Hello, I just listened to the Oct 1st podcast with Meredith's story of climbing Kilimanjaro. It brought back so many memories as I had done it in 1996. I was in the Marines at the time and stationed at the Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya. I made the trek with two other Marines. One was stationed in Guinea and the other in Tanzania. We spent a week together climbing that mountain. Something I'll never forget. After that we continued on with our careers and lost contact. Recently I did a deep dive internet search and learned that the Marine from Tanzania was killed in Iraq in 2004. I had no idea. But for the last 30 years, the picture of us at the peak, has hung in every place I lived and will continue for the rest of my life. Thank you. GySgt Elia P. Fontecchio killed in action, August 2004, Iraq. I wanted to share that with you Bob. Never Forget Our Brothers. Joe Gulas USMC 1993-98 Dopey finisher 2019 and 2024
