit with our guest. Let's get started.

Speaker 3:

So this past weekend was a massive weekend in terms of Disney news.

Speaker 3:

It was the 2024 edition of the D23 convention and obviously, you know, lots of news drops in terms of, you know, the Disney Legends, and then also the movie studio, and then also the movie studio, and, heck, they even incorporated Broadway into it.

Speaker 3:

Because, I mean, to me the biggest news that came out on Friday night is that we're getting a Greatest Showman musical at some point, and Color Me is super excited for that one. But the one that we were all waiting for was Saturday night, and that was the Disney Parks and Experiences panel hosted by the one, the only, possibly maybe the next CEO of the Walt Disney Company, Josh DeMauro, and a ton of news came out about parks all across the globe and cruise line. So we thought, as our main feature for this week's episode, we would talk about the news, at least mostly stateside, of what was announced on saturday night. But we also want to give it a little bit of a twist, since we are a running podcast and let's and you know, even though we try not to speculate too much on this podcast we're going to break that rule for at least one episode and we'll speculate a little bit of how this could potentially affect run disney maybe not this year but for future years to come.

Speaker 3:

And when it comes to research and breakdowns and speculating and spiraling, there's only one person that I could think of who would be perfect to add into this conversation, and that is our friend amanda over at once upon a marathon. Amanda, welcome back to rise and run I'm excited to be here.

Speaker 7:

Yeah, welcome back.

Speaker 3:

All right, so we're gonna get right into it here. We're gonna start with disneyland and california adventure because I mean, heck, as we are going to discuss in a little bit here later about the event guide, uh, for the halloween race. Disneyland doesn't like to give a lot of information sometimes, and the same could be said, uh, here, um, when it comes to the announcements, um, the park on the West Coast. But so the first announcement that we're going to focus on and, amanda, I want to get your thoughts on it here is probably the biggest announcement for Disneyland was that Avatar is coming to Disney's California Adventure. Now, as of now, there is no timetable for construction. So to you, how do you think this is going to affect not only Disney California Adventure, but do you think there can be a run Disney impact here as well?

Speaker 7:

Well, I think that the interesting thing about Disneyland is they didn't release locations for any of the announcements, like Avatar Land or any of the other ones, and it's in the midst of this Disneyland Ford proposal, which has gone through the first rounds of regulatory approvals but is not completely out of the woods yet. So I think there's a big question on are these things part of the Disneyland Ford Because they have to commit a minimum spend as part of that effort, or is this replacing existing places inside of the Disneyland footprint, like where maybe parking garages are or some of the reworking that they're already going to do over there? And I think it's all going to come down to that? Is it Disneyland Ford or is it on the existing footprint for the? The race impacts minus place? We do know avengers is going to go in avengers campus.

Speaker 3:

But yeah, that one we know, but the rest of it no, you bring up a really good point, amanda, because, uh, in my recent trip to disneyland just last month, I stayed at the westin, so for me it actually made more sense to enter, enter the park, walking up the other side where you have the main entrances to the Grand Californian and the Pixar Hotel. And I went through security at Downtown Disney so I saw that whole area where the Disneyland 4 plane is going to be. You know, the Disneyland four plane is going to be and it's essentially just cast member parking and it's, you know, parking for downtown Disney and there's really, you know, and it's all boarded up and and you know, there's really not a lot going on. So it'd be interesting to see, if they do create that expansion, how they're going to go ahead and do that, because, you know, will it be a third park, or are they just going to essentially just slice that area in half and make one part an extension of dca and you know the northern half be an extension of disneyland?

Speaker 3:

I will say now, the only rumor that I did here and I think I heard this on, maybe it was the the disney dish podcast with len testa and and Jim Hill is that maybe there's the possibility that this Avatar area will replace Hollywoodland in DCA, which is where the current Monsters Inc ride is. It's a cute little dark ride but I mean really, really, that's the only thing that's going over there. But when you look at the maps for the Halloween races, all three Halloween races do go through Hollywood land. So again, we don't have a timetable, so who knows how immediate the impact could be. But if that's the case, you know, maybe we could see some impact there.

Speaker 8:

So really quick thought on that, because I actually do agree with you, greg, that the avatar area would be probably replacing the Hollywood area, because it's unfortunately a lot of empty space. They don't use the theater anymore, it's just they don't even really use the stage that much. They have Monsters Incorporated, which we love, but if they're going to replace it, they're going to replace it with something big, and if you look at our videos for Passport to run for the Disneyland half marathon, you can actually see backstage how much space they actually have to expand out. So it makes me believe that's probably going to be the best place for Avatar to go, because if you look at where they're considering Coco, they said, oh, coco is going to be an attraction. Well, I could see them replacing Coco with what is currently Goofy Sky School, because it's near where the Coco quick service is over in.

Speaker 8:

Disneyland and Goofy Sky School is known to go down constantly Like people will get the what's it? Max Pass or whatever over there and some people will purposefully get Fast Passes or whatever you want to call it over there at that attraction because they know they'll get another Fast Pass reissued to them to go anywhere they want and they could just do it on repeat. So I know that that attraction has been a problem child for a while and it's probably one of the first things to go one of the first things to go. So if I could put any kind of standpoint and things like that because even david and I were talking about it because he used to work, um, at what's called the dock for disney, so he'd work for disneyland and disney world and he would get so many calls from disneyland all the time and one of them was almost always goofy sky school.

Speaker 3:

So all right, jack, I have a question for you because unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to ride goofy sky school when we were there, even though my daughter kept bugging me about it. Is that the exact same thing? That, um, what, what, what was taken down in dino land? The uh, like, like the wild mouse coaster is?

Speaker 8:

the exact same thing. Yeah, you just don't spin like you did on the one for dino land. I'm pretty sure it's just like a vehicle.

Speaker 5:

That was like a mouse game, I guess you could say, yeah, they both have like that same like mouse coaster thing that you would see at the local fairs type of type of feel all right.

Speaker 3:

So if they were willing to get rid of it in dino land, then then maybe they're willing to to uh implode it for uh for dca and also one of the things that you know that I've seen a lot of stuff just on social media about um.

Speaker 6:

You know the the reels about, but where's it gonna go? Where's it gonna go, um? And I think one of the like, while you may not can expand out very much, you can always go up and make it like a, you know, a layered, I don't know a couple story building or something like that. I mean they put guardians there.

Speaker 5:

So my only thought process is, if they put that avatar in where hollywood land is, that's like one of the first things that you see. So aren't you gonna see it immediately, like when you're walking in? Because if you look at the imaging that they had showed, it looked at like it was going to be pretty tall, so that's a good point away from like the atmosphere of like that original walk-in to california venture too, in terms of a race standpoint, though.

Speaker 8:

even if avatar went over to the hollywood land, if you look at where the pathway is crossed, we can easily still just go from backstage to going past Guardians ride and past the, where the ship in the building is, where to the left would be the newer rides being made and everything. We just won't get to it. Just part of the course is cut off, and unfortunately it's going to equate to us right now, on the outside of Disneyland, a little bit longer. All right?

Speaker 3:

Well, the next thing that got announced for Disney's California Adventure and I'm sure there's not much of an impact here, but, amanda, I'll just ask it anyway Probably one of the only announcements where I got jealous of Disneyland instead of Disney World is that they're going to get the Coco dark ride and we're not. You know, they said they're not breaking ground on it until 2026. We have no idea where it's going, but do you have any thoughts in terms of Coco?

Speaker 7:

I don't, so I've actually never been to Disneyland. Oh OK.

Speaker 7:

I've not made the pilgrimage to the homeland yet. All this world's my home park. So my knowledge of Disneyland is like maps in my head, you know, like studying the course maps and things like that. I don't have that real world connective experience yet. My first thought was, like Coco makes sense just from a Southern California, mexican, american. Mexico is a border state, like there's probably a lot of cultural connections there. So I was like that's a good spot, to put it. Everybody blew up my Instagram being like is this replacing the Three Caballeros ride? I'm like wrong coast Not going to replace the Three Caballeros. I am jealous of the ride. Is that the one that kind of looks like shanghai's pirates?

Speaker 8:

like yes, it was rumored to be almost exactly the same ride tech, which may well, no, no they were talking about that for the avatar ride, not for coco.

Speaker 3:

I think coco is just like a standard.

Speaker 7:

It's just a standard boat ride I've heard both and I'm not familiar enough with the shanghai pirates ride outside of like a couple pictures, so I I'm like I'm not even sure how to compare them, but either way, I am jealous. I think it's going to be a lot of fun. I have no idea where they'll put it.

Speaker 8:

Do you guys find it funny that during the first half of the D23, when they were announcing everything, it was like boat ride, boat ride, boat ride, boat ride another boat ride.

Speaker 5:

That's my biggest hot take and you and I talked about that. Talk that like every single thing is a boat ride.

Speaker 6:

I was like okay speaking of disneyland, just in relation to rent disney, you know, I'm very curious about the whole construction thing because we just got the races back, you know, and while I don't think I think they're popular enough that run, disney is not going to take them away so soon after them coming back. At the same time, when you look at construction, like where, where are we gonna go?

Speaker 8:

yeah, but but like I said, though, even if they did close off the hollywood area for avatar, they still have a straightaway, and I know like there could be construction beyond what we see with hollywood, like where we were backstage anyways which I know you saw, lexi and Alicia, I know you ran through as well there's plenty of space all the way back there. I don't think they're going to cut off a road you know what I mean which would have been the one we were run on to be able to do construction like that. I could see them building walls. I could see seeing a lot of different things backstage.

Speaker 8:

The one that I think I'd be most curious about is, like God, I hope they wouldn't take away Disneyland. And here's the other thing Disneyland is so brand new and people have been on about it for so long for it coming back. I feel like it would be not great for Disney to take it back again. But also, we need to stop complaining about Disneyland's half. We need to stop complaining about Disneyland's half. So Disney doesn't take it away, because their 5K and 10Ks are the most fun 5K and 10K I've ever experienced.

Speaker 6:

I loved the 5K course. It was crazy crowded but just the course was amazing.

Speaker 7:

Yeah, I'm only interested in doing the half at Disneyland for the coast to coast because I'm all in on the five and ten, like you. Just look at the course map starting on Main Street or the 10K which does both parks. I'm like that's it, that's the best of everything. But I will do extra miles for the coast to coast at least once. I don't think they're going to take away races, not after all of the work that they've put in to bring them to the table. My concern is more. You know, we kind of got a teaser about Red Disney from Deadpool, I know did anybody else's heart stop when that slide went up?

Speaker 9:

I was like oh my gosh it's happening.

Speaker 7:

I was like watching it on the live stream and I'm like, oh God, and he's making a joke about doing a Wolverine Deadpool run. But he also mentioned princess and villains and I think it's just more teasing the idea of more races, and I think if they were going to bring more race weekends, it would be to Disneyland, not to Walt. Disney World yeah absolutely Right, and I wonder if the construction will put a pause on the expansion of races, so they keep it at two.

Speaker 6:

Until they finish the construction and then open up more and then revisit that idea later and that's why it wasn't any sort of announcement.

Speaker 7:

It was more of a teaser gauge type of thing and it would be foreshadowing.

Speaker 8:

I do see Disneyland Paris potentially coming back. They've hinted at it in the past quite a bit, but it won't happen until the what's now called the adventure disney's adventure park is finished, because then you can run around the lagoon and you get to add more miles inside the parks I don't see it coming back anytime soon, until lion king is finished well, here I thought, what would be a two-minute conversation turned into quite an expansive one, so so this bodes well.

Speaker 6:

You might get a three-hour episode this weekend, folks but we have lots of thoughts and feelings, craig, and we haven't even gone to orlando yet.

Speaker 3:

okay, maybe another quick one here, but but I'll bite my tongue. Uh, we got the announcement opening date for tiana's Bayou Adventure in Disneyland. It's going to open on November 15th of this year. So really the only, I guess, run Disney topic that I want to bring up here is the fact that Tiana's will be opening, critter Country will be reopening and I'll defer more here to Alicia, lexi and jackson's you're the ones that have run on the west coast is do you think this could open up more park time in disneyland or do you think that they'll stick with what they have been ever since the construction's been going on?

Speaker 8:

I, because they have to put in the courses, don't? They have to certify the courses way in advance. Yeah.

Speaker 2:

The event guide's out, so they're already there.

Speaker 6:

No for January.

Speaker 2:

Well, it's okay.

Speaker 7:

Can't they reuse, though If they have a course that's been certified from before the construction, they might be able to reuse the path. I don't know. Yeah, that's true. No, you could, you could, yes, so.

Speaker 4:

I don't know that. Yeah, that's true. No, you could.

Speaker 7:

You could. Yes, so like if the January, because wasn't the last January or the first January race. Pre-tiana's closing yes, no.

Speaker 2:

No, that was closed already, I think.

Speaker 7:

Yeah, yeah, it was closed already. Yeah, it would depend on the course, like the comparison of the two courses. They might happen to anyone.

Speaker 3:

Okay, so that conversation actually was two minutes, so perfect, all right, all right. And then, uh, the last big announcement, and, and jack and uh, you alluded to this earlier. Um, we're gonna let's briefly talk about the expansion of avengers campus. Essentially, it's going to double in size. Everyone already knew about the e-ticket attraction that they have been teasing for what I feel like is half a decade now.

Speaker 3:

So we will officially be getting Avengers Infinity Defense. But the rabbit that they pulled out of their hat there was the new ride Stark Flight Lab. According to Disney, construction starts quote unquote next year, so who knows when that will be. But really the only run Disney impact that I see here is the fact that when you look at the backstage areas, then again this Avengers Campus essentially goes through the area of where these two attractions will be going, next to the Quinjet building. But, amanda, do you have any thoughts here on the expansion of Avengers Campus?

Speaker 7:

So I am 100% confident that the construction is going to impact Halloween next year, because that is the one I do. That the year I do it, I will not get to run through Avengers Campus due to construction, so that is my bet.

Speaker 6:

So can I just throw this hot take out there? I mean, I am, don't get me wrong. I am so excited for the expansion announcements for Avengers because I love Avengers. But did anybody else look at the concept art for Stark's flight lab and be like, hmm, they took the Harry Potter castle ride and made it Avengers themed?

Speaker 8:

No, this is how I I took it. I took it as huh. Wasn't that the ride in the um, the game arcade place that they had at disney?

Speaker 2:

disney quest springs.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, disney quest no, I think that, oh, oh I know, are you? I know what you're I know what you're talking about, jackie where you could like build your own roller coaster or something like that.

Speaker 8:

Yeah, at epcot they used to have something exactly like oh, the sum of all thrills yeah, that's what yep in uh in interventions yeah yes, is it me.

Speaker 7:

When I look at the art, it looks like it's not enclosed in a building, it's like there's a shelter yeah, I think, I think it's outdoor, yeah, open air if they turned it on and had the lights going in the morning as you run through the campus. So you have like you know, these vibes going.

Speaker 7:

I think it would be cool. I also hope that in expanding the campus it also creates more nooks for characters to be on course, that people could get outside of the course, take pictures and have those photos inside of the Avengers campus. So not so much like spending longer in the park, which is always great, but more so having space to add characters, add, you know, points of interest for photography and things like that along the course.

Speaker 6:

I will say from having done the race. While I definitely am one of the complainers about there were not enough characters in the parks, if you look at it logistically, the walkways are pretty small in Avengers Campus. As far as adding a character line other than where that stage is, I feel like there's not really any other place you can put a character line during a run.

Speaker 7:

Disney race but if they expand the canvas and they can figure yeah you know, maybe, maybe that'll provide some more options.

Speaker 6:

That's what I'm hoping for if they had a run disney race, that iron man was outside.

Speaker 3:

I may cry I thought you're gonna go with captain america there, uh well, see, okay, so they're. You were the one that said you wanted to run behind chris evans I'll take him in all forms zombie, regular, you know like see cap.

Speaker 6:

So captain america, civil war is my least favorite avengers movie. Because what? Yes, because iron man and captain america are my absolute favorite characters and they were mad at each other. People get mad at each other all the time. I just didn't enjoy it because I didn't know which side to be on, because I love both of them.

Speaker 3:

Well, the thing is now out. Of all of us, Bob is the only one going out for Halloween. So, bob, we're going to need you to do some reconnaissance work for us in a couple of weeks' time here, so please come back with a full report for us.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, I will do my best. I'm really looking forward to it. I'm excited about it. All of these places I'm hearing about and know nothing about, so, yeah, it'll be fun.

Speaker 3:

All right, let's strap in, let's hop a flight from Anaheim cross-country down to Orlando and let's talk about everything that got announced, at least that could be applicable to run disney in walt disney world. We're gonna break this down by park and we'll start with the park that got the least, uh least announcements at d23, and that is. Let's talk about epcot. Real quick, really, the the only two pieces of news that we got is a lounge that, um, which actually I think will be pretty cool, uh, in the old siemens uh event space. That was there. But really the big news is test track.

Speaker 3:

Now, again, very loosely, josh tomorrow said opening sometime in 2025. So again, who knows if that is the summer or december 31st. But the the topic that I wanted to bring up here in and again we, we really won't know, probably until wine and dine in a couple of weeks is, you know if you think about it, run disney loves to send us out because again, we have to start all races and end all races in Epcot. They love sending us through that little pathway between Mission Space and Test Track. Has anybody been there recently enough to know? Are the construction walls all the way over to that side, or is that something that we're still going to be able to access to end the races, especially for Wine and Dine and for Marathon Weekend?

Speaker 7:

The way I have tried to find this answer. Like I am stalking people's YouTube videos, I am stalking Instagram the monorail shots. I'm like I just need you to pan a little to the right, Like you're so close.

Speaker 2:

When they when they did that other renovation of a test track, when they made it this modern yeah. The latest one, yeah. Latest one. They just put the green what do you call planters? In front of the, the walkway and everything was basically inside. So I don't if it's that's the inside attraction, I don't see them having to what do you call it? Wall off that area, unless they're going to work on the track.

Speaker 8:

Wait, that is a point of action for point of I'm sorry of entrance for cast members too, right?

Speaker 7:

Is it that what we take, the cast member entrance underneath the track, like when we run underneath the track.

Speaker 8:

Yeah, because um to, if you're going to the finish line, I believe the cast member um area to get ready and costumes and everything is to the left of that.

Speaker 5:

So and that's that giant building and I can't see it being blocked but even if they're working on like the track, I don't think because it's up in the sky. I don't think they're working on like the track. I don't think because it's up in the sky I don't think they're really on the ground anything yeah, I agree and they're not going to change the track? I don't think.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it's been that way forever if they're doing support work.

Speaker 3:

Maybe there's only a couple parts, but yeah yeah, I don't I think most of it will be inside and they don't need to do anything then now I mean the other way that we do get out of epcot is going through future world or world celebration or whatever calling it these days, and then we exit out by the bubblegum bathroom. So I mean there is another way out. It's just, you know, recently we've been taking, you know, that same loop.

Speaker 3:

You go underneath connections and creations and then you know, looping around guardians and then popping out there. So that was the only reason why I was interested in discussing that.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, you're right, the walls are down now, greg.

Speaker 7:

Interesting because the other exit you're talking about, greg, where you go out by the bubble gum bathrooms that exit by the time that you come out of the park you're in the finish chute. It drops you right there, whereas the other exit, going through connections, coming out from test track, once you get backstage they can do a sweep, oh, and then you run all the way past Guardians I think it's like another half mile. Then you enter the chute. So by having us go out through test track, they're able to do a final hard sweep that they can't get in when we run out by the bathroom.

Speaker 3:

Amanda, it's for comments like that that why we invited you on this podcast. I would have never, ever thought about that.

Speaker 7:

And that hard sweep did not exist before and I think people had a lot of confidence going into Epcot and being like, oh, I'll just hang out with characters or I can be behind the balloon ladies, it doesn't matter anymore and they were probably running into problems with that because they didn't have a great way to enforce it when we were coming out from the bubblegum wall. But now that they can put a hard sweep right after Epcot, I think that kind of gets people back in line in terms of making forward progress towards the finish line, as opposed to hanging out in Epcot longer than drinking too much before you get there.

Speaker 7:

That's a little extra motivation and making it towards that finish line.

Speaker 3:

All right Now, Grant, this was something that didn't get announced and obviously will not have a run Disney impact, but I just wanted to discuss it for like two minutes here. What does Figment need to do to get a redo on his ride, Like what is Imagineering waiting for?

Speaker 6:

Poor little Figment.

Speaker 7:

So one of the things I take hope in is if you are a really big nerd, like I am, and you listen to the quarterly earnings calls and you go through the financial statements that they do. Whenever they first announced the $60 billion investment, they said it was going to be over the course of 10 years and that the bulk of that investment would be the back half. Investment would be the back half. So everything that we got announced in this D23 and presumably the next one is the front half, because this is all happening and going, as Josh said, shovels and dirt now, which means bills are being paid now. So presumably this is the tip of the iceberg and we'll see even more on the back half.

Speaker 3:

Maybe Figment gets his justice, maybe okay all right, I mean I I just figured the fact that inside out 2 is now, you know, the highest grossing disney animated uh, you know movie. It fits so well into imagination. Or I even read an expose on Twitter a few weeks ago about how you take the old Wonders of Life pavilion and you make that Inside Out and Big Hero 6, which is all about health and wellness and mental health. It makes too much sense. But again, amanda, you bring up a really good point about the back half. So I guess Figgy is just going to have to wait a couple of more years.

Speaker 6:

Well, first off, there are multiple buildings at Epcot that are not being used right now. There's, I know, the convention center type area that's like behind Canada. Oh, World Showplace yeah, Canada place yeah yeah, um, and I mean even where they usually put, like um the chocolate world during the festivals, over on um the chocolate world.

Speaker 3:

Uh, like that's at Hershey Park, that's not.

Speaker 6:

I just that's where I go to get the chocolate in the cup okay, you know like, but at the same time they just finished an Epcot expansion.

Speaker 3:

No, absolutely.

Speaker 8:

You know all of that Did it really expand, or did they just put a little ribbon on something that was already there?

Speaker 7:

Eh, that was my other thought. I feel like there's a little hurt feelings over Epcot's expansion, like it took a really long time and everything they dangled in front of us ultimately got clawed back. So I feel like if they had announced anything big for Epcot, it would be a little like too soon salt in the wound.

Speaker 3:

Yeah well, speaking of salt in the wound, like, yeah, we're down like well, speaking of salt in the wounds, let's move to animal I don't want to talk about it.

Speaker 8:

I am literally I'm pouring out a 40 for my homie yeah, I am literally trying to book a weekend trip to go out to disney just to do one day at animal kingdom to say my goodbyes all right.

Speaker 3:

Well, let's dig into the details here a little bit and then we'll get into our discussion here. So, even though we already knew, officially officially announced, dinoland usa is becoming the tropical america's section um of animal. Now they're being ambitious with this one. It is slated to open sometime in 2027. We did get the official announcement that Dinosaur again my deepest apologies to Alicia, john and Jack will be rethemed to Indiana Jones, but the good news is it is not a clone of Disneyland in Tokyo. It's going to be a brand new indie story. We are getting an Encanto attraction and then also a carousel.

Speaker 3:

Now, to me, the interesting news that has come out about all of this and I think this little piece of information should make john, jack and alicia very excited is that they said that the construction will start this fall. So that could be at. You know, based on like what disney defines as fall, could be as early as a couple of weeks from now. According to the parks panel, it said that the work will be done in phases and that they're doing the phasing so that it looks like they're going to work on Encanto and the carousel first, because they want to keep Dinosaur open as long as possible, because I mean that just makes too much sense from a logistical standpoint. You need as much ride capacity in Animal Kingdom as possible. So, amanda, my question to you is to me.

Speaker 3:

In hearing this announcement and hearing that phased approach, my mind immediately went to Marathon Weekend because, you know, right along chester and hester's, you know that part of dino land that's where we exit to get out of animal kingdom. Do we think that they'll have it walled off so that we can still leave out that area, or do you think we need to find a new, new way out of, uh, out of this park?

Speaker 7:

so my suspicion is phase one is going to be the smallest in terms of the land grab. Right, it's going to be more set up for phase two, but I don't know. I know, nobody really really knows. Um, it would be interesting because if they did, if the construction turned out that we couldn't exit out of Dinoland anymore, which we may not even want to if everything's walled off and we can't see anything anyways, they could route us through Pandora, but we would miss Everest, so all of the people who were riding the coaster during the marathon would be gone, but we would finally get Pandora and the old Wine and Dine course, the one that went to the Commonwealth Kingdom did route through Pandora.

Speaker 3:

I never had a chance to do that course, bob, how did you get out of there? I made a video of it.

Speaker 6:

Because you ran along the lighted parkway towards the front of the park.

Speaker 4:

I liked it.

Speaker 5:

It was very nice, but even the marathon used to go and go out the front of the park as well. So I mean that's what it was years ago so it could go back to that um, but it took up way more of the park space in animal kingdom um, and I think that's why they changed it, because it was interfering with a lot of the people that were trying to go to Animal Kingdom just for their everyday parkness and they didn't care about us.

Speaker 2:

And you're closing down a major road too.

Speaker 5:

Yeah. Run out the highway.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, but I was like that area next to Nemo where the bathrooms are, there's got to be some other way out, that back way, so they could kind of throw you out the back there and come out onto that road to bring us back out. But I mean, and you still kind of get it. But, like I said, with that phased approach, you know, once you get to Nemo, that's where you got to figure out, like, will that be walled off or just cause I can't see him? I well, I can see him like this, blocking it all off so you just can't loop around the park.

Speaker 8:

I will say, speaking of the marathon, for 2025, I think it's going to stay the same because if, if you look at, if people are wanting to try and get to Dinosaur, that pathway that we've run on is still going to be open to get there. Plus, the exit is through that shop, so that means that that walkway is still going to be open. So for 2025, it should still be the same. 2026 is the one in question.

Speaker 4:

My big concern that I haven't heard addressed yet is what's going to happen to the restaurant, a source lounge. I know one of my favorites.

Speaker 7:

Isn't that going to be the Hacienda or the new Hacienda that they were talking about?

Speaker 6:

Oh, the Pueblo yeah.

Speaker 4:

But that's one of the best lounges, kind of out of the way.

Speaker 7:

Secret yeah.

Speaker 4:

Yeah.

Speaker 7:

I. Once it's done and the construction is done, I do think it's going to be really beautiful to run through there. And I hope that they have the carousel going and that could be a ride that you could hop on. Oh, yeah, yeah. I don't. Did you see the carving of Kevin as one of the sample carousels?

Speaker 7:

Yes, it's beautiful and it would make for amazing pictures to be running the marathon. Hop on that carousel. I know they did the carousel in Magic Kingdom once during the half, but this would be the only way to get that carousel during the marathon. It would be a marathon exclusive photo, just because of the way the courses work. So I think once it's done there's a lot of potential for some cool stuff in that land. Also, just because we're talking about boat rides earlier, I cannot figure out if incanto is going to have a boat aspect or not, because to me I'm like trackless ride through casita, right, that makes sense, but in the picture it kind of looks like a boat. It looks and they're in the jungle room and I'm like does the trackless ride turn into a boat?

Speaker 6:

like like surprise, like I don't, I'm curious so and I'm also curious because we are in animal kingdom are they gonna have a couple of exhibits with real animals? Or is it all gonna be like? Animatronics because you know animal kingdom has like the little areas that you walk through and you see like I'm curious if they'll put any of that aspect into the animal room, like behind glass or something I do.

Speaker 5:

When I was thinking of it, I was thinking that it's gonna be more of.

Speaker 5:

I can't think of what the little boy's name is that has like the whole jungle antonio yes, antonio's room, more of the theme, like I mean, it's the casita, but I think it's gonna be leaning more towards that because it's all the animals. Or at least in my head I feel like that's what they should do because it's animal kingdom and it goes with the theme. But I also see disney kind of like going away from the themes of like what the parks were originally too. So maybe they're not thinking about that.

Speaker 7:

It'll be interesting because there's definitely the casita that you enter, but the show building out back in the model for the main ride part was massive, yeah, so I think there'd be enough room to do both, maybe.

Speaker 3:

So I mean in terms of ride system. Amanda, I think it's going to be a trackless ride because I think they talked about like the ride vehicles are going to be various pieces of furniture, so to me, like furniture floating on the water, to me just doesn't jive. But at the same time they were very, very vague in what they meant by it.

Speaker 8:

I don't mind sitting on a sofa, you know.

Speaker 7:

I thought it was going to be basically like Mystic Manor, which is a trackless system, instead of the haunted house. It's Mystic Manor and it's that, but casita style, right, and it's interacting with you. Concept art that they flashed on the screen for like half a second. It it kind of looks like a boat. It does look like a boat, yeah, yeah and I'm like another boat ride well, you know what it's interesting.

Speaker 3:

You say that because, literally right before we started recording, I got my alert alert of a of a tweet by Scott Gustin that said that Disney actually had to clarify um, the the Lion King land out in Paris, because Josh said on stage that the whole land, including the ride, was based off of the animated Lion King. But then the concept art that they flashed up featured the live action Lion King and they had to clarify, to say that that was an early piece of concept art and that it will in fact be based on the animated movie. So maybe we're in a similar situation here, where maybe that was just an early piece of concept art and when it was a boat ride and maybe now it will be trackless. But again, we will all have to wait and see. Obviously, the other announcement made for animal kingdom was um, let's pour one out for hopper and flick and the um, the tough to be a bug is going away in uh lieu of zootopia, but I don't think that's.

Speaker 3:

You know, obviously that's so far into the center of the park I I don't see that having much of a run disney impact and they said it was going to be opening soon, sometime 2025, I believe uh, winter 2025. So, yeah, yeah, so we got a little bit of time, yeah, okay, so before we move on, I just want to check, john alicia jack, how we doing are you know, dinosaurs still to be open for a little bit, but I just want to make sure my friends are okay.

Speaker 5:

For a little bit. I'm still hopeful that they're just going to run out of money and it's going to be one of those things where they're, like we're doing this and then they're like just kidding, we're not doing it, we're going to keep Dinosaur.

Speaker 4:

There is some precedent.

Speaker 8:

I think some precedent. I think my main thing is is I'm gonna truly miss dinosaur. It was a one-of-a-kind attraction, um, and they just don't make attractions like that anymore, where it's like, yeah, there's a little bit of ip in there, but like it's not ip, it's based off this movie actually it wasn't based off a movie when it started, not? Originally, when it was um, when it was named, what was it?

Speaker 8:

countdown to extinction they had no ip in it, but the dinosaur that they have out front and the one that you see in the ride that is from the movie dinosaur. So that's why I say there's a little bit ip in there, but it's just like they just don't make anything original anymore yep and they always have to stick some kind of ip in there.

Speaker 8:

So I'm just hoping, like I love. To be honest. I love everything they announced, but I hope they go back to the same idea that you know what. It's going to be cool to make something original again.

Speaker 2:

After all, this is over it was a scarier ride than most disney rides oh, I remember I I wrote it when I was seven I don't like dinosaur.

Speaker 6:

It was too scary for me.

Speaker 2:

And you probably never did Alien Encounter.

Speaker 6:

No, I didn't.

Speaker 8:

I didn't either, don't worry.

Speaker 4:

Guys, great discussion. I got to tell you I was, for the most part, a fascinated listener. As much as I love Disney and I absolutely do Disney World I haven't been to Disneyland for a while. I'm excited, but I don't have the depth of knowledge or the understanding of this that you guys do. And I think you do a great job and I would say I'm looking forward to hearing what we have to talk about next week, but I already know so we'll be back with the second half of that discussion in episode 152. Hey, one of our buddies, one of our longtime friends of the Rise and Run podcast, made a special announcement on Instagram.

Speaker 3:

Yeah. So just the other week we saw that our favorite dopey champion, brittany Charbonneau, is expecting her first child with her, as she calls them, the juzband yeah right. So we're beyond thrilled and we want to send our congratulations to Brittany. I believe they've already had the gender reveal and they're going to be having a baby boy. So from all of us here at Rise and Run, congratulations, brittany. We are going to figure out how to get a baby Rise and Run visor out to you as a shower gift, so that your child can also be in defense of the visor as well too. But again, we're just so excited.

Speaker 3:

And now it makes a ton of sense because when we were interviewing her, you know we were asking her about, you know when would we see her at Disney again? And, you know, would she be running a marathon weekend? And when we did the math in our head, I think when we were chatting with britney, she was technically already pregnant. Obviously didn't tell us so that makes a ton of sense of why she has not committed to any, uh, run disney events. But if she does want to run dopey while pregnant, uh, she should talk to monica over the chaos current I'm sure she can probably give her a couple of pointers.

Speaker 4:

There are others. Monica, most famously because I think she was the furthest along, but she's not the only person.

Speaker 3:

So but but again. Congratulations, britney again. We are just absolutely over the moon for you and the Jusband yeah, congratulations.

Speaker 4:

Hey, disneyland Halloween Guide was released. We'd like to talk about it in rough terms. Our problem is, most of us we're not sure what all this means. But let's start with the Expo which begins on Thursday at the Disneyland Hotel Exhibit Hall. I'm going on Thursday. My plan is to go there in the morning. It opens at 10 and stays open until 8. My plan is to go there at 10 and then visit the parks, but as we see with Disney World, it's noon to 8 on Friday and 10 to 4 on Saturday. Noon to eight on Friday and 10 to four on Saturday. Now, greg did this great work to dig all these, that this data out, all these data out, and I'm going to read them. But they don't mean anything to me. Bibs can be picked up in the Magic Kingdom ballroom. If you see a very tall old fellow wandering around and you know Disneyland, point him to the ballroom. If you see a very tall old fellow wandering around and you know Disneyland, point him to the ballroom. Okay.

Speaker 5:

So, bob, it's called Magic Kingdom ballroom, but it's not actually in like the Magic Kingdom.

Speaker 4:

Okay, well, that makes it even easier, that's great, that's great.

Speaker 2:

I got my park ticket. I'm in this park. I can't find my bib.

Speaker 4:

They said oh, by the way, I did get my park tickets this week, so I'm set. I got the park tickets with the what do they call it now? The lightning.

Speaker 3:

Lightning lane Yep. Lightning lane or multi-pass, or whatever it's being called this week.

Speaker 4:

What it's called? Yeah, I being called this week. What it's called? Yeah, I don't know, but anyway. So once you find the magic kingdom ballroom and pick up your bib, find me, show me where it's at, then the shirts can be picked up in the grand ballroom of the disneyland hotel exhibit hall. Same deal there. Point me, you know, be kind, point me in a direction for the run Disney merch, just like we do at Disney World, there's a virtual queue. So you want to enter the virtual queue if you want to get into the Run Disney merch, but I don't have any other details on it. I don't know if you need to be within 40 miles of Disneyland.

Speaker 2:

But there's one detail you need the Disneyland Park app, not the Walt Disney World park app.

Speaker 3:

Good point there.

Speaker 2:

John.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, hey, legit question. I'm not trying to be funny. My magic bands won't work at Disneyland, will they If?

Speaker 3:

you have the Magic Band Plus the newer ones that light up.

Speaker 4:

Is that right If?

Speaker 3:

you have that, you can link that to the Disneyland app. But the originals and the one that came out in between like the 2.0 or whatever those won't work. It's just the fancy ones that light up and beep and boop and all that jazz. Well, Becky's got one of those Okay so Becky will be able to, you will not.

Speaker 4:

And I'll just have to stand outside the park, I guess.

Speaker 5:

They have fancy ticket dispensers where they like scan the pass and then they'll like prints the ticket right there and they're like here you go really well, it'll be fun.

Speaker 4:

It'll be fun all right.

Speaker 3:

So the first event of the weekend is yoga, which takes place inside of disneyland. Uh, if you happen to be driving to the event, the mickey and friends parking garage opens at 3 am, security opens at 3 30 and then check-in begins at 3 45 and closes one hour later at 4 45, and then your one hour yoga session begins at 5 am.

Speaker 5:

The artwork for the yoga was super cute. Though, even if you're not doing Disneyland Halloween, go and look at the event guide, because it's a super cute little skeleton goofy doing like a yoga pose. It's really cute.

Speaker 4:

A skeleton goofy.

Speaker 5:

Yeah.

Speaker 4:

And I didn't sign up for yoga.

Speaker 3:

I fully expect you that, by the time you get back, to be able to do that exact same pose that Goofy's done.

Speaker 4:

Oh man, Look at that.

Speaker 2:

For the 5K the Halloween 5K Mickey and Friends Parking Garage opens at 3 o'clock, security will open at 3.30. Staging area and corrals will open at 4. And the race begins at 5, and the start lines close at 5.15. So it looks like they're getting it out quick.

Speaker 4:

I reckon Course looks neat. Yeah, Starts on Main Street and ends. What is that area?

Speaker 3:

Pixar Pier.

Speaker 4:

Okay, that's cool. Stays in the park for most of it it looks like a lot of fun. A lot of positive comments on the 5K course from the last event at Disneyland. I don't know if this is the same course or not, but it looks like fun.

Speaker 5:

I think it's different, but I didn't do it last time, I don't know. So the 10K the Toy Story parking lot opens at 3 am. Reminder that the race starts on Disney Way, not on Main Street USA like the 5K did. Security will open at 3.30 am, the staging area and corrals will open at 3.30 am as well, and the race begins at 5 am and the start line closes at 5.25.

Speaker 3:

This looks like another great course too a lot of park time.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, yeah, yeah, it starts and ends in the parking lot, but after about a mile and a half, from about a mile and a half to about five and a half, it looks like you're in or near the parks. I'm kind of excited about this one. Well, I'm excited about all of it, but this looks like a great course Half marathon. All the times for the half marathon are the same as they were for the 10K, in terms of when the parking lots open, et cetera. It starts and finishes at about the same spot as the 10K. Once again, the part of the course that runs through the parks looks like fun. You get into the park at about a mile and a half and you stay into it until about oh, let's say about four and a half miles. Then you're out into anaheim, which is fine. As far as I'm concerned, I'm not sure what to expect here. I think we have some hills, but we'll deal with them. One of the highlights here is you're run by the Honda Center, which is the hockey slash, basketball arena, right.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, where the Ducks play. That's right. Of course the Lakers play at the Forum, as do the Clippers right. They share the Forum.

Speaker 3:

Yes.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, is it the Forum? Is it Staples Center it?

Speaker 3:

changes names. Like every other thing, it changes names every three weeks.

Speaker 4:

John, you're correct. You're correct, but you know again old school.

Speaker 2:

The old Forum you're thinking of, Old school LA. Yeah, you're right.

Speaker 4:

It's owned by MSG now, which is even weirder. Well, you get to run through Angel Stadium this time. A lot of folks are excited about that. Is that what it's really called? It doesn't have a sponsor. It probably has a sponsor.

Speaker 3:

It probably does. Say hi to Mike Trout, as you're running on the track, bob.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, it looks like it came out of it right out at 11 miles, so that's pretty neat, uh, and then back to the parking lot to the finish. So there you go. The event guide's out. You want more information? Check it out, and I look forward to seeing you there. And it is called angel stadium. Bob, I'll be a son of a gun. There's a marketing opportunity there.

Speaker 2:

And actually, which is the fourth oldest active baseball park in the majors.

Speaker 4:

Behind. I know two of them, behind Fenway and Wrigley.

Speaker 2:

And the other one's right down the road, the Dodger Stadium.

Speaker 4:

Yep. Oh wow, yeah, yeah. But I'm just thinking there's a marketing opportunity there. I don't know how many shirts we'd have to sell, but Rise and Run Stadium. What do you think?

Speaker 3:

Ooh. That'd be a huge licensing deal. That'd be great.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, oh, here's one thing that's not in the guide Our Disneyland group meetup, saturday at 3 PM. It's in the Disney Springs area, downtown Disney area. I did that last week. I did that last week. I said it's in the downtown Disney area at Disney Springs. It's just, you know, it's in the downtown Disney area at Disney Springs, it's just. You know, it's in the brain. Disney Springs is in the brain, but it's in the downtown Disney area. 3 pm. Grace, alan and Grace are providing the cookies. Yeah, I'm impressed. I appreciate that.

Speaker 4:

We really really hope that you'll be able to get by there. At least get by to say hello. We'll start officially at 3, but we're usually there beforehand and we will take a group photo at 3.30. So try to be there by then if you can. And we have a great time. We're almost always there for an hour and a half, two hours, no set closing time. What happens is folks have dinner reservations. We have to get going after that, but they're a lot of fun. Look forward to seeing you there. Yeah, the exact location it's, it's. Uh, there's a map on our group page in our in our group meetups, and I'm told that I x marked the spot appropriately, so you should be able to find it from there at least I hope I know that's. One of the first things I'm going to do when I get over there on wednesday is find our area yeah, I think it's when you're.

Speaker 3:

If you're in the esplanade and you're facing disneyland, it is all the way to the left-hand side just before the area where you get the tram to go to the parking garages.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, that sounds right. Again, greg, we're describing an area I don't know about, but that those are some of the terms I've heard before. So that sounds right. I appreciate it, guys. Hey, episode 152 next week. Amanda will finish our discussion on D23. It's fun. I promise you won't want to miss it.

Speaker 4:

All right, my friends, it's time for the race report. The race report is brought to you by our friend Tom Stokes at Stoked Metabolic Training. Tom Stokes at Stoked Metabolic Training, stokesfit, slash, rise and run coaching is the place to go to check out Tom's latest offers. Tom has come up with and I'm going to talk about more next week. Tom has come up with new plans going forward after the summer challenge is over, so we'll give more details on those next week. I have been really impressed and really happy with the results of this summer challenge and I hope my friends out there who are doing it feel the same way. All right, friends, let's begin the race report on Friday out in Utah. Now, I remember this event from last year. I remember reading about it. It sounds really interesting, but we didn't have anybody to come on and tell us about it. I think they call it well. First let me introduce to you our Race Report. Spotlight friend for the week. Missy's here with us. Hi, missy, thanks for joining us.

Speaker 9:

Hello, thank you for having me, I really appreciate it.

Speaker 4:

We're excited. This is an interesting event. It's the 29029 Challenge. Is that what it's called?

Speaker 9:

Yes, Essentially it's 29029 Everesting.

Speaker 4:

Everesting. Everesting, that's what it's called. Yes, significance being that is the height of Mount Everest, correct? I'm going to get back to our typical start of yeah, how'd you get started running, and all that, but why don't you explain what this thing is and how it works?

Speaker 9:

So what it is is? It is a hiking challenge where they have six different mountains over the summer and each mountain has a different vertical uh, vertical feet to reach Everest and each mountain has a different mileage to get to the top of the mountain. I was at snow basin, so each climb for us was 2.3 miles and a little over 2,300 vertical feet.

Speaker 4:

A little over 2,300.

Speaker 9:

Okay 2,310, to be exact.

Speaker 4:

Okay.

Speaker 9:

So each climb up you get 2,300 feet, 2.3 miles, and then you gondola down and you do it again.

Speaker 4:

Yeah.

Speaker 9:

And to reach Everest is 13 summits 13 trips.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, we'll get back to the details in a minute. That's interesting. You gondola down. They're all done at ski slopes, right? Yes, Hence the gondolas. That's nice. Well, that's interesting. I am now, now that you've introduced what it is we're talking about, again. We mentioned we're talking about the one in Europe, not in Europe, in Utah. Why don't you tell us, Missy, as I frequently ask our friends, how you got started running?

Speaker 9:

Oh goodness, I started running high school, middle school, as a way to prepare me for other sports, so it was kind of like a means to an end. I was a soccer player, volleyball player, ran track, so I always used running as a way to stay fit and prepare me for whatever sport I was doing.

Speaker 4:

So you've basically been a runner most of your life then.

Speaker 9:

Yes, sir.

Speaker 4:

That's cool. What made you decide to take on this challenge?

Speaker 9:

It was something new and something different, and I don't know if you, if you, recall, but I have Parkinson's, and so that was, it was a challenge for me to prove to myself that I could do hard things.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, that is remarkable, Absolutely remarkable. So I understand and of course, we all support and applaud you for that. Now this thing starts you said 2,900 feet per climb, Is that right?

Speaker 9:

23, 23.

Speaker 4:

23. Okay, 23. But you start at about 6,400 feet.

Speaker 8:

Yes.

Speaker 4:

Do you live at a high altitude?

Speaker 9:

No, definitely not. I live in Stephenville, Texas.

Speaker 4:

So that would not be a high altitude.

Speaker 9:

That would not be high altitude at all.

Speaker 4:

So this must have come as a little bit of a shock to you, because you're starting over a mile up.

Speaker 9:

Yes, yes, I will say that that that's one of the reasons we went out early.

Speaker 4:

Yes.

Speaker 9:

But there's no way to prepare for this kind of challenge except to be on a mountain. Yeah, that you know. For realistically, for me I would have. I would have needed more time on a mountain.

Speaker 4:

How early did you get out there?

Speaker 9:

We flew out Monday, so we were there Monday four or five days.

Speaker 4:

Four or five days Not too bad. A week or two or 30 days might've been better. Having been born there, it might have been better yeah. How did you train for it?

Speaker 9:

Lots of training up and down. You know small hills, wherever I could find a hill. I trained out at my mom's farm. She had some, you know some terrain that was gravelly and kind of inclined, but it's hard to replicate. You know a 19th grade and you know sometimes more than that. I'll admit I had a couple of panic attacks on one spread of the mountain. It just you know, you're looking you don't look up because you're afraid you're going to fall backwards.

Speaker 4:

It started on Friday and went through Saturday. Obviously, then you ran through the night.

Speaker 5:

Yes.

Speaker 4:

Or ran hiked, hiked through the night.

Speaker 9:

We hiked through the night. We did yes, or ran hiked. Hiked through the night, we hiked through the night we did. Right around Friday, close to dusk, a thunderstorm moved through. That was pretty, I mean, it was pretty strong. So they shut down the gondola and they pulled all the climbers off and had everybody kind of shelter in place wherever they were.

Speaker 9:

So they added an extra hour on at the end um thanks, yeah, it was nice but that happened right around, right around dusk, so I didn't start my third climb until sundown started. So I had my headlamp with me and managed to get up, get one climb in the dark, but that was it for me.

Speaker 4:

I was like, okay, I did, I did a night climb, I'm good okay, and then you subsequently did, because you did four, as I recall, right yes, sir, I did four four, yeah, and please explain the way this works. Four is a mountain height from Australia.

Speaker 9:

Correct, correct, it's called Kooziosko and it's the highest peak in Australia. It's 7,310 feet.

Speaker 4:

Yeah. Notice how I said a mountain peak from Australia. I was waiting for you to pronounce it. I was like I think I could, but I was going to let you have first shot. Kooziosko, huh.

Speaker 9:

Jason kept saying it's Mount Koousco, it's Mount Cusco. I'm like it is not a Disney movie, it is not Cusco, it is Cusiasco.

Speaker 4:

Cusiasco, yeah, yeah, uh, that was awesome. So you did the one at night, and then I I guess you waited and did number four, then the next morning.

Speaker 9:

Yes.

Speaker 4:

Uh-huh.

Speaker 9:

I needed to take a break overnight, and so I got up Saturday and did one more Saturday and that was it for me. I knew it's kind of interesting when I started doing. You know, we all do the running math at some point. And so I started doing the running math on the first, on the first climb, and when I got halfway up I looked at my watch and I was like there is no way that I'm going to get 13 cents. I said I'll be happy.

Speaker 9:

I'll be happy to get you know three or four. And so when I got four, I was I was like, okay, that's a good number for me.

Speaker 4:

Well, four was good because four was the first level of an award, right, yeah, and it's like 7,300 feet altogether or something.

Speaker 9:

Yeah, that's it, it's 7,300 feet.

Speaker 4:

So each time you summited you would come back to base camp and you had some kind of a ritual there.

Speaker 9:

They have this really cool thing that they do. It's a branding board and they use their logo, which is a triangle with the seven summits, and you take the branding iron and you brand it right on your first summit and then you brand above it on your second, and so you go all the way up. People have all the way up to 13 and everywhere in between.

Speaker 4:

What was the trail like?

Speaker 9:

Steep, mostly gravel rocks, very dusty. The first two summits for me were really dusty, kind of slippery at points, very little leveling off, as they call it. So you, so you know just when you, when you find a level spot, you take a break, rest your legs, your calves, hamstrings, um, and then you just keep moving. There was one, uh, there was one little Creek river crossing. That was not much at all, but it was kind of a nice break to concentrate on that as opposed to going, you know, upward. How was support? What was available for you in terms of support? Oh, my goodness, um, their support team is incredible. They it ranges from they provide you with the 20 week training plan. They provide you with, uh, coaches calls every other week. They provide you with the 20-week training plan. They provide you with coaches calls every other week. They provide you with one-on-one training if you want it. They provide when you get there. They provide all the meals, all the food there are.

Speaker 9:

On our mountain there were, you know, the base aid station and the summit aid station and then two on the mountain itself that had everything you needed. They had electrolytes, they had food, they had gels and goos. They had everything you needed. The volunteers were amazing. Some of the volunteers are alumni that come just to support the climbers. They had coaches on the mountain that would walk with you. I walked with two of the coaches at two separate times. One of them helped me get up the scary part after the second aid station at night and I'm quite sure and Jason was there at that second aid station and I'm quite sure if Chris hadn't gone with me, I would have not finished that third summit.

Speaker 4:

Well, that's great. Let's see here You're going to do it again.

Speaker 9:

I'm thinking about it. Yeah, I think I really I want to try and get to the next mountain, which is Mount Vincent, and that's the highest in Antarctica Interesting, One more ascent for that or two. Actually it's seven, Seven more. It'd be three more total of seven.

Speaker 4:

Three more, total of seven. Okay, that's still significant. That's almost twice as many.

Speaker 8:

Yeah.

Speaker 4:

But wow, Wow.

Speaker 9:

I think you know there are some things that I do different and I think, knowing what I know now, I think I could get to seven.

Speaker 4:

That's impressive. That's really really amazing, missy Well thank you.

Speaker 2:

I was doing some math and the course you covered was 9.2 miles for the whole event. Yep, you climbed 7,310 feet of elevation. Mm-hmm. That's almost 800 feet per mile of elevation that's pretty….

Speaker 4:

Yeah, that's, significant.

Speaker 9:

Yes, yeah, it's the coaches, when, when they tell us, you know, they say this is hard, there isn't an easy mountain, this is going to be hard. And some people take it to heart, some people kind of wave it off oh, it's hard, okay, whatever. I took it to heart and I said I know how hard this is going to be. I, you know, and I and I trained as best I could and even still, when I was starting up that mountain, I was like I had no idea how hard it was going to be. It is literally the hardest thing I've ever done.

Speaker 4:

Well, I I have no problem believing that it sounds. Just listening to it about it, it sounds extremely difficult. Did the Parkinson's present an extra challenge?

Speaker 9:

It did. The biggest challenge was just being out of my routine and you know, when you're, when you, you know you can't just wake up and you know go to the kitchen and get your medicine and all those kind of things. So that was a challenge. Just the anxiety was a challenge and you know, just especially at night, just knowing where to put my foot. Yeah right, because my legs kind of started to not want to cooperate after a certain point. So, um, I had to take longer breaks and just really be mindful of my hydration and my fueling to keep myself going. Um, but yeah, it was, it was pretty, it was rough, parkinson's, you know, kind of snuck in there a couple of times, but it worked. Everything, everything came through in the end.

Speaker 4:

Outstanding Uh any Disney events in your future.

Speaker 9:

I'm doing the Disneyland California 5k.

Speaker 4:

All right.

Speaker 9:

I will be there in my Ahsoka costume.

Speaker 4:

Okay Awesome, I uh, I will see you there. Allsoka costume Okay Awesome, I will see you there.

Speaker 9:

All right, I'll see you there.

Speaker 4:

Missy, it's truly inspirational. It's inspirational for anyone to do it, but with that extra dimension of the physical problem of Parkinson's, I think it's just totally remarkable. Thank you for spending time to tell us about it.

Speaker 9:

Absolutely. Thank you for having me.

Speaker 4:

We appreciate it and maybe we'll talk to you next year.

Speaker 9:

Maybe, All right, we'll have another one to tell you about.

Speaker 4:

But I will see you in a couple of weeks.

Speaker 9:

Absolutely.

Speaker 4:

All right, sounds great Thanks. Thank you All right. Thanks to Missy. Thank you All right. Thanks to Missy for that great report, once again very inspirational. Let's go to Saturday. Here's another great and interesting event that we are going to talk about more later the Marathon Portou in Paris, the one that you may have seen on TV that was run between the men's marathon and the women's marathon.

Speaker 4:

The folks got out on the streets at night and ran the marathon course 20,000 participants, among them Julia who said what a thrill to do this. The hills were no joke. I saw that from the races. They were tough, made Julia long for the little baby on-ramp hills we have at Disney. But what a great experience. She was dressed so that she got a bunch of USA chances. She was running along, famous for a night. That's cool. Heather, same words, amazing event, beautiful course. Crowd support was fantastic. Never in a million years did I think I'd be leaving Paris with a PR yeah, 11 minutes gone from her previous marathon time and Emmy did this one also. Julia, heather and Emmy will be with us in two weeks and to talk about this race. Emmy will be with us also. We're going to talk with her about Flying Pig. I know Flying Pig hasn't come up, but Emmy works with Flying Pig, one of the bigger running events in the US, in Cincinnati, ohio, so I'm looking forward to that. Did they get medals for that race? Yes, they did get medals for the marathon port too. Uh, they, I they're hard to describe. They did not have a lot of writing on them. But yeah, they definitely did get medals for them.

Speaker 4:

Let's go to Chicago, illinois, the brewery run 5k. This one from the illuminated brew Works Laura was there Says just over a 5K. Pretty nice Chicago neighborhood. The run was good but the brewery was small for the size of the group. So afterward Laura and her husband found a great Irish pub for lunch. Laura, you're appealing to things I love very much Small breweries. Chicago's not a small town. Small breweries and Irish pubs Love them both. Glad you had a good time.

Speaker 4:

Antigo, wisconsin, the Antigo Tater Trot 10K and 5K. Jay and the entire family did this one Beautiful day for a race. Jay, cindy and Jay's dad, kevin, did the 10K. Jay's sister, christy, was nice enough to walk the 6K with Jay and Cindy's children, amelia and Abigail. Everyone did very well. Kevin, jay's dad, third in his age group. Nicely done, kevin. I'm proud of you, bro. Us old guys have got to stick together, man. Good job. Nice awards for the age group Really were Individual trophy type. Things looked great. Afterward the family stopped, got the girls some slushies, found out being one of the best days ever. Nice, love hearing about that kind of stuff.

Speaker 4:

Up in Harlem, new York, the Percy, sutton, harlem 5K Megan was there, ran that one. The Pumpkin Ridge races and daggumit Vanessa, sarah, christina I forgot to write down where this was. I know they're in the Pacific Northwest somewhere. But Vanessa and Christina did the 5K. Sarah did the 10K. Beautiful course, pretty flat road course. Oreos at the end of the race that's always nice. Now Vanessa ran part of the 5K with Christina and Sarah. It was fantastic. Sarah in the 10K, it was great cheering Sarah in. Vanessa did the race. Last year. It had some. It wasn't all planned perfectly, had some hiccups Still great. But the organizers definitely worked hard and it was much better this year.

Speaker 4:

In Akron, ohio, the Goodyear Half Marathon Lori, hard race hill after hill in Akron. Not too bad for being ill last week. Weather was perfect with the start being 59 degrees. I can't even imagine that Lori ran this one in just a tiny bit over two hours and 37 minutes. Good job, lori. You've been doing a great job lately.

Speaker 4:

Bridgewater, connecticut, a one-mile race. In bucolic, bridgewater, sue knocked out town number 162. Seven to go Heading to 169. In Vieira, florida, monica and the Chaos Crew took on the tailgate two miler. This is race number two of the seven races in the Running Zones series. Let's see. We start off by describing the pizza, wings and cake at the. Your priorities right there, monica. That's cool heisman trophy style awards for the age group winners. I'd like to see one of those. Uh, monica's oldest daughter and she both came in under 15 minutes to take second place in the age group. As a team, the chaos crew came in sixth in the team division. Now they took the five fastest runners for the team division, the winning team. The five runners averaged 512 a mile. That's pretty competitive stuff there.

Speaker 3:

You got that right, holy cow.

Speaker 4:

So to take sixth in the team group, pretty darn good. Baltimore had the dreaded Druid Hills 10K and Jen was there for that one. In Madison, wisconsin, the Madison Mini Marathon. Megan ran the Madison Mini Marathon I can't say that three times fast. Weather was amazing 53 degrees Gosh, that's wonderful, beautiful course through downtown Madison, beside or around Three Lakes, through the UW-Madison Arboretum and through the campus. Lots of support, lots of cheering. On course, probably going to be in her regular rotation of races Now number six in Megan's goal to run the 50 states. She's not quite as close as Sue is to finishing, but you got to start somewhere right. And six, you got a good handle on that. You're getting going.

Speaker 4:

Colorado Springs had a race weekend the hometown 10K and half marathon. Medals for this thing were really cool. They were like a three-axis spinner or something. They looked like gyroscopes. They were neat. Uh, leslie ran the 10k. Did it as a catered training run. I guess shipley's donuts are a big treat in the colorado springs area. Weather again almost perfect, all these lovely temperatures. I'm glad you're having them, friends. Course was on pavement and dirt trail. Some spots were muddy, could have been raining for a couple of days. Leslie almost slipped into a puddle before righting herself and finishing strong. Good job, kristen. Did her first half marathon since Disneyland Paris in 2018. She missed. She actually missed the start because of the long lines at Corral P, and so she ran a lot of this more or less by herself, but she knocked it out. Good job, kristen.

Speaker 4:

The 2024 Arizona Sunrise Series this one at the Riparian Preserve. This is the last race in the series. First time Molly got to run this one she missed the previous couple of years for one reason or another had to run one virtually Walked the 5K today. It wasn't too hot but kind of muggy. Now on to Disneyland. See you there in three weeks.

Speaker 4:

Molly. Houston, texas, the Watermelon Dash 5k and 10k. Brandy ran the 10k. This wrapped up the Houston Summer Dash series, which consisted of the Popsicle, lemonade and Watermelon runs. Even if they're hot, the races are named to make them sound a little cooler for you. Jennifer was there. Jennifer did the 5K races becoming quite popular in the three years she's run it. As this year was sold out, ran into some other Run Disney friends that's nice. And some of her teacher friends Managed to better her time by over 30 seconds from May's Memorial Day 5K, as this is one of our Jennifer friends who has had some serious health problems but is getting stronger and feeling like her old self. I'm we're all really really glad to see that, Jennifer, and we're proud of you. Keep it up. All really really glad to see that, jennifer, and we're proud of you. Keep it up. Hey, this one looked kind of neat the shawshank hustle at the shawshank state prison in mansfield, ohio, where they did, in fact, film the shawshank redemption.

Speaker 3:

This may be the coolest going to say these photos were absolutely amazing this year. So cool.

Yeah this metal is modeled like a Bible and it opens up to show the dugout section where the little pickaxe was hidden that the actors Andy Dufresne Andy Dufresne was the character name, yeah Used to escape from the prison. What a classic movie. What a neat looking run and just a great medal. Let's see. Leslie was there. Great race, great hills, beautiful carousel and 4.6 miles of pure joy and excitement. She says this medal actually weighs about two pounds. Ran this one 10 minutes faster than last year. It's a 7K. Susan was there 7K. They had character and photo stops, Even Rye, which I think was the carousel, if you wanted. Everybody comments on the medal. At this one Folks ran in costumes. They had DJs. This looks like a fun race.

Speaker 2:

I just hope you don't have to exit the same way Andy exited.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, for folks who don't know what John is talking about, you gotta watch this movie.

Speaker 2:

It's probably one of the top 10 movies of all time.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, on the internet movie database, which fans rate their movies in stars and so they keep a track. I don't know if it still is, but it was their number one movie in terms of fan rating and it holds up it's. It's an old movie. Now it's. It's probably 25 years old or so.

Speaker 2:

I think maybe more than that.

Speaker 4:

It could be.

Speaker 2:

But it holds up 1994, Bob it's 30 years.

Speaker 4:

It's 30 years old, yeah, but I'm telling you it still holds up. It's still worth watching. If you've never seen it before, do yourself a favor. Let's move on to P forge, tennessee, the smoky mountain. Midnight 8k, jimmy ran it dark spots on the course, well, midnight. But reminded him of his training runs. I reckon he gets up early on those. Nothing bad happened. Started out of the high school and ran over to the island I'm not sure what island and then back. So out and back course. Definitely going to do it again next year In Edwardsville, illinois, the Watershed Endurance Run.

Speaker 4:

Chris did this one. It's a 1.1 mile loop, six hour time limit, starting at 6 pm. I remember this one from last year and I think it was Chris who did it last year. If you go to look at the photos, this is the one that has a four foot wide bridge across a marshy, swampy wetlands area and there's no railing on the bridge. It's across the watershed and it's really an adventure once it gets dark, especially if you're trying to pass somebody or they're trying to pass you. Uh, but uh, I don't know if anybody fell in. Chris didn't say anything. Uh, beautiful night ended up finishing more than a marathon, 26.9 miles. That's chris's longest run since well, I already gave it away this time last year when he did the same event, but that's an ultra Good job, chris. Chris then took the Beagles which, if I'm not mistaking, no notes here, this is all from memory Woody and Jesse out for a two-mile slow run the next morning.

Speaker 4:

That wraps up Saturday. Let's look at Sunday. Not a whole lot. On Sunday, the Tunnel Vision Marathon in North Bend, washington. Lucy Lucy's fourth overall marathon, first non-Disney marathon. The first two plus or minus miles of the course go through an old railway tunnel. This is a fully downhill course, so our quads are feeling it by the end. I mean, fully downhill sounds good and it's easier than fully uphill, but it's a challenge. Also Didn't quite train as much as she wanted to. Still came away with a PR Of four hours and 16 minutes A very, very solid time, lucy. Good job. That's going to be a proof of time for next year's Disney races. That'll put you right up there in a corral. I feel pretty comfortable.

Speaker 4:

In Costa Mesa, california, richard ran the OC Fair Fun Run 5K and we wrap up the race report in denver for the average joe run. Alexis and I believe her husband ran this one foggy kind of chilly. Alexis set a decades pr and she's getting closest, closer to her all-time pr for a 5K. Only three minutes away, she was close to earning the average Jane award, and I know this from other races like this that's the middle finisher. So if you can be the middle finisher female, you're the average Jane. You win the award. The average Joe is the male finisher. Alexis actually finished right behind the woman who won the award and her husband came in six people behind her, which for him was a PR for a 5K.

Speaker 4:

Let's wrap this one up. When Alexis says Krispy Kreme donuts should be at the finish line of every race, can't argue with that. Not a bad idea. All right, friends. That does it for episode 151 of the Rise and Run podcast. Thanks so much for joining us. We love having you with us, friends, and if you run, you know you are our friend. No zoom call this week.
