May 23, 2024 The RDMTeam Season 4 Episode 139

Ever mistaken your neighbor for a game show legend? We sure did, kicking off this laugh-a-minute podcast with a Family Feud-style showdown that pits the Will Run For family against the dynamic Rise and Run crew. As we hilariously grapple with questions about Run Disney favorites and the oddest hiding spots for race medals, you'll feel like part of our quirky, running-obsessed tribe. From socks and underwear to the unexpected bra stash, our guesses are as wild as the races themselves!

Imagine trying to agree on the most cringe-worthy spots in Disney World during a marathon – that's exactly where our competition heats up. We share collective groans over Blizzard Beach and other infamous locations, reveling in the camaraderie that only Disney runners can truly understand. Then we raise a glass (or a Mickey pretzel) to the post-race indulgences that keep us sprinting to the finish line. Join us as we survey 100 Run Disney enthusiasts to crown the ultimate victory snack.

The energy doesn't stop there – Devon and Carrie join us to let us know about their latest drop of Zip-A-Dee Tee shirts and the special RISEANDRUN discount code they created for the Rise and Run family.

We finish with the Race Report, of course. Sisters Jenn and Emily are here to chat with us about the NYRR Brooklyn Half Marathon.

So, lace up your sneakers, grab your favorite running snack, and let's hit the pavement together with stories, laughs, and a whole lot of heart.

Speaker 1:

It's time to play Family Feud. Give it up for Steve Harvey.

Speaker 3:

I paid all this money for these special sound effects and I can't even get my name right.

Speaker 4:

Are you not, steve Harvey?

Speaker 3:

I am not Steve Harvey, I'm not even close to steve harvey, uh. But folks, welcome to the first, hopefully not the last uh version of a podcast family feud. We're joined with two very, very special families. First, we like to welcome the will run for family andy wants to woo.

Speaker 5:

He's um, he's interested in the wooing yeah so we'll run for welcome to the game.

Speaker 3:

We're going to start with our team captain, Thomas. Welcome to the show. How excited are you to be here?

Speaker 4:

I'm super excited, bob, can I call you Bob?

Speaker 3:

You can't call me Bob, Call him Steve hey.

Speaker 4:

Steve, I'm very excited to be here. This has been my dream to go head-to-head with a I'm going to say superior podcast family. But you know what this is, David versus Goliath.

Speaker 5:

It's definitely a larger podcast family.

Speaker 4:

That's true, yep, yep. We even have a defector. Well, we'll get to cousin.

Speaker 3:

So, Tom, actually you know, speaking of your crew, why don't you tell us what family members you brought with you for this wonderful game.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, yeah. Well, I have my lovely wife beside me right here. This is Diana.

Speaker 5:

Hello.

Speaker 4:

I have the patriarch of our podcast family, Aaron.

Speaker 6:

Am I a patriarch? Patriarch.

Speaker 7:

I don't think so. Hold on hold on.

Speaker 4:

Am I just a matriarch? I'm really nervous. I've never been on television before.

Speaker 8:

Apparently.

Speaker 4:

I don't know what a patriarch is, and apparently I meant to say matriarch.

Speaker 6:

Hello, I am now the patriarchy of the podcast.

Speaker 4:

Whatever you want to call yourself, you're beautiful and her lovely husband, michael. Hi Michael.

Speaker 10:

Hello.

Speaker 4:

And this is super exciting we have our cousin in from Akron, Ohio. This is Allie.

Speaker 5:

Hi friends.

Speaker 4:

Cousin.

Speaker 11:

Allie I'm.

Speaker 4:

Cousin Allie. It's like you never left. It's like I never went anywhere we haven't seen you in so long.

Speaker 9:

I know I'm so excited to be.

Speaker 7:

Either have we family, neither have we. That's right all right.

Speaker 3:

Well, we'll run for family. Thank you for coming all the way from akron, new jersey and maryland uh to join us here, but we're gonna go to the other side of the studio now and let's welcome the rise and run family yay family. Robert, welcome to the show. Tell us, have you ever been on a game show before?

Speaker 7:

Golly, let me think no.

Speaker 3:

No.

Speaker 7:

This will be the first time. This is very exciting. Excellent, Well.

Speaker 3:

Bob, tell us who you brought with you today.

Speaker 7:

Well, I've got the regular crew. I'm Bob. I'm here with Alicia.

Speaker 11:

Hello.

Speaker 7:

With John, hey how you doing With Lexi.

Speaker 12:

Hello.

Speaker 7:

And with Jack.

Speaker 12:

What up?

Speaker 3:

And John's getting a phone call. We told you cell phones backstage. I thought that was one of your sound effects.

Speaker 5:

I thought it was too.

Speaker 3:

All right. So everybody usually, you know, most people know the rules of Family Feud. I'll just go through them here real quick. We have five rounds. We'll go head to head Now. This is the one thing about this game. It doesn't matter what answer somebody gives. I better hear supportive cheering. You know. Good answer. Good answer for everybody even if you think they sound like a moron. Uh, we'll play five rounds.

Speaker 3:

The first rule yes, the first team to get the 300 points will be our winner and go on to play fast money for the fabulous prize of pride all right, so let's get this game going. Give me bob, give me tom, here we go good answer I'm ready gentlemen, top five answers on the board. Actually, did you folks shake hands yet?

Speaker 7:

Make sure you shake hands Virtual fist bump. Virtual fist bump.

Speaker 3:

There we go. All right, here we go. Top five answers on the board. We surveyed 100 Run Disney runners. Name your favorite resort to stay at for a Run Disney race weekend. Tom.

Speaker 4:

Pop Century.

Speaker 3:

All right. He says Pop. Century Good answer.

Speaker 5:

Tom Good answer. Tom Good answer. Tom Good answer.

Speaker 3:

Survey says that is the number one answer 24 votes. All right, so team will run for you have a decision to make here. Are you going to play or are you going to pass Play, pass, pass, pass.

Speaker 10:

You got to play, we're going to play Bob.

Speaker 3:

All right, we're going to play. All right, let's take it over to diana. Diana, um, just have a quick question for you before we get into this. Um, why do you want rise and run to fail so bad? I heard on a recent podcast episode that you want this audio to drop before rise and runs audio so that you can decimate. Uh, that podcast in the numbers.

Speaker 5:

I think we're just trying to to keep up. I think I also said who were the runners filling out this survey, because there is a venn diagram of will run for and rise and run listeners, but the differences are stark, like we've got a very different the edges are very like the edges are very far apart. I feel like it's.

Speaker 3:

It's just like that venn diagram of taylor swift fans and pearl jam fans it's just me and a whole hoop there we go all right. Well, let's get back to the game here. All right? So we still have four answers on the board. The number one answer of Pop Century is off the board. Give me a favorite resort to stay at for a run Disney race weekend.

Speaker 5:

Steve, I'm going to go with the Boardwalk.

Speaker 3:

The Boardwalk.

Speaker 9:

Good answer Good answer.

Speaker 3:

Survey says number four on the board with six votes alright we're gonna move down to the patriarch.

Speaker 4:

Bob, that's a common mistake.

Speaker 3:

It's matriarch oh, it's matriarch okay common mistake happens all the time. Miss Erin.

Speaker 6:

I do have a question, right, okay, um, usually I'm the one asking the question I understand like, are, are, are all like? If I say like, are all the all-stars considered one resort or are they? Are we considering this septum separate for the purposes?

Speaker 3:

of this. So so here, here's what's going to happen is you're going to give your answer and then you're going to hear the sound effect, and then the judges will weigh in afterwards Okay, yeah, that's what.

Speaker 6:

I wasn't really sure.

Speaker 10:

I don't think you're supposed to get clarification.

Speaker 6:

Like I need clarification Pre-answer.

Speaker 5:

The real Steve wouldn't give you clarification. I know I want clarification. I'll give you mustache and attitude. What is that?

Speaker 6:

All right, fine, I'm not going to go a completely different direction. Anyway, let's go with Port Orleans.

Speaker 3:

Port Orleans. That's a great answer.

Speaker 5:

All right, good answer. I like how you asked a totally irrelevant question.

Speaker 6:

Well, because there's two places in that resort too, so that's what I was thinking. Thinking of like which side would be the more common one for people to stay on?

Speaker 4:

when I say marriott, do you mean hilton?

Speaker 3:

no, okay, those are two completely different portfolios anyway.

Speaker 6:

So your answer is I'm gonna go with port orleans port orleans survey says Port Orleans.

Speaker 3:

Port Orleans Survey says I'll tell you, I will tell you, the judges combined both Port Orleans, French Quarter and Riverside. That is the number two answer on the board.

Speaker 6:

Michael's surprised. He gave me a good answer.

Speaker 10:

Well, I didn't know, they're combined and that's a very small resort, so the likelihood of the number of people being able to stay there seems small everyone I know loves staying there for race weekends yeah, it is a favor of mine, but I am the impartial host though all right, we move over.

Speaker 3:

We move over to michael. Michael, there's two answers left on the board favorite resort to stay at.

Speaker 10:

Uh, richard, I'm gonna say don't call me richard dawson, I'm not gonna kiss you, not yet I'm trying Favorite resort to stay at Richard, I'm going to say Don't call me Richard Dawson.

Speaker 3:

I'm not going to kiss you, not, yet. I'm trying to butter you up.

Speaker 10:

The beard is a little scratchy.

Speaker 3:

Richard Dawson was the one that kissed all the women On Family Feud right, I'm not making that up.

Speaker 10:

At least three of us on this call. Remember that. I will say that is correct. At least three of us on this call, remember that.

Speaker 3:

I will say the Polynesian Resort, the Polynesian Resort.

Speaker 6:

Good answer. Good answer yeah, love it, love it.

Speaker 3:

Survey says number five on the board with five votes. The pressure's on Allie. All right, we go over to the this sucks.

Speaker 13:

We go over to the traitor like no other.

Speaker 10:

Allie.

Speaker 3:

Welcome back. By the way it is lovely to hear your voice and see your face.

Speaker 4:

Look at Cousin Allie.

Speaker 9:

Are we allowed to Cousin Allie sir.

Speaker 10:

Are the teammates helping all in the game or no?

Speaker 3:

That's the final one that's a little bit later on, Allie favorite resort to stay at.

Speaker 9:

I'm a cheapskate and I feel like we spend a lot of money on these Run Disney Race weekends, so I am going to go with the All-Star Resort.

Speaker 4:

I feel like we have no money left. Good answer. Survey says star resort. That's a great. I feel like we have no money.

Speaker 3:

Good answer all right, great answer, like it survey says and we'll run for the board yes, oh, yeah good job great job team, great job team expected, but I. I figured we needed to start off with an easy one, so congratulations everybody.

Speaker 6:

This patriarch is real excited for us and our team.

Speaker 4:

Common mistake, common mistake.

Speaker 3:

All right, congratulations, family. We'll run for sweeping the board in round one. So after the first round, our score is we'll run for 65. Rise and run zero. But there's still plenty of game left to play. All right, let's go here with round two. Give me Alicia, give me Diana, let's go.

Speaker 6:

Let's go Diana. Let's go Diana.

Speaker 3:

All right, we surveyed 100 Run Disney runners. Name something unusual a runner might use to protect their medals when you travel home, alicia.

Speaker 5:

A hotel towel.

Speaker 3:

A hotel towel Survey says Ooh Diana. A hotel towel survey says oh Diana how about the race shirt? Race shirt. Good answer survey says it's the number five answer top top five answers on the board. So, but that was the last one there, so team we'll run for. Are you gonna play or are you gonna pass?

Speaker 5:

gonna play? Are we gonna pass?

Speaker 3:

could we?

Speaker 6:

steal hard, I think I got one answer, but I don't know after that yeah, I think we should pass all right, all right, so're going to pass.

Speaker 3:

So we're going to head over to the other side of the set to Team Rise and Run. So we're going to head over to John. John, again, we surveyed 100 Run Disney runners Name something unusual a runner might use to protect their medals when you travel home Socks, socks.

Speaker 5:

Socks Good answer.

Speaker 12:

Good answer.

Speaker 3:

Survey says Number one answer on the board 69 people said socks we're not used.

Speaker 8:

We're probably washed.

Speaker 6:

I thought of that too, because we watched someone with all their socks Undo all their medals Very long process, because they were perfect.

Speaker 7:

Yeah, it would take a while.

Speaker 3:

All right, we move over to Lexi. Lexi, still three answers left on the board. Something unusual. You might put a medal in.

Speaker 12:

Okay, steve, I'm going to go with underwear.

Speaker 7:

Underwear Good answer All right, pretty good, pretty good, good answer All right Survey says Nice, the number two answer on the board.

Speaker 3:

So we got two answers left. We move to the mandalorian herself. Jack, we got two answers left on the board. What do you think?

Speaker 11:

I'm gonna cry if it's wrong, but um shoes shoes survey says I thought that was a good answer.

Speaker 5:

I have so much on the Will Run For it podcast now that was a solid answer yeah, I disagree with that.

Speaker 9:

What about something they got on Etsy? No, no, it's not Will Runford's turn. It's not Will.

Speaker 3:

Runford's turn.

Speaker 9:

We get three. Yeah, you get three strikes. Oh sorry, that's all right, that's all right.

Speaker 3:

Pretend I didn't say that, guys, it's all right, we move over to Bob.

Speaker 4:

Bob, there's still two answers left on the board.

Speaker 3:

You only got one strike, something you get on etsy to put your medals in. Good answer all right survey says judges will allow this one. Uh, we had an alley. We had. We had six people say, a metal bag.

Speaker 7:

I was going there, I was really going to go metal bag or metal container.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, that makes sense that answer brought to you by our friends over at two park, princess oh yeah, that's what I had, and they just dropped their new container.

Speaker 11:

It looks amazing hashtag not sponsored okay I thought that, but I didn't think it was unusual.

Speaker 7:

Okay, fair enough.

Speaker 3:

All right, so one answer left on the board. We head to Alicia. Alicia name, something unusual a runner might use to protect their medals.

Speaker 12:

Three seconds. Pair of gloves. Pair of gloves.

Speaker 3:

Good answer. Good answer. Good answer, alicia.

Speaker 12:

All right, survey says that's okay, all right, two strikes on the board john.

Speaker 8:

Oh, thanks okay.

Speaker 5:

What do you think here?

Speaker 3:

Remember, if you got two strikes, one more strike we go over to, Will Run For with a chance to steal.

Speaker 11:

All the points.

Speaker 8:

Something unusual. You said right, yes, something unusual, I got to go with shorts.

Speaker 3:

You can go with shorts.

Speaker 12:

Good answer. Good answer, John.

Speaker 3:

All right. Survey says shorts on. Good answer. Good answer, John. Survey says shorts on the board. We go across the room. I got an answer.

Speaker 4:

I love it.

Speaker 6:

Jack's face is very expressive during this. He's trapping me.

Speaker 10:

He's killing me. What are you thinking, Tom I?

Speaker 6:

got an answer, but you can't just answer, can we talk it over?

Speaker 5:

We can talk this over. We have to talk it over for this deal.

Speaker 4:

Oh, well then, hey guys, yeah, what do you think about a popcorn bucket?

Speaker 9:

That's actually a good answer.

Speaker 5:

It's not a bad oh costume. I was even thinking like the snack box.

Speaker 10:

Oh.

Speaker 9:

I have nothing.

Speaker 10:

I don't know.

Speaker 3:

I don't know, Captain, my captain, I like this snack box Team run will run for. I need an answer.

Speaker 8:

All right I like that.

Speaker 9:

Yeah, I like that. Either I like, either.

Speaker 3:

Popcorn bucket Bob Popcorn bucket. All right If popcorn buckets on the board, you take the round. If not all the points go over to rise and run, he says popcorn bucket survey says and the points move over to rise and run and the points move over to Rise and Run. The number three answer on the board was a bra.

Speaker 9:

A bra.

Speaker 3:

Seven people voted bra.

Speaker 7:

That's a weird one that is a weird one.

Speaker 6:

I wouldn't have even thought to use my bra.

Speaker 12:

That is unusual. That is a weird one. I wouldn't have even thought to use my bra. I love how it was not even prompted for us all to repeat the answer.

Speaker 4:

I love it, that's my favorite part.

Speaker 9:

Also, a bunch of people did bring their medals home in the towels. They just didn't want to admit that they stole towels.

Speaker 7:

You stole the towels. Yeah, towels are a good answer.

Speaker 4:

Also unusual is not a metal holder.

Speaker 12:

That's true.

Speaker 10:

What if you stole the metal holder? Don't hate, the player hate the game you know what you know, what it's your world.

Speaker 3:

So Rising Run gets lucky with the big X from Team Will Run For no steal there. So after after two rounds, our score is team rise and run 89. Team will run for 65.

Speaker 6:

Let's move to our third question points available less points available.

Speaker 3:

So give me john, give me Aaron, let's do this. All right, top top seven answers on the board. We surveyed 100 run Disney runners. What area of Walt Disney World is your least favorite place to run through during a race? Erin?

Speaker 6:

Blizzard Beach.

Speaker 3:

Blizzard Beach Survey says that's the number three answer on the board. So John gets a chance here to see if he can get the number one or the number two answer.

Speaker 8:

Okay, that septic system area.

Speaker 3:

The septic system area. The septic system area Good answer Good answer. Survey says that's the number two answer.

Speaker 5:

Way to go, Aaron.

Speaker 8:

No pun intended right.

Speaker 7:

Yeah, no pun intended.

Speaker 4:

Very good, very good, put your loser hand down All right.

Speaker 3:

So Team Rise and Run, you have to make a decision here. Do you want to play or do you want to pass?

Speaker 12:

Let's play it, John. Sorry, can I ask one question? How many answers are on the board?

Speaker 3:

Seven, seven answers Seven Okay.

Speaker 9:

So, what do you guys want to do?

Speaker 8:

Let's play John. We hate running through.

Speaker 12:

Yeah, I think we should play.

Speaker 7:

That's my choice. Let's go.

Speaker 3:

John. Okay, all right. All right, team Rise and Run is going to play. All right, here we go. So we go down to Lexi. There's still five answers left on the board. Name an area of Walt Disney World that is your least favorite place to run through during a race. Okay, I am going gonna go with the road. The road. Good answer, good answer. Survey says that is the number one answer and our judges, uh, included highway ramps and overpasses.

Speaker 3:

Okay, very good very good, all right, so we now move down to Jack. Jack, there's still four answers left on the board. What are you thinking here?

Speaker 11:

I was really nervous about this one because I thought Lexi was going to take it, but she did Okay. So I think it's that little alley between what is it? Boardwalk and Studios. I don't know what that's called.

Speaker 1:

Okay, yeah, good answer, all right so the pathway between Boardwalk and Hollywood Studios.

Speaker 3:

Survey says that was the number four. Answer on the board.

Speaker 7:

Good answer, Jack.

Speaker 3:

Good answer All right, bob, we move back to you. Three answers left.

Speaker 7:

I know it was a good answer, because it was the one I was going to use, so I got to come up with another one. Golly, we've got. I'm just going to go with the boardwalk, the boardwalk.

Speaker 12:

It is dangerous. Good answer, good answer Bob.

Speaker 7:

It's not that good, All right.

Speaker 3:

The Boardwalk Survey says that's okay Bob. That's okay, all right, alicia.

Speaker 5:

It's Tom's least favorite, though, so you got to somebody's heart.

Speaker 7:

I have one vote. Okay, good, that's true.

Speaker 3:

Alicia, what do you say?

Speaker 5:

Can you repeat the question again?

Speaker 3:

alicia, what do you say? Can you repeat the question again? What area of walt disney world is your least favorite place to run through during a race? That underpass by the contemporary okay, the contemporary tunnel, okay, all right. Survey says All right.

Speaker 12:

Survey says oh, okay.

Speaker 3:

So we got two strikes, we moved to John. John remember we got two strikes here. So if you don't find an answer, things go over to team. We'll run for the potential steal. What do you say?

Speaker 8:

ESPN, espn. It's been a while.

Speaker 7:

It's been a while. Good answer.

Speaker 3:

Could be a good answer.

Speaker 13:

Survey says Really A lot on the board.

Speaker 3:

So we go over to Team Will Run For it.

Speaker 7:

Yeah, I think so too Cone Alley.

Speaker 5:

Cone.

Speaker 6:

Alley.

Speaker 3:

Not to elicit another game show. Is that your final answer?

Speaker 4:

Wait, wait, wait. What about Main Street? No, no, no, please do. I guess we're going with Cone Alley, bob, we're going with Cone.

Speaker 3:

Alley. All right, If it's on the board Team Will Run For. Gets the steal Cone Alley. Do you four? Gets the steel cone alley do you feel the suspense?

Speaker 6:

okay, yeah, right, it's killing me all right.

Speaker 3:

Survey says my hands are starting. It's on the board. The number six answer all right, all right. So congratulations team will run for getting the steal there on Cone Alley. But let's go back to the board and reveal our other two answers. The number five answer with seven votes was Backstage at Epcot.

Speaker 10:

What it can be. Dark, it's all dark.

Speaker 9:

It can be dark back there, very dangerous, and there's a couple speed bumps. I've seen a lot of people fall. Watch her fall, yeah, there.

Speaker 4:

Very dangerous.

Speaker 3:

And there's a couple speed bumps.

Speaker 4:

I've seen a lot of people fall. Watch her fall.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, it's very dangerous Well actually a lot of the comments were. Apparently a lot of them were by test track and there's a dumpster by the Mexico Pavilion.

Speaker 13:

Yes, that always smells really bad.

Speaker 11:

That was mentioned several times, but you all made a joke about this, but this actually cracked the top seven main street, usa, magic kingdom and cinderella's castle was number seven with five.

Speaker 6:

Wow, wow, michael, you joked, you joked, you could have stole it did steal it jack either way, I mean, it may have been Michael, though, that actually sent in that survey Because he is joyless.

Speaker 4:

And he's the one always stopping for selfies right in front of the movie theater.

Speaker 5:

Yes, all right, yes, yes.

Speaker 3:

All right. So at the end of round three we have Team Will Run For at 148 points. They're almost halfway there. Team Rise and Run at 89.

Speaker 12:

It's okay, we're good.

Speaker 3:

That's all right. So we go to question four. Give me Lexi, give me Michael, let's do this. Woo, all right, here we go. Did you do your virtual fist bump? Oh yeah, all right. All right, top six answers on the board. Points are doubled, so we hopefully get to 300. All right, points are doubled, so we hopefully get to 300. All right, here we go. What is your favorite food item or beverage to cross a finish line with or have at a post-race party? Michael?

Speaker 10:

Margarita.

Speaker 3:

Margarita, margarita Survey says the number two answer on the board. Lexi, you got a chance. To take control here.

Speaker 4:

I think it's hot coffee.

Speaker 9:

No, don't give him the answer, tom.

Speaker 4:

I'm sorry.

Speaker 12:

I am going to go with a beer.

Speaker 7:

Good answer. Good answer Good one.

Speaker 3:

Survey says number one answer, believe it or not, it snuck out Margarita by one vote.

Speaker 6:

Wow, I'm actually, I am surprised that beer because I feel like the. Margarita is like the, but maybe that's just my group of people. I don't know.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, all right, so now team rising.

Speaker 12:

Are we going to pass or are we going to play, play, play.

Speaker 7:

Yeah, I think we need to play. All right, we're need to play.

Speaker 12:

All right, we're gonna play steve. All right, we're gonna play how many answers are there there are six answers.

Speaker 3:

There are four answers left on the board, so we move over to jack jack. What is a person's favorite beverage or food item to cross a finish line with or have at the post-race party?

Speaker 11:

I'm going to say it in German Pretzel, so pretzel please.

Speaker 3:

A pretzel, all right.

Speaker 12:

Good answer, jack. Good answer, good answer.

Speaker 3:

Survey says number three answer on the board the Mickey pretzel got 10 votes.

Speaker 7:

Good job, all right we head back to Bob Bob.

Speaker 3:

Three answers left on the board. The Mickey pretzel got 10 votes, Good job, Alright, we head back to Bob Bob. Three answers left on the board here.

Speaker 7:

I'm going to go with popcorn.

Speaker 11:

Popcorn.

Speaker 3:

Alright.

Speaker 11:

Respectful.

Speaker 3:

Survey says oh no. Not on the board, alicia.

Speaker 14:

Nachos Nach Alicia Nachos.

Speaker 7:

Nachos Good answer.

Speaker 12:

I was thinking post-race, he said, or post-race.

Speaker 7:

Oh, there you go, yeah, there you go Good answer. All right Survey says there you go, all right the judges are going to allow this one.

Speaker 3:

The number four answer on the board was plastic cheese that was going to be.

Speaker 6:

My specific answer was the plastic cheese yes, I was gonna say so again, the impartial judge is going to allow this I don don't know if I feel like this is a partial judge that feels like a hard fudging on that one Home team judge is very specific.

Speaker 8:

Give it a rest, Alright.

Speaker 3:

John, two answers left on the board.

Speaker 8:

I'm going to go with the cider, the cider.

Speaker 3:

Good answer. Survey says on the board I'm gonna go with the cider, the cider.

Speaker 6:

Good answer yep, good answer all right survey says all right number six answer okay. I'm actually surprised that didn't get higher with beer margarita and people conflate it.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, yeah, yeah the uh the judging committee had to make an executive decision on whether or not cider also counted as a beer, but we decided there was enough people that specifically said the cider that it made its own answer.

Speaker 12:

All right. Well, someone who can't have beer, I don't consider them the same thing, because I can have cider.

Speaker 6:

Yeah, I don't consider them the same thing either.

Speaker 12:

Yeah, cider is better.

Speaker 6:

Especially the run Disney kind.

Speaker 3:

All right, lexi, don't consider them the same thing either. Yeah, cider is better, especially the run disney kind. All right, lexi. One answer left on the board and only one strike so far could you repeat the question please? Sure we surveyed 100 run disney runners. What is your favorite beverage or food item to cross the finish line with or have at the post race party?

Speaker 12:

I'm going to go with a Mickey premium bar a Mickey premium bar. Good answer, good answer.

Speaker 3:

Survey says oh all right, we're down to one last strike. Jack, what do you say?

Speaker 4:

Allie, remember you're on our team, I like forgetting.

Speaker 11:

I'll go flip with you guys.

Speaker 6:

I think Jack's reactions to everything might be my entire favorite part of this whole game.

Speaker 7:

Right.

Speaker 11:

I want to say churro, but then I want to say the champagne flute.

Speaker 8:

Why do you give out all the answers for them?

Speaker 4:

What else do you want to say? I can't do that.

Speaker 5:

Oh it's because of the steel, oh boss.

Speaker 4:

Let's workshop this, what else?

Speaker 5:

Come on, Jack.

Speaker 11:

Yeah, it's that one of them's wrong.

Speaker 9:

Jack, you're're having big feelings and we just want to help you. Let's talk you through I wouldn't be helped.

Speaker 11:

To be honest, um, you know, greg, I feel strongly about a churro churro.

Speaker 3:

All right, if ch Good answer, jack Good answer Rise and run sweeps. If not, will Run Fork get us a chance to steal? Is Churro on the board?

Speaker 10:

Survey says what's the number that's left?

Speaker 3:

Answer number five.

Speaker 10:

Number five. All right, what do you guys think about Banana? Well, I was thinking.

Speaker 9:

Banana oh, that's a good one. I also was thinking Dole.

Speaker 8:

Whip.

Speaker 4:

Is that crazy. I was thinking pizza cone, because Matt Trax is really fast.

Speaker 10:

One person, yeah, one person, at least the one person.

Speaker 9:

We know, at least one person. Banana's a good one too, because that's what I would do.

Speaker 10:

Because everybody gets, gets, you get handed the banana after the yeah, all right. As per usual, I disappeared mid podcast um, um did someone say cider? Yep, yeah, it's already gone. Already gone, it's obscure. Now we're down to obscure and then there's this.

Speaker 5:

Is it me stretching on the ground eating doritos. Were you? Were you here when?

Speaker 4:

the judge gave nachos when it was really the plastic cheese.

Speaker 6:

Yeah, plastic cheese and nachos are not the same thing.

Speaker 4:

Were you here during that part.

Speaker 5:

No.

Speaker 4:

Okay, well, that happened.

Speaker 2:

This is the Will Run. For family, not the bitter family.

Speaker 9:

Banana I would eat right after the race, but Dole Whip I would eat at the parks after for the party we have some healthy folks, don't we?

Speaker 10:

I feel like the banana you're getting.

Speaker 4:

Water or Gatorade. What else is in that box, oh?

Speaker 6:

the.

Speaker 4:

Powerade, oh yeah.

Speaker 10:

Water seems like a basic thing I'd say that's my favorite snack, though I went with my favorite. It's a favorite snack, though this is very tough. Yeah, I went with my it's a snack.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, favorite it's a favorite right yeah, okay, nobody likes water.

Speaker 6:

Yeah, nobody likes water or Powerade.

Speaker 8:

Aquaman does.

Speaker 4:

What else is in that bottle? What else is there? You know what? That champagne flute is actually not a bad idea.

Speaker 10:

I have't even know where it is.

Speaker 5:

I have no idea what you're even talking about.

Speaker 4:

Oh, I've gotten champagne yeah, it's right next to the cider.

Speaker 10:

Never seen it.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, it's right there, they have it.

Speaker 10:

Yeah, I've never, seen it.

Speaker 4:

If you ask me, it's either a champagne flute or pizza cone.

Speaker 5:

It's not pizza cone, it's not pizza cone.

Speaker 9:

Can we go with not pizza cone? Is that our answer?

Speaker 10:

It. It's not Pizza Cone. I don't care, pick one. I think it's Banana.

Speaker 4:

Cousin Allie, Cousin Allie take us home.

Speaker 5:

Oh, that's hard, and if it's wrong, we know you're a saboteur.

Speaker 9:

I think I'm going to go with Banana as well. Because that's what I want. Like after the races, I want a Banana.

Speaker 3:

All right. I'm sorry, if it's on the board we'll run for gets to steal. If not, the points go over to rise and run survey says this is so hard it's don't whip right

Speaker 7:

I thought I thought you had it with bananas.

Speaker 12:

Me too, I really did.

Speaker 9:

Greg, tell them I'm right.

Speaker 3:

No it's like Orr Post.

Speaker 9:

Race Party.

Speaker 3:

You guys brought it up at the last minute and you didn't stick with it. Powerade or Gatorade.

Speaker 7:

Okay.

Speaker 10:

Does anybody actually like Powerade?

Speaker 9:

No, Somebody's favorite though.

Speaker 3:

Eight people liked it enough.

Speaker 11:

I would have never got that.

Speaker 8:

They were probably wrapped in Coca-Cola.

Speaker 10:

I think those were Coke. They were Coke-bots.

Speaker 13:

Have you tried?

Speaker 9:

the pizza cone though.

Speaker 10:

Yeah, I did.

Speaker 6:

It is very good the one with pepperoni is delicious.

Speaker 4:

I actually had it before.

Speaker 6:

Tom wouldn't know because I had the pepperoni one. Honestly, Tom, it only had one little piece of pepperoni on it. It's fine.

Speaker 4:

Look, we can agree that you should have given me that, just the way that we can agree that plastic cheese and chips and nachos are two drastically different things.

Speaker 12:

I was picturing chips with cheese when I said nachos, so it's in my mind and what I got the point for.

Speaker 5:

It was right.

Speaker 6:

Disney plastic cheese, though, feels like it's very different than nachos.

Speaker 9:

It can never be nachos.

Speaker 12:

I think it depends on where you get the nachos.

Speaker 7:

I still think Cone Alley is a road.

Speaker 12:

That's fair.

Speaker 4:

Back to you, Bob.

Speaker 11:

I'm still trying to figure out where Cone Alley is. I know we talk about it all the time, but I can never remember. Oh, yeah.

Speaker 7:

Granville Radio.

Speaker 6:

It's right after you come out of Magic. Kingdom and you make that turn where it gets really narrow, was that Western Wire or something. Right before you get to Granville.

Speaker 10:

Okay, as you're going towards Granville. As you're going towards Granville.

Speaker 6:

And all the cones are on the road. And all the cones line and it gets really tight because, that's why everyone hates it, because all of a sudden it goes wide to narrow.

Speaker 8:

Then Bob's got to stand outside there and stop traffic.

Speaker 7:

That's a whole different story.

Speaker 3:

Alright, so at the end of four we're kicking our butt.

Speaker 6:

Round four scores Rise and Run's kicking our butt. End of round four.

Speaker 3:

The score is Rise and Run 223.

Speaker 8:

We'll run for 148, but that's okay

Speaker 3:

because our fifth and final question point, values are tripled. So here we go for the last round. Give me Jack, give me Cous, give me cousin ally.

Speaker 9:

let's do this all right, oh, I gotta get ready there, they already took care of the fist bump.

Speaker 3:

Ladies, hands on your buzzers again.

Speaker 11:

My heart is beating so fast.

Speaker 3:

Last round here. Top four answers on the board Top four answers Point values are tripled. What is one thing in the Run Disney snack box you cannot live without on race day? Cousin Allie.

Speaker 9:

Plastic cheese. Plastic cheese, that's not fair.

Speaker 10:

That was already mentioned.

Speaker 3:

Survey says Dang Number one. Answer 62 votes.

Speaker 9:

Nice, I'm done, allie, thanks I don't even eat the plastic cheese, and I know that's the right answer. I don't even take the box cheese, and I know that's the right answer.

Speaker 10:

I don't even take the box.

Speaker 6:

That is the right answer it annoys me that he doesn't take the box for me.

Speaker 9:

I don't either. I'll take one for you next time.

Speaker 3:

All right Team will run for it. Are you going to play or are you going to pass?

Speaker 5:

We have to play.

Speaker 10:

We definitely have so many right.

Speaker 3:

All right, we're going to head back over to Thomas. Three answers left on the board. Name one thing in the Run Disney snack box you cannot live without on race day.

Speaker 4:

I'm going to say fruit snacks.

Speaker 9:

Good answer.

Speaker 6:

Good answer, all right.

Speaker 3:

All right Survey says what?

Speaker 14:

What.

Speaker 3:

What Fruit snacks not on the top four answers.

Speaker 5:

Oh, all right All right, this is a hard one. Maybe this is harder than we thought. We move over to Diana. What about chips, chips.

Speaker 9:

That's a good one. Good answer Can't have nachos without chips?

Speaker 5:

Yep, what? Are you just going to eat the cheese with your finger? Are you an animal or pretzels.

Speaker 11:

They took it away for a little while.

Speaker 13:

Yeah, they did they did.

Speaker 11:

It didn't make any sense.

Speaker 3:

Disturbing All right. Chips Survey says the number two answer.

Speaker 6:

Nice, nice, nice.

Speaker 3:

Makes sense Over to the patriarchy there's two items left.

Speaker 6:

There's still an Oreo in it. I think they took the Oreos out years ago.

Speaker 13:

I've never seen a cookie in the box.

Speaker 10:

We don't get to discuss this one.

Speaker 13:

Sorry, cookie.

Speaker 6:

I can't remember what's in the box. Sorry, I'm talking out loud. What? What's in the box? There's like Sorry, I'm talking out loud, what else is in the box? Because they don't have pretzels in there anymore.

Speaker 4:

Aaron, come on, I can't think of what's in.

Speaker 6:

I know I'm trying. I can't think of what else is in this box because I only eat the chips and the cheese. Okay, I don't have anything to say though.

Speaker 4:

Oh, my God, I was thinking the fruit?

Speaker 6:

Well, I don't know that. There is a cookie in there anymore. There used to be a cookie you got to answer.

Speaker 5:

Oof Someone's got to cut them off because it can't be us. We obviously can't control them.

Speaker 6:

Yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 3:

Five seconds or you're getting a strike.

Speaker 5:

You have to say something, Erin.

Speaker 6:

Sunflower seeds. The answer the seeds that are in there.

Speaker 10:

Survey says I knew that was wrong, because I like those.

Speaker 6:

I'm like I can't think I only eat the chips and the cheese, so I don't actually know what else is in the box.

Speaker 4:

You're telling me fruit snack and sunflower seeds weren't in that springtime surprise box?

Speaker 10:

Yeah but they were Like.

Speaker 5:

I just know it wasn't. Yeah, people don't like them, they just throw it out.

Speaker 10:

I'm going to say pretzels, because they were in there for a bit.

Speaker 3:

Pretzels, all right.

Speaker 6:

They weren't in there more.

Speaker 3:

All right, so we got two strikes. Michael, your final answer is going to be pretzels, right?

Speaker 10:

Yeah, the hard pretzels the hard pretzels.

Speaker 3:

Okay, so if pretzels is on the board, we keep going. If not rise and run gets a chance to steal.

Speaker 4:

Come on, come on.

Speaker 3:

Pretzel survey says it's the waffle.

Speaker 8:

It's the waffle, the honey espadrille. Wow, all right, it's the waffle. It's the waffle, the honey stinger, the honey stinger waffle.

Speaker 9:

Wow, all right, it seems like that's in unison 100%.

Speaker 8:

Is that the final answer? Yes, only thing left in the box.

Speaker 7:

Greg. Well, there are peanut butter crackers, but, Greg, we're going with the honey stinger waffle Honey stinger waffles.

Speaker 3:

If honey stinger waffle is on the board, team Rise and Run goes on to play Fast Money. If not, I'm not exactly sure what we're going to do. Here we go. Honey Stinger Waffle survey says it's got it. I forgot that was in there. Honey Stinger Waffle the number four answer on the board. I was afraid what else was in there Hunting Stinger Waffle the number four answer on the board.

Speaker 8:

I was afraid you were going to say cookie and Greg was going to give it to you.

Speaker 9:

Yeah.

Speaker 3:

The number three answer and this probably would throw people off Banana. Because technically it's not in the box. Yes, Ali.

Speaker 9:

Banana.

Speaker 10:

I thought banana to myself, but I thought that's not in the box.

Speaker 6:

Yes, ali Banana, I thought banana to myself, but I thought that's not inside the box.

Speaker 9:

Yeah, but people are silly and they don't read the questions right sometimes and just answer what they want to.

Speaker 6:

Yeah, because it was the first thing I thought of outside, of the cheese and the pretzels or the chips.

Speaker 7:

That's because you were thinking outside of the box.

Speaker 6:

That's right.

Speaker 5:

Oh man.

Speaker 12:

I don't have my sound effect Greg I got it.

Speaker 10:

All right.

Speaker 3:

Congratulations, Team Rise and Run. You're going on to Fast Money We'll run for. You can't win them all. You win all the Peloton challenges, but you can't win this one. Thanks for playing. We have some lovely parting gifts for you. Backstage of absolutely nothing but friendship.

Speaker 13:

There you go, that's pretty valuable.

Speaker 8:

We'll take it.

Speaker 3:

Our next thing that needs to be decided here is who are our two people that are going to play Fast Money? I'm going to nominate.

Speaker 7:

And you guys? This isn't the final decision. I'm nominating John and Lexi. What do you guys think?

Speaker 11:

Yeah, don't pick me, I'm horrible.

Speaker 13:

I don't think I'm going to do that.

Speaker 7:

Are we okay?

Speaker 3:

I guess, we're up with it, Alright. Who's going to go first? John, go first.

Speaker 12:

I say John go first, lexi go second.

Speaker 3:

All right, all right. So, lexi, take off your headset, mute your microphone. We're going to play you off. John, come on up, let's get ready to play Fast Money, Because I mean, yes, this is the high pressure one. So, john, we're not going to have a timer, but I need you to be quick on these answers here.

Speaker 8:

Speaker 3:

Speaker 8:

I love that.

Speaker 3:

All right, Lexi. So what we're going to do is we're going to give you a little bit more time than we give John. If you repeat an answer that he says, we will play the.

Speaker 7:

Good answers, good answers you had almost all unique answers.

Speaker 5:

I was super impressed.

Speaker 12:

Except KT Tape I don't know where that came from.

Speaker 4:

That wasn't a good answer.

Speaker 6:

I thought you were just trying to think outside of the box of not the two most popular answers, with the race shirt and the medals.

Speaker 5:

I thought outside the box. That's where my brain went.

Speaker 3:

Lexi, I got some good news and I got some bad news.

Speaker 12:

Okay.

Speaker 3:

The bad news is you get zero points for KT Tape, and those points don't count. The good news is it doesn't matter. John already hit 200 points. So congratulations to you. Rise and run Way to go.

Speaker 12:

I'm glad you didn't tell me that beforehand, but at the same time I was under so much pressure. My heart rate is so high, that's good just to go over the number one answers.

Speaker 3:

Obviously, race medal was the number one answer. For most likely to wear around the park name a Disney mountain. The number one answer for most likely to wear around the park name a Disney mountain. The number one answer was Space Mountain. Favorite race weekend John already said it. Marathon weekend. Brand of running shoes number one answer was Brooks. And name a race distance the number one answer was half marathon. That John already said. So congratulations, team Rise and Run.

Speaker 10:

I think this was a ton of fun.

Speaker 3:

Way to go, I don't know. We lost.

Speaker 6:

I didn't have any fun. I feel like.

Speaker 9:

I won, no matter what team won, so it's really exciting for me.

Speaker 3:

This episode of Podcast Family Feud is brought to you by tostinos, because clearly tom's got an issue with tortilla chips being on this.

Speaker 4:

Uh, podcast definition of nachos when you hear this, listeners settle the bet is fake cheese and chips, the same as nachos. I'm plastic cheese, plastic cheese. I'm starting a campaign, but you know what? This was super fun. We love being here.

We're glad you're here, as we always are. Now we kind of did this once already, but I'm going to do it again. Anyway, let me tell you I'm Bob, I'm here with the Crickets and with Lexi. Hello With that, says Bob. Oh. With Greg Survey says With Jack Hiya, with John hey, how you doing With Alicia, with Jack Hi?

Speaker 9:

Hi family.

Speaker 7:

Oh gosh, it's great to see you. Allie, how have things been going for you?

Speaker 9:

It's been going great. I've been very, very busy with a lot of skating and coaching. I was out in California, I was just out in the Philadelphia area and I visited Greg when I was out there. I'm going to Las Vegas in about a month.

Speaker 7:

That's fantastic. Good for you, allie. Good for you. I'm glad that sounds great. But for tonight, we're glad you're back home Me too, with the family this week's episode. Well, you kind of figured out what's going on with most of this week's episode In the spotlight tonight. Jen and Emily, two sisters who ran the New York Roadrunners Brooklyn Half Marathon this weekend oh, let's forego the normal stuff gang. Hey, the Rise and Run podcast is sponsored by our friends at Magic Bound Travel.

Speaker 7:

My agent, missy, did me a solid this week and got Becky and I tickets for the Halloween version, the October 31st version of Mickey's Not so Scary Halloween Party. So we're going to be tired campers on the morning of the 5K. Yeah, but it's fun. And, my friends, it was so easy. I just sent Missy an email and then I didn't have to worry about anything. Didn't have to worry about getting up early or trying to get my own tickets and all that. She just sent me a note, said all right, you're in and I actually have my hard copy tickets already. So Magic Bound Travel magicboundtravelcom is the website. They're there to help you and remember, their services are free to you. Looking at our training schedule, as we always do, we are in week three of training for Disneyland Halloween. Speaking of Halloween, disneyland Halloween race, which of course is Labor Day, but that's okay. 15 weeks away, training week number three the long run this week is three miles. Guys, friends, gang, any training updates please?

Speaker 8:

I've been consistently training for the last three or four weeks and I've done a long run or semi run every weekend so far and it's been going really well, excellent, and I think it helped with, like we talked about last week, when I went to my PT, got some good exercises and uh working on strengthening my uh quads and hamstrings to help support my knees. And uh, last week I last Saturday, or, sorry, last Sunday I uh last week I last Saturday, sorry last Sunday I when I did my my my run, I negative splitted every every what do you call it? Interval. So I'm kind of happy with it so far.

Speaker 7:

It's like running downhill, John. As fast as you go along.

Speaker 3:

John, did you pull the trigger yet on bird in hand?

Speaker 8:

I, um, I will be pulling it soon. I go to the doctor in july and I will make sure everything is still good.

Speaker 7:

Good deal, good deal, that's great news. Uh, let's see, lexi, what you got well, um, I mentioned the last.

Speaker 12:

Uh, it wasn't last week, it was week before last. I got my treadmill and I'm really enjoying it so far. I did my longest run since Disneyland on Saturday before last and it was slow but it was fun.

Speaker 7:

The forwards of pace, you know.

Speaker 12:

Exactly, yeah, I did two miles. And then I was like you know, exactly, yeah, I did two miles. And then I was like you know what I want to do more.

Speaker 5:

So I did more Good for you.

Speaker 12:

So that was a lot of fun and something I mean. Not good, but I went to the doctor last week and basically got told that I need to lose weight or risk some health stuff happening. So, through talking to a bunch of people that know me and talking to you guys, my boyfriend, kevin, actually came up with a really good idea of creating a chat within the Rise and Run Facebook page. We have a weight loss accountability chat that we just started a few days ago and it doesn't matter if you need to lose five pounds or if you want to lose 50 pounds, you can come, and we're having a challenge right now of getting 8,000 steps a day. We've been checking in with each other about foods. We talked about thyroid issues for a while. It's just been really good and really encouraging and nice to have that accountability side for me, especially, especially of just someone that I can message and be like hey, I'm struggling. Right now I really want French fries and you know, it's just.

Speaker 7:

I think it's going to be, and then they go get you French fries.

Speaker 12:

No, not that kind of accountability. Okay, all right?

Speaker 7:

No, I, you know, know, you know me. You put the ball on the tee, I gotta hit it. But, um, I think it's a wonderful idea. I think it's fantastic the chats in general have been tremendous but I think this is a great idea. I, I mean, I don't I'm not gonna say I struggle with my weight, but I can be like any other human being. It's easy to gain weight and, uh, I know when you've, when you're putting down on paper or when you're reporting or telling somebody else, that accountability that really helps.

Speaker 12:

Yeah, yeah, absolutely. And I I'll be honest, I was actually messaging Greg before I created the group and I was so nervous, Not just like part of me in my brain was like nobody's going to join this thing, Like it's just going to be me in there by myself which was not realistic.

Speaker 12:

But also like that's just that's a lot of of accountability and it was kind of scary of like if I start this group, like I'm gonna have to stick to it that's right that there's the accountability. That's the big part, yeah, so um it's been really good and I mean it may get annoying if I message every single day when I say that I'm going to walk the parking garage, but I'm going to send a parking garage picture with me giving a thumbs up.

Speaker 7:

I think it makes a difference. I think I think that makes a difference.

Speaker 12:

Yeah.

Speaker 7:

That, that that we keep using the word accountability, but that promise to yourself that you're going to do that, uh, and then and then having a place to put it and others will see it, it's a big deal and I think it's a great idea and I think it's fantastic. I wish all the but you told me that too. Oh gee, I don't think anybody. I went, oh no, I know this family and I know this family will jump in and you will not be alone and of course, you're not.

Speaker 12:

Yeah, we have 61 people in there right now.

Speaker 7:

That's great. That's great Just in general. The chats we typically have a chat for every Disney race weekend. We have one for all the majors and then we have one as on request, like I'm pretty sure there's one for bird in hand uh, probably Marine Corps, any of the big events. Anytime I see I look at the race report and I see eight or 10 folks at a race, I will offer up a chat and they've been a lot of fun. We use them for everything from stuff like what Lexi's doing here to just getting in touch with one another. A Space Coast is a good example. We'll have maybe 15 or 20 people out there in Cocoa Beach area and we can let one another know where we are and where we're going to be when, and meet up and they're. They've been terrific and again it's the family that makes them go. So really appreciate that.

Speaker 12:

Like say that's cool yeah, and I mean I don't know if it's directly related to the chat, but I am down a pound and a half this week pound and a pound and a half a week is excellent.

Speaker 7:

That if you can maintain that, that's fantastic. Good for you all, right? Uh jack, did you have something you wanted to toss in on this training discussion?

Speaker 11:

yeah. So I've been having a really hard time trying to get up in the morning because I work from nine to six at the production accounting job and then I work right when I get home at my other job where I help with eviction relief as a compliance manager. So there's not much in between time, especially Monday through Fridays. And this past week I officially have my running schedule now and so trying to marry the running schedule with the workout schedule has been interesting. And David knows I've been struggling and I asked if he would want to go on my four-mile walk. It's a progressive walk on Thursday and I have it scheduled for every Thursday until the race day for the 100 miler. And I say I'm not going to be able to do it if it's by myself I can't get up for that and I'm going to have a hard time. And so I said would you do it with me? And it was kind of jokingly. But in the morning there was an alarm, a special alarm made for me, that says Jack, get up Jack get up.

Speaker 11:

And then he gets my arm and then he starts shaking mine. He's like, are you getting up? And then, all of a sudden, the theme song from Merida, from Brave, starts going I love that for the alarm and it just got louder and I said, okay, I'm up, but are you, babe, are you sure we could do it after work? I guess I'm, maybe, I don't know, I'm gonna be, like no, we're getting up now.

Speaker 11:

I said, oh okay, and I tell you what that was the best part of my day, um Thursday, doing that four mile progressive walk and we increased the speed every mile and it was really good. And you know what? We don't get to see each other too much because our schedules don't always match, so we're actually going to make it a Thursday thing until it gets cold.

Speaker 7:

Well, awesome.

Speaker 12:

That's great.

Speaker 7:

That's fantastic, jack. You're back with customized training right.

Speaker 11:

Yes, I have customized training. I run like three or four days a week plus the walk, and then I have weightlifting with Tom.

Speaker 7:

Muscles by Tom.

Speaker 11:

Yeah.

Speaker 7:

Yeah, good stuff. Yeah, you know a bunch of friends I've noticed have signed up for customized. That's really cool, and I saw a bunch of them at the Zoom this morning, so that's nice. It's always nice to see that kind of reaction. That's great.

Speaker 11:

Good stuff, I'll get you to the finish line.

Speaker 7:

There you go. Good stuff. That all sounds very positive. Announcements on this abbreviated part of the podcast. I mentioned last week that our friends at Zippity Tees had a discount code for us. They're here to tell you about it. Friends, when you were with us last week, you probably remember teasing a discount code for material from Zippity Tees. Well, I could tell you more about it, but I got a better idea. Let's let Zippity Tees themselves, devin and Carrie, tell you all about it. Hi, ladies, great to see you.

Speaker 13:

Hello Hi welcome.

Speaker 7:

Well, listen, tell our friends about your new line of zippity t-shirts and, if you feel like it, tell them about that discount code you have for them too sure?

Speaker 13:

well, we have our new run, disney inspired line part one, dropping this th, or I guess, when you're listening to, this podcast.

Speaker 7:

That's release day, yeah.

Speaker 13:

At 8 pm EST. It is probably one of the biggest drops we will be doing New collection and then previous Run Disney collections. We've done so. Jump on at 8 pm EST with the code RISEANDRUN in all caps at checkout for 10% off your entire order.

Speaker 7:

Thank you for that, by the way, On behalf of the family. Thank you for that. Now, Carrie, you've already released some new t-shirts, haven't you?

Speaker 1:

Yes, I mean we've been doing some Run Disney here and there for the last couple years, but I think we got pretty inspired with the new theme for next January, so we got a little carried away. Like Devin said, this is part one. We already have some other stuff that we're working on, so part two is to be determined when. Yeah, we're still working on some other stuff too, so when that comes closer, we'll have that too neat, I was gonna say day of recording.

Speaker 3:

I saw the, the new video you both put out, because you know everyone is going gangbusters over the dopey shirt and like everyone's like where's goofy, where's goofy, and so I'm glad to see that the air has been cleared and a goofy shirt um will be coming, so that's awesome, ladies.

Speaker 3:

As always, your designs look incredible, uh. My question for you, uh, about this drop is I noticed over the weekend you had a brand new model for the first time ever in zippity t's history. My question for you is what kind of rider does this guy have? I mean, what does he require in his dressing room?

Speaker 13:

I think we were just simply asked to hold his sunglasses, almost hold my beer. You know we were near Germany, so taking the photos, no thank. We're just so thankful that Bob was able to help us that day. It was a hot day. He took the pictures standing out in the sun by the topiaries. He was fantastic. He has such a good energy and I think that's why a lot of people resonated with our post and they love to see Bob. I mean, who doesn't? So?

Speaker 13:

whether it's out on the course, or in the parks or now modeling for us. I think it was just a great opportunity, so thanks, bob.

Speaker 7:

Oh, golly you kidding. Thank you, Number one. It was my honor and privilege, and when a 70 year old man gets asked by two beautiful young ladies to model for them, I'm surprised my hat still fits. My head is swollen so much. So it was absolutely my pleasure and a whole lot of fun.

Speaker 3:

So now, ladies, when it comes to the actual ordering, you know, when you have the drop on Thursday. Obviously the two of you have a massive Instagram presence. What is the process like? Will there be like a link in like your stories or like in the bio of your Instagram page? In like your stories or like in the bio of your Instagram page? What's going to be the process there in terms of the easiest way to order when all this stuff drops here on Thursday?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, we have our website link in our Instagram bio. You could also find us. It's just our name ZippityTeascom. But right at 8 pm is when our site will open. You can, you know, get on the site a little bit early, hit that refresh right at 8 pm and then should just take you right to the site. We have on our homepage just a little highlight of a couple designs, but if you want to see the whole thing, just click shop and then all of our designs will pop up.

Speaker 13:

Yeah, and we usually do like a countdown in our stories, we'll do sizing. There's so much dropping, so there's just going to be a lot of different questions that I think people will have. So we'll address all of that and then, well, the next couple of days, obviously this will be like Tuesday and Wednesday, but yeah, we actually have a few more that we haven't shared yet.

Speaker 7:

Okay, as of right now. It was tough keeping this one secret, but I I did a good job you did great oh gosh, ladies, it's, it's great stuff. High quality material. The designs are fantastic. They always have been. I've been a big fan. We. We've been big fans for the last couple years.

Speaker 3:

Oh is that my uh, my uh, hi dad soup shirt. I don't know how many years ago I bought that and that thing is still pristine as if the day I bought it. So whatever company you use for your shirts, it's awesome and they do an awesome job printing.

Speaker 13:

Aw, thank you, that's one of our favorites. I think I love that one.

Speaker 7:

Yeah.

Speaker 13:

And not to be well, you guys will see this, but we do have a Powerline one too you guys will see this, but we do have a power line one too.

Speaker 3:

You know, devin, I I would always message you about how much my wife is purchasing from the two of you. Now you're gonna sucker me down the rabbit hole too. This is not good.

Speaker 13:

This is not good for my bank account you might have been in the back of our minds for that one a little bit.

Speaker 7:

Oh boy, well, good stuff. Once again. Thank you for the code for our friends. Rise and run all caps when you order. Take a look on the zippityteescom website and check it out. Devin carrie, thanks for joining us. We look forward to seeing you again soon thanks so much thanks so much well, ladies.

Speaker 3:

Thanks so much for joining us. You continue to amaze not only us but the entire run disney community with your designs and I gotta say, day of recording is when the post dropped of their new power line shirt and I can guarantee you one of those will be in my cart on day of release. I'm very, very excited. They did an amazing job, and anything that they do just makes me smile. So congratulations, ladies, and we hope you have a wonderful and successful drop.

Speaker 7:

Yeah, we sure do. Hey, Greg, you know that release time coincides and I'll mention this again at the end of the episode with our Zoom call. Oh yes, our Zoom call, oh yes, our Zoom call is 8 o'clock Thursday night. That's the time of their release. We can share the screen and watch each other. There we go. Good stuff, dev and Kerry thanks a lot. Thanks for it and, on behalf of our friends, thanks for the discount code. We appreciate that I'm not a real update on 101 Dalmatians, but we'll have something for you very soon. Look for a mock-up of the shirt design shortly, shortly. I've seen them. They look great. We're going to have the sign-up sheet up early in the month of June. Lexi was talking earlier about chats. I looked and in the 101 Dalmatians chat we have 601 members. So if a good chunk of those Lexi looked this up. The largest group of people, lexi, what was it? The largest group of people, lexi? What was it? The largest group of people running?

Speaker 12:

No, it was the largest group of people dressed as dogs.

Speaker 7:

Yeah, was 439. And we got 600 plus in the group. Oh, I don't know, I'm just tossing that out there. Let's see what we can do coming up next week. This is one you're going to want to hear. Our friend Fitz Kohler is back. Fitz is a blast. She does so many fun and interesting things in her life and she's just a fun person to talk with. So we're looking forward to that. Episode 141. We need your help. It's been a long time since we've done an Ask Us Anything episode, so look for some. Look for an opportunity to send us some questions for episode 141 on Ask Us Anything. All right, my friends, it's time for the Race Report.

Speaker 8:

The Race Report is sponsored by Stoke Metabolic Training. You can sign up for a Stoke Metabolic Training at stokesfit slash riseandruncoaching and you'll get a discount there.

Speaker 7:

Yeah, that link is in our show notes and it is at the featured section at the top of the Facebook group page.

Speaker 8:

And there's also a link on our website.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, thanks, john. Hey, I know this is only an audio-only podcast, but, Jack, can you give us two tickets to the gun show real quick?

Speaker 7:

Jack is happy.

Speaker 3:

And speaking of the gun show, I know she's not working with Tom, but Allie oh my gosh. Allie's rocking Sons Out Guns Out right now and she's going to the gun show as well.

Speaker 9:

Well, you know, I feel like we should start a side group chat of people who want to put on weight, you know.

Speaker 7:

Yeah, well, it's an entirely different thing. Yeah, that's it, you're right. All right, my friends, let's get to the race report. Another big weekend of races. What's happening is temperatures are warming up, throughout the US at least, and so more and more races are occurring further and further north. They're starting to slow down down in the southern states, but it's a big race weekend, so we had to abbreviate some of the reports. But here we go. So let's start out on Saturday in New York City for the New York Roadrunners Brooklyn Half Marathon, and we are delighted and honored to have our race report spotlight guest with us this evening. Emily and Jen. Welcome to the Rise and Run podcast, ladies.

Speaker 2:

Hi, thank you for having us.

Speaker 7:

Oh, we're glad you're here. I was chatting before we got online that I've had you two. I'm not sure what happened. I don't know if it was Emily or Jennifer, I can't remember that. I wanted to get in touch with for a race report about a month ago, couldn't? And then noticed that you two were running. Oh, by the way, friends who don't know Emily and Jennifer know each other very well. How do you know each other, ladies?

Speaker 2:

Well, we've known each other for 38 years. Yeah, about 38 years.

Speaker 14:

She's known me since the day I was born.

Speaker 7:

Yes, who is the older sibling here?

Speaker 2:

I'm the older sister.

Speaker 7:

Jennifer, you're the older sister. Emily. You got any other brothers or sisters?

Speaker 14:

Nope, just the two of us.

Speaker 7:

Oh great, but Emily and Jennifer are sisters. We're glad they're here, and so I've had them on a list for this race for a while, so we're glad they made it. Hey, let's start with what I always start with. How did you get started running, and, jennifer, I'll let you go first, please.

Speaker 2:

Sure. So through middle school, high school, I played sports. I played field hockey, tennis, you know, did all the conditioning for those sports, but didn't really take a running until 2013 when a student of mine was having a charity run to raise awareness for research about a rare genetic condition that she has. So I trained for my first 5k, loved it, and then, by 2014, got really hooked on running like five milers, 5k's, 10k's. And then 2019, a friend of mine said hey, you should sign up for a half marathon, you can totally do it at this point. And so in 2019, I ran my first half marathon in Brooklyn.

Speaker 7:

Cool, cool, this same race right.

Speaker 2:

Same race.

Speaker 7:

Yeah, yeah, emily. How about you?

Speaker 14:

Similar. We were, I think, conditioned to do some sports as extracurriculars. Growing up, my sport of choice was soccer, which includes quite a bit of running my sport of choice was soccer, which includes quite a bit of running.

Speaker 14:

Yeah, a little bit yeah. So I played that probably from the age of eight through high school and then as part of that in high school we did a lot of like extra running and I realized like, oh, running by itself is kind of a pain in the butt. But then when I went to college it was like what I did because it was a time for me to be my by myself and kind of think you know like process the day, and so that's kind of. I kind of ran on and off. Ever since then did a couple random races. I don't think I ever trained for them in the way that I do now.

Speaker 14:

It was just like oh, I'm a runner Like I was like oh, I run, like I could do a 5k, I can do a 10k, Um, but I don't think I really started thinking about like racing or like participating in recent races until 2019. Um, I happened to be in Miami at the time. That's where I was living. Um saw a race being advertised that was at a speedway and there was craft beer at the end. I was like, well, this looks like a fun thing to do on a Saturday evening, so signed up for that. Had been running a little bit. I ended up coming in third place in my age group and I was like whoa, that's an incredible feeling it was a small race because it had been raining.

Speaker 14:

That feeling, um, it was a small race cause it had been raining, um. And so then I was like, oh, this is kind of fun. Well, covid happened shortly after that, um. But then, uh, I started participating in a run club. Um, that was free, cause I like things that are free.

Speaker 2:

Um, although, that doesn't account for my run Disney obsession.

Speaker 14:

Um started that and just kind of like an accountability right, Like just being around people. And one day some other member asked me he's like, do you race at all? And I was like no, I just kind of run for fun. I don't you know, I'm not really good enough to race and like, do that kind of thing. And he's like, no, you should, I'm not really good enough to race. And like, do that kind of thing. And he's like no, you should. And it happened around the time that I think Princess 2021. No, I'm sorry, Princess 2022 had been open and I happened to catch it on a day that the 10K opened back up and I was like I would love to do a Ren Disney race. And so then from then on out, I've been racing all sorts of 5Ks, 10Ks, half marathons, and I've got my first coming up in January.

Speaker 7:

Awesome, awesome. Now, you two do not live close to one another, do you?

Speaker 14:

Not anymore.

Speaker 7:

Jen, where do you live? Well, yeah, for a while, yeah.

Speaker 2:

I lived in New York City for 16 years. Last June I just moved across the river to Edgewater, new Jersey, which is in North Jersey.

Speaker 7:

John, near you yeah it's close.

Speaker 8:

It's about 20 minutes away 25.

Speaker 7:

Emily you're still in the city.

Speaker 14:

I am in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Speaker 7:

Oh, yes, yes, yes, of course, yeah, baton Rouge, baton Rouge.

Speaker 14:

Louisiana. Oh, yes, yes, yes, of course. Yeah, baton Rouge, baton.

Speaker 7:

Rouge, right, red Stick, louisiana yeah.

Speaker 14:

Yep Red Stick.

Speaker 7:

Yeah, yeah, okay, but you make the trip. You both make the trip back to the city. Long trip for you, emily. Yep, have you had a chance before this to run together, or was this the first time?

Speaker 10:

Our first run together.

Speaker 2:

I think was Wine and Dine. Yeah, I think it was Run Disney. Yeah, you got me into that because I was also affected by COVID. So 2020 was the year I signed up for all of the New York Roadrunners races. I got back into the Brooklyn half, I signed up for like all the 10Ks, 5ks, and then everything was canceled, so it kind of took a break from running at that point and then Em had started doing all the run Disney races so I thought, shoot, well, I should sign up for one too. And yeah, wine and Dine 10K 2022 is fantastic.

Speaker 7:

Neat. All right, let's talk this one, Emily. I'll let you start. How was it? All right, let's talk this one, Emily. I'll let you start. How was it? Let's start from the beginning. How was the race?

Speaker 14:

It was amazing. I mean that's like TLDR amazing, mostly because the weather was super great. We had been watching the weather for the past two weeks and it looked like it could be raining. It could be cooler, you know, um, but day of no rain in the forecast. Uh, looking like, you know, high fifties, low sixties in the morning for the race, um, and it was pretty cloudy at the start and then I think the sun came out a little bit later, um, but for me, coming from you know, really, hot Louisiana.

Speaker 9:

I'm like this is great.

Speaker 14:

Yeah, the humidity was low, so the weather alone, I think, accounted for a lot of my joy with it, but the race course support was absolutely stellar. When my watch went off that I had finished a mile, I was like there's no way that was a mile.

Speaker 7:

That's good.

Speaker 14:

So, yeah, it just kind of kept me going. There were lots of signs to look at, lots of people shouting. There were so many dogs too that I've never seen so many dogs on a course and as a dog lover, it took a lot to not go pet all of them.

Speaker 7:

Jennifer, how about you? Weren't you telling me that this is the biggest half in the country?

Speaker 2:

It is. It's the biggest half of the country 28,000 runners ran it this year. So we were definitely a little nervous about how we would get there, to make sure we got there on time. Luckily, everything was great. I mean, nework roadrunners is an amazing organization everything is so um, well thought out.

Speaker 2:

They have an amazing company of volunteers, um, very organized in terms of, like, getting into your corral doing bag check and all of that. Um, I feel like I was spoiled by new york roadrunners and then got to run disney like, oh okay, this is another amazing organization puts on super cool races. But yeah, we were definitely a little concerned about the weather because it has been hit or miss the last couple of years. It has been either downpour or super hot and humid, which can make it really tricky when you're doing the latter half of that marathon, because it's on Ocean Parkway, which is so much fun to run, but there is no shade. So if the humidity is really high, if it gets really hot, it can be, um, a really tough spot to get to the finish.

Speaker 2:

Um, but I had a great time doing my second half. I mean, I think I knew a lot of the things to look out for, like going through prospect park. I wanted to make sure that I really paced myself. I know Emily was super afraid of, like what the hell situation was going to be.

Speaker 2:

I was, she was totally fine. And then making sure that you have enough energy to get through, like all of the alphabetical avenues leading up to the boardwalk.

Speaker 7:

Okay, I didn't ask if you actually ran the event together.

Speaker 14:

We didn't Because she's super fast. I was after a proof of time and set a PR for myself. Awesome, so I'm excited yeah you should be 10 minutes under my last PR and then under sub two which is my goal Rock solid Excellent.

Speaker 14:

Yeah, so we didn't get to like spend time in the corrals together, cause we were in separate corrals but we were in the same wave. Um, there are two waves, um, we were both in wave two, um, so we did. We had the eight o'clock quote unquote start time. I think I crossed the start of eight 10. You were at what like eight 30.

Speaker 2:

It was like eight 30, a little bit after like eight 35, eight 40.

Speaker 10:

Yeah.

Speaker 14:

But I went back to um the finish to cheer her on, joined our parents who had come up um to cheer us on as well, um, so that was really fun to see her come through.

Speaker 2:

Well, didn't you say when you were coming out of Prospect, you saw me on the course, or like going into Prospect.

Speaker 14:

I did. You were coming in, I was coming out. I waved. I didn't want to scare anyone around me.

Speaker 7:

Oh, wonderful, wonderful. All right, tell our friends why they should come to New York and participate in the New York Roadrunners Brooklyn Half.

Speaker 2:

I think Em said it best. I mean, there is nothing like a New York City crowd, especially for this race. You have people along the entire way. You've got the dogs, you've got the kids, you have amazing signs. You have people shouting out at you to keep going. You have people shouting out at you to keep going. It's just the energy that you feel, especially on the boardwalk, with the amusement park rides, everyone cheering. There's no other feeling like it.

Speaker 8:

Cool. Okay, so you said amusement park rides. Do the people ride the?

Speaker 2:

cyclone. So we did not ride the cyclone, but the first time I ran the half I chinged up my father rode the cyclone in honor of the race. He did ask me, when I caught up to them, if I wanted to do it right then, and I was like, not right now, we should have done the wonder wheel, though.

Speaker 14:

We should we got a picture, so that's almost awesome Sounds like you just had a great time ladies.

Speaker 7:

so that's almost good. Awesome Sounds like you just had a great time. Ladies, that's really cool. All right, before we let you go, what's on the docket, what's coming up next and when are we going to see you at Disney? Emily, you start please.

Speaker 14:

Well, I think the answer is the same for both of us.

Speaker 9:

Okay, that is.

Speaker 14:

All right, the next race up for us is wine and dine. Um, it is my second time doing the challenge, but it'll be jen's first time, um, and we will run it together. Um, I've already made that promise that I'm not gonna go sprint off and, uh, we're working on some cool costumes there you go, that's, that's great.

Speaker 2:

To be determined.

Speaker 7:

That's awesome. So that answers both questions. That's wonderful. I look forward to seeing you there. It's a great event. I love that weekend. It's one of my four favorite Run Disney race weekends. It really is. It's in the top five. Emily, Jennifer, thank you so much for joining us. We really appreciated it. It sounds like you had a wonderful time and we'll see you later.

Speaker 14:

Thank you for having us. Thank you.

Speaker 7:

Oh, that's great. We had a couple other friends at this event. Our buddy, doug, who lives right there, set a course PR, finished this thing in less than an hour 15, 50, one hour 50 minutes His second fastest half ever. This is Doug's favorite race on the calendar because start so close to his home. Great job, doug. Kate, kate ran this one at a party pace, ran the last eight miles with two friends that she hadn't seen in a while, had a lot of fun with her friends, a lot of fun with the spectators, loved this. One Would definitely do it again. And our friend Gretchen was also there.

Speaker 7:

Moving a bit further north to the Twin Cities in Minnesota, the women run the city's 10 miler. It was warm in Minnesota. If it's warm where you are, if you think it's warm, it's warm, I don't care what the temperatures are. It was warm in Minnesota this weekend. Melissa was there, knew it was going to be tough. She'd been sick all week and then the temps and the humidity went up. The course was hilly but she stuck to it, grounded out, and now she's sure the marathon will be magical, no matter what corral she's assigned to. She was close on her proof of time here. So I in fact, melissa, you were so close I think you might want to submit the one that you got. She did a good job on this, finished in less than 11 minutes per mile. So that was a good pace on the marathon. On the half marathon, our friend Pamela was there. Pamela ran the 5K and set a 5K PR. Jessica ran the 10K, did it with her sister-in-law. Jessica ran the 10K, did it with her sister-in-law. So that's Twin Cities in Minnesota, on a warm day In Maryland, st Michael's, maryland, the St Michael's Running Festival Half Marathon.

Speaker 7:

Megan made a six-hour drive down from Long Island to run with some friends, old and new. For some of her friends this was their first race ever taking on a half as their first race. Megan finished this one with her second best half marathon time. That's great. Carrie and Catherine ran this one together. It was a rainy day apparently. They had the shuttle from parking to the start area and they had and I quote, the most pleasant Corral P we've ever experienced, which was a nice surprise. Oh, that's great. I'm glad to hear that Overall good race despite the weather. They want to thank the many volunteers and their fellow runners. Now Catherine ran a new PR and now they're training for her first marathon in September.

Speaker 3:

Also, I think at this race we also had our buddy, tara and sporting a Rise and Run shirt, and I know she had commented to me. We were texting over the weekend about how it was a wet one. And then also our opponents tonight on Family Feud. Tom and Diana were also at that event and looking at their photos it looked like quite the soggy event. But congratulations everybody.

Speaker 7:

Yeah, good stuff that's in their backyard for Tara and Tom and Diana, so excellent. Glad everybody had a good time. South of here in the Florida Keys, the Keys 100. I do not understand this event, my friends. Oh, I mean, I understand it. It's 100 miles, I get it and it goes through the bridges and through the islands in the Florida Keys but the temperatures are unbelievable. I'm several hundred miles north and I'm telling you, Saturday was the hottest day we've had here so far this year and yet some of our friends took on and conquered the Keys 100. Now none of them have submitted a report yet. I do not blame you, I'm, you know. Congratulations if you're upright and walking and breathing. But I want to point out that Dean and Tommy finished the 100 milers and Jacqueline did the 50 miler. Congratulations, what a grueling effort. We're proud of you.

Speaker 3:

In Boise, idaho, we had the famous Idaho Potato Marathon. Our buddy, allie, with out an E, and her friend Rosie were there. She ran this race with Rosie and this actually was Rosie's first half marathon, so we know what that means. Allie with Allie goes on to say that the course and the weather were perfect for a great event, and what I love and I'm so glad she posted the pictures of this the race ends at Boise State University on what is the famous Smurf turf, the blue Astro turf. What a great place to end a half marathon. They got a big potato at the end and I also love that they wore some tank tops that had potato land from that Mickey shorts that you can go see over in Hollywood Studios. I thought that was absolutely brilliant. But, ladies, congratulations on a awesome race.

Speaker 7:

Yeah, they did look good. I like those shirts. From Idaho to Iowa In Marion, iowa, the Marion Arts Festival Half Marathon. Allison was there. Allison commented this was hot. We're going to hear that a lot in the upcoming races as we travel throughout the country and throughout the rest of the world. It's getting hot. This race ends downtown at an art festival Also happening during the weekend, a local kite festival, which made it kind of fun because towards the end they got to see the kites going up and then they actually ran past them and ran next to them as they finished. Way to go, allison. In Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, the Spartan Tampa Stadion. Julie finished this one. Haven't heard from Julie yet, but if she gives us a report we'll talk about it again next week.

Speaker 3:

In Denver, colorado, it was the Denver Colfax Marathon weekend. Our buddy Alexis did what is called the two-day mile high challenge. So this is the 5K and then the Urban 10-Miler. She goes on to say that the 5K went really well. It was her second fastest 5K and her first 10-Miler race. So again we know what that means. She said the Urban 10-Miler did not go as well. The heat again the theme of the weekend really took a toll on her. But she finished and she's proud of herself and her son and she loves running in Mile High. But we will hear a lot more about this event once we get to Sunday.

Speaker 7:

Yeah, this one finishes in the stadium there at Mile High. Greg. Hey, you guys know who the race announcer was for this one First time ever him there at mile high, greg. Hey, you guys know who the race announcer was for this one first time ever first time ever, a certain champion britney charbonneau was the race announcer.

Speaker 3:

We'll talk about that again in a couple minutes you want to know how, how she got the gig. Apparently, if I, if I was, if I was reading this correctly, pelky is on the dvc member cruise that's over in like barcelona right now, so obviously I guess he's doing some work over there, some end scene or whatever. So obviously he wasn't able to do this. So Brittany got the gig. So I mean, I'm counting down the days now until we got Brittany Charbonneau up on stage with Pelkey and Carissa, and Riley and.

Speaker 3:

Tracy, so watch out folks.

Speaker 7:

John's afraid she's going to replace us all one of these days. Brittany, don't start your own podcast.

Speaker 3:

Okay, don't do that. We'll tell her that in a few weeks when we have it.

Speaker 7:

Yeah, friends, brittany will be with us next month. We look forward to that. Let's see here when am I? Okay, I'm still in Florida, good enough, but the Lilac Time Mutt Strut 5K and One Mile Puppy Path Run was in Lombard, illinois, and Vicki was there.

Speaker 8:

In Fort Smith, arkansas, the Heightfoot 5K. Our buddy Joe ran that one. The three amigos were there. They finished first, second and third and got coins instead of medals. But our buddy Joe said he did get beat by a dog but he was happy it wasn't in his age group.

Speaker 7:

Yeah, the dog wasn't in his age group. Joe also wanted to know what to do with the coin, how to display them. I said just stack them up on yourself, Joe, It'll be fine.

Speaker 3:

You can easily put a coin on a Christmas tree.

Speaker 7:

I guess I guess. Yeah, that's what Joe needs. Another Christmas tree, I guess I guess. Yeah, that's what Joe needs another Christmas tree. Let's go to Ashford, connecticut, where our friend Sue ran the hole-in-the-wall gang camp 5K. Said it was pouring rain on Saturday Town 154 out of 169. Sue is racking him up, but wait, there's more. We'll hear from Sue on Sunday.

Speaker 7:

In Exeter, new Hampshire, the Get Fit in May 5K Mike. Despite the chaos of having his wife being a volunteer at the race, his oldest son running the Half Mile Fun Run and his youngest having a soccer game at the same time, mike managed to PR this 5K and finish first in his age group. Nicely done, mike. In Manaqua and I didn't get the state. The Manaqua Girls on the Run 5K. Our friend Jenny was a coach. The Girls on the Run is an organization of running for young girls and they typically have adult sponsors and coaches. Jenny was a coach on this one. We're proud of her. Her girls were proud of her too, because at the end of the race they had an extra medal and they gave it to coach. That's pretty cool.

Speaker 7:

In Hudson, florida, the US Roadrunners 5K. Sasha did her first 5K race and, of course, set a new PR. Sasha says this may be the first of many races and hopefully PRs as she's training for Dopey, hopefully PRs as she's training for Dopey. Lake Baldwin, florida, not far from Disney World. The Average Joe 5K I remember reading about these. Tabitha ran this one with Esther, mike and Larry. This is one of those events the Average Joe where overall winners, age group winners, get awards and then the person who finishes right in the middle of the age group winners get awards and then the person who finishes right in the middle of the age group, the average Joe, gets an award also. That's a pretty neat idea. Let's see Larry got third place in his age group and Esther was the average Jane overall finished right in the middle of all the women runners.

Speaker 7:

At the 5K Columbus, ohio, the Susan G Komen Race for a Cure Tracy was there. This race not about PRs, not about time, about the love and support of amazing family and friends on this most worthy cause. Let's move to Sunday. I said we'd hear more about Sue and here she is in Goshen, Connecticut this time. Running with the animals, run with the animal. 5k City 155, only 14 to go, 155 out of 169. Both this and the race on Saturday were on gravel and dirt roads with a little bit of grass, came away with one scraped knee but two cities under her belt and still smiling Up in Halifax, nova Scotia, the Blue Nose Marathon.

Speaker 7:

Lori was going to do this as a catered training run. At least that was the idea. She ended up turning it into her second best marathon and hardest ever over 18 feet of elevation gain. The official results have her as age group second place, but her chip time was 25 minutes better than the first place. Person Kind of frustrating 25 minutes better than the first place. Person Kind of frustrating. Lori thinks what happened is they gave the option to start an hour early and the age group first started an hour early, so maybe chip time and gun times got confused. Nonetheless, lori got an award. Did. Great Congratulations, lori.

Speaker 7:

In Asheville, north Carolina, the Biltmore 15K Jimmy. Jimmy did his first 15K. That's a PR Hardest run to date for Jimmy, who we talked to last week, by the way, on the spotlight. Had fun though. Had fun meeting fellow Rise and Runners and one of the fellow Rise and Runners he met was Megan. Megan says she owes success in this run to lots of training. She was tempted to drop at 5k but stuck it out, finished her first 15k and longest run ever APR. Of course they had a time cut along the way here. You had to get to the Biltmore Estate by a certain time in the race, megan says once she made it then all bets were off. Then it was just fun. Spent the rest of the time singing and jumping in puddles. Did get a chance to meet with Jimmy. Jimmy says he didn't hear any singing but the dance steps were spot on, megan. Way to go, jimmy and Megan. Good job.

Speaker 7:

In Irving, texas, the Runt Irving Fiesta de Mayo. Tyler. Tyler did a 5K here. Of course it was fast and flat through Las Colinas Not his fastest, he's ever covered the 5k distance, but it was his first official 5k race. So Amanda was there. Amanda did the half marathon, her first non-run Disney half Nice course flat, pretty. She set a half marathon PR as well. Congratulations. Guys love seeing those PRs fall.

Speaker 7:

Boston, massachusetts, the Harpoon Five Miler Harpoon Brewery. Avery was there, wet and windy but worth it for the after party at the brewery In Plover, wisconsin, the oh, so Brewing Never Forgotten. Honor Flight 5K. Jay was there. Jay's grandfather was part of the Honor Flight a few years ago, if you're not familiar, and I think most of you are the Honor Flights are organized in cities throughout the country to fly World War II veterans to the World War II Memorial in Washington DC. It's a wonderful thing. Jay's happy to support the great cause. During the race, as he got close to it, a race official or director or somebody pressed a never-forgotten logger into their hands with 50 yards to go.

Speaker 7:

Jay ran this one, I believe, with his dad, and then they waited for Jay's wife, then sister and kids to finish. Jay says and I get this seeing his kids sprint to the finish line as though they were going to break the tape was fantastic. I loved seeing those photos too, jay. They were great In. Well, I'm not sure where this one was. It's a Bark in the Park 5K. What I try to do if a city's not listed is go to Google. I did and searched for Bark in the Park 5k. There are a lot of them, but Chris was there. I think Chris may have done this last year. I kind of remember, because I remember the puppies, woody and Jesse. Now, jesse didn't run last year, so this is Jesse's first 5k. That's a Beagle PR. The puppies took off. They ran the first half mile at a 7.07 pace. I didn't know Beagles could run that fast. They backed off a little bit. Finish strong sixth and seventh dogs overall. Chris wound up with an age group third place finish.

Speaker 3:

I'm looking forward to Garmin creating uh devices, now that pets can wear, you know, so that we can gauge their paces and how many steps.

Speaker 7:

They get in a day.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, good idea uh royalties can be sent to greg at rise and run anyway. Moving on, we have the make tracks through the zoo 5k. This is a part of the st louis zoo. Our buddy katie was there. This is the second year for the uh event. Her friend kelly and daughter natalie ran with her. This was natalie's first 5k, so and everyone is extremely proud of her for finishing and keeping up with the run walk intervals the entire time. We'd love to see that uh happening early on in life, so, but overall it was super fun and they really enjoyed themselves. So congratulations to katie and friends there. Then I mentioned it earlier on in the race report we had the continuation of the colfax marathon weekend in denver, colorado. Again, we already talked about our good old buddy, britney charbonneau filling in for Pelkey as the race next year with Cree Kelly as well too.

Speaker 3:

So, another run Disney connection there, but running the Urban 10-Miler we had our friend Alexander there, and then running the half marathon was Cirrus and then our wonderful friends Alan and Grace Young. Alan reports back to us that it was a great course with awesome post-race food that included brats, vegetarian brats, beer and wine, and he did have the pleasure to speak to Brittany once the race was over. So congratulations to everyone at the Colfax Marathon.

Speaker 7:

Yeah, moving to Cleveland, ohio, the Cleveland Marathon, lori 15th time running this one. For Lori, warm day, temps got to 80s by the end Marathon time. Yeah, temperatures climbed throughout the day. In her post, lori wanted to thank a lot of people who helped her out. She said a new age group PRs and those count. Michelle also completed the Cleveland Marathon. Not only did Michelle complete it, she PR'd the race. Grace ran the Capital City Half Marathon in Olympia, washington. Amy was at the USA Women's half marathon in Nashville, tennessee. Also in Nashville.

Speaker 7:

Allie with an E did the Music City Mutt Strut 5K. In the race report Allie asked for someone to come run with her. I don't know if that happened or not, but this was Allie's first ever 5k, so this is her fun first step in training towards running the half at Wine and Dine. This year. We look forward to seeing you in November, allie. Year. We look forward to seeing you in November, allie. Allie is looking if you're in the Nashville area and want to train for Disney events. Allie's looking for a running buddy. Morgan's Message Color Run Walk 5K. Catherine ran this one. It was a first run with a friend after yesterday's half Remember we talked about Catherine running a half marathon yesterday. This particular race was put on by four of Catherine's students as a senior fundraiser. Oh, that's awesome yeah.

Speaker 3:

In the lovely town of Mystic, connecticut, was the Mystic Half Marathon. Our friend Rachel ran the half marathon. This is her first race report in a while. She is chasing the 169. She's currently at town number 92. This is her second PR in two weeks. She had an awesome finish time of sub 150 and two weeks ago, uh, she got a pr for her marathon as well. So an awesome streak there. Congratulations, rachel. And then there's also a 10k um event uh, that's part of this weekend and our friend erica ran that. She pr'd by two and a half minutes and ended up with a 53 17, which is way better than what she thought she could do. She would 10 out of 10 recommend this race. I've never run this race. I've been the mystic before went the mystic pizza. It was quite lovely, wonderful town.

Speaker 3:

If you're looking for a weekend getaway in the uh, the northeast and uh, that's the end of my travel advice for this episode, then, moving west, we go out to Green Bay, wisconsin, for the Cellcom Green Bay Marathon. Whatever you want to call him, tony, hollywood Thirst Trap Tony. He ran this with his brother due to an injury, he wasn't going to do it, but then, when his bro signed up for his first marathon. He was like I got to do it. He caught his brother around mile 20 past him, which is definitely tracks for Tony, since he loves passing by his family members without saying anything to them. But then he came to his senses, fell back and the two of them finished together and he says he has a new top-running moment and that his mother is super, super proud of both him and his brother. So way to go. Hollywood and Big Brother Hollywood, I guess that's what we'll give you that nickname for now. So congratulations.

Speaker 8:

You should call him Glendale, the city next to Hollywood. Oh, there we go, Glendale.

Speaker 7:

There we go. Nicely done, guys. The run cheap Michigan, lake Orion 10K. Bethany was in a little bit of a slump but she joined customized training, been there, been with it now for about six weeks. That's helped get her out of her slump. She worked really hard, made progress, finished this 10K just a shade over an hour six minutes. Not only is that good for a proof of time, but for Bethany that's a 10K PR. The Run Houston, clear Lake 10K.

Speaker 7:

Audra did this one. Didn't get her proof of time but survived a hot, humid, sunny day. Katrina was also there. Katrina says she PR'd this one in walking. Hey, nothing wrong with that, katrina, especially when the weather gets this hot, just enjoy it.

Speaker 7:

In Rye, new York, the sole rider's half, beth, says it's a great course, beautiful, flat, mostly shaded. For the first 10 miles it was a warm day but she shaved about 30 seconds off of her decade PR time. In New Orleans, louisiana, the fat boy less than a 5K. Mandy ran this one. It round up being about a 4K because of construction. So, hey, mandy's first 4K, we know what that is. Of course, they had donuts and pizza after the run. She also. I love this. I saw some of the photos. She participated in the 26.2 foot marathon and the 0.0 mile world championship. I think one of the neat things about this one is uh, I one of the photos that Mandy posted. It actually had a map of the 26.2 foot marathon course. It's pretty cool.

Speaker 7:

Hey, let's wind up with kind of an interesting event here the Hackney Half Marathon in London. Grace and her boyfriend, saf, ran this one. Grace is Jennifer's daughter and Grace signed up for this one to raise money for cancer research in the UK in honor of her mother, jen. That was really really touching Warm for England. Grace finished and her first words when she called Jen to tell her about it was Ma, I don't know how you do this and Jen, I don't know how you do it. And Jen, I don't know how you do it either, because you're a battler and an inspiration. I know you've got a procedure coming up. We wish you all the best. That's it, my friends. That's the race report for episode 139.

Speaker 7:
